Don’t be fooled by the description of this drama. While it is accurate, the marriage of the princess doesn’t occur until about episode 59. Obviously there is a lot that goes on before this. I think the actors did a wonderful job in portraying their characters and there is lots of eye candy. My emotions were well exercised by the end of this drama. Congratulations to all involved in this production.
Marvelous drama series with Wang Kai and Maggie Jiang. The production is one of the best all around for realism especially the script. Recommend for the more serious viewers of culture and politics of ancient China with just enough spice (Bihan and Huaiji stories) to keep things buzzing.
Well because who ever translated this into English has used the proper and English correct Grammar in which case Americans do not understand because you only know slang. This is actually posh English at his best. Thank you very much for the perfect English translation.
My honest opinion on this drama : it's great! If you liked "the story of minglan", you will love this one too. Great cast, great cinematography and great music. I was a bit bored at first but then it got really interesting. Definitely worth watching!
@@trini1990everything what is not fast action, no beauties, slow motion at the beginning is boring. Young viewers must be missing out a lot, because of this attitude. This is not fantasy, wuxia with faked pretty heroes, is a serious history based drama. Just saying.
I would like to make a suggestion: Please keep the original Chinese subtitles in addition to the English translations. Sometimes it the English translations do not truly reflect the original meanings.

I was merely asking for the original Chinese subtitles to be shown, instead of covering up with the English translations. Nothing more. As a native Chinese speaker with 6th to 7th grade proficiency, I understand the challenges in translation. This is akin to putting on a Shakespearean play for the Chinese audience. Meanings get lost or just hard to find the cultural equivalence when translating.

Doing that for his birth mother would be cruel, she's not made for inner palace intrigue. He can just visit her regularly or have her visit and treat her well whilst keeping her out of harm's way. But he'd best wait. That's the hardest thing for a young person, especially one that is supposed to be the supreme ruler.
If this is another long drama about an Emperor treating his long suffering Emperess and unjustly, cruelly isolatedy her... I cannot watch! Like Ruyi's Love Paace....💔

No, Stay away!!!! Nothing happens at all, no intrigue, no suspense, no action. The premises of the script seem interesting. I really like the actors so I thought I will give it a try. After watching the first 5 episodes, I jumped straight to episode 20 and it felt like i did not miss anything at all. The whole drama (69 episodes) could be reduced to less than even 16 episodes. In case you have not seen these yet, i would recommend Yanxi Palace and also the story of Minglan.

I love Song dynasty, because the laws of the Song dynasty did not allow the killing of civilian officials, except generals. So there was freedom of speech in the government, but it was later destroyed by the brutal mongols.
Even though it's said that the same writer wrote 'The story of Minglan' as well, I must confess I'm not into this particular drama at all...no matter how I try, I don't feel it WHILE Story of Minglan is a classic till today. Oh! well.
Im the opposite. I loved this drama 清平樂 alot but had no interest in the Story of Minglan. I tried at one point to get into that but it just had nothing for me at all. I guess everyone’s got their likes& dislikes, each to their own 🤷🏻♀️

Go to the middle and last part of the drama I almost dropped this drama too, but let me tell you the young actors did a phenomenal job ! I don't think I've ever cried for any drama as much as I did for this drama. Very emotional and beautiful indeed
Geez, another drama with an emperor/prince with mommy issue. Do I dare to start watching it? Just came from 'The Love By Hypnotic' a silly romantic drama with lots of kissing. Not sure I'm ready for serious political intrigue. Ok, the young emperor learned a lesson today by visiting the eatery, but did he pay for his honeyed desserts?
It was pretty much to what happened than. If you have no history background, no feelings for costumes, lightening, life of commoners at this time don’t make nonsense comments, and have at least some respect for the actresses and actors. You sound as mocking, and immature like this young “EMPEROR”.
