I have the 2018 front load, but this model was in the laundry room of the apartment building before I bought my place. Things I like about the old model: stainless steel baffles are integrated into the washtub, The power spray rinse after the wash cycle, and the knob controls. Things I like about the new model: dynamic balance system works really well, no pulse spins (never understood the logic of the pulse spins), more flexibility in controls with the electronic panel (soil level, up to 5 extra rinses, has a heavy duty and a whites cycle in addition to the normal, perm press, gentle cycles, pre wash and soak cycles), faster spin speed (up to 1200), and the manual says it can handle up to 21 dry weight pounds. Guess there are trade offs
