This should be a prerequisite read for installing the Nano2 in Reaper. I just placed a link over in the Reaper forum where is is sorely needed. Thanks.
I had a bit of trouble configuring my NanoKontrol to work with Reaper. But got there in the end after watching 2 or 3 vids incl this one - which was some help, but not a lot. I managed to find and install all the relevant drivers, and crap incl the KLINKE files. Reaper wasn't recognizing the controller! Then I watched a bit of Tim Shoebridge's video and he mentioned that there is an issue with the KORG MIDI DRIVER software - which I think I heard before - probably here! - about how it maxes out at 10 midi drivers - the trick was to uninstall the driver, and then look at the options and delete all the unwanted drivers - I had heaps of double ups. In the end that fixed the prob in 10 minutes - after half a day stuffing around. Anyway I thought I'd add this little nugget! As there are only 8 channel strips - if you go beyond that number - press the TRACK arrows and it jumps so that channel 9 is controlled by strip 1, chan 10 by strip 2 etc. I thought that was cool. Anyway I am glad I got this thing working. for almost $100AUD I think it's worthwhile having some dedicated controls and not have to use the mouse all the time. CHEERS
I just got one and just came across this video and I was thinking the same thing... it's been probably at least 5 minutes before he's actually gotten into using the device....
Hey you seem to know what you are doing! Question: Do I need to install the driver in order to use it with Pro Tools? The install fails on my M1 MacBook Pro. The nanoKONTROL2 documentation says, "This driver is for Intel Mac (32-bit and 64-bit) only." Pro Tools is certainly not seeing it in the Peripherals / MIDI Controllers window. It is a pity because it is perfect for my needs and, as you say, it is a well built little device.
Excellent video, Thank you very much for the information, I make home productions like Hobby and your video helped me a lot. One question is this controller compatible with Cakewalk? I need it to draw the curves of the cc midi programs, which are very annoying to do with the mouse. Example I want to give expression or manage the volume to a violin track in cakewalk, could it be from this controller?
Very nice tutorial! I am definitely going to buy one! But I have one question, what if your first track is faded to 90% and track 9 is faded to 20%, how does it switch between it, without losing the original value? Because, it doesn't have motorised faders right? I hope you understand what I mean ;D
oh wow, I completely missed the automation thing ! Amazing ! I recently watched a video that because of the mackie controller problem, the set marker, instead of using the nanokontrol2 as control interface creates a midi mapping for the actions instead, which seems to work as well.
PLEASE HELP! I'd like to use my Kawai MP11se digital piano (with USB and MIDI IN, OUT) to control my sound modules (instead of using VSTs or soft synths). Can I use the NanoKontact to control the parameters of the sounds from the sound modules? If so, would I need a usb MIDI host to make it work? Thank you!
The set marker button does work in that config, but you have to skip left/right for the marker to appear. Although, I can't get the transport buttons to illuminate in this config.
hey! thanks a lot for this! where can i find the same version that you are using on this video? i find olders versions that doesnt work like this. Please help me!
How you install Klinke control surface on Mac? i follow the instructions nad paste the folder of klinke in plugins folder but i cant' t find the Mackie Control Universal, (Klinke) in the control surface
hola una consulta.. yo cuando muevo uno y luego muevo otro canal con el nano control autamaticamente se seleccionan 2 pistas y se mueven los dos canales...¿ por que? gracias
Do I need the dll file if I want to use the kontrol 2 as a MIDI controler for controling the volume or the dynamics of a VSTI? I edited the cc numbers of each faders and wrote the settings to the thing but Reaper won't do anything. It does list NK2 as one of the MIDI controlers but it won't receive any MIDI messages from it. Can you or someone help me with this?
I liked the tutorial. RIght now my nanokontrol2 moves two faders when I move only one, reaper keeps selecting the previews track. I used in studio and this does not happen. Did it happen to you because this is driving me crazy and already verified the nanokontroleditor.
Can I just ask what the benefits to using reaper over other normal daws are? I don't want to judge because I haven't used it.. but I'm still super curious..
Hi friend, I'm using the korg nano kontrol 2 and the reaper, with the Klinke extension, works perfectly by only moving a slider, when I move two or more sliders the reaper takes to complete the action. you can help me? thank you so much.
friend like you did to move to other tracks and control the volume and effects of the other tracks being the nanokontrol2 only has 8 controls volume passes the configuration there for us to live in Brazil and recently bought the nanokontrol2 and use with the reaper and not I'm getting set up that way you did go to control other tracks
Do you know if I can use the Nano Kontrol2 to control my Motif ES Rack Sound Module ( For Program changes when playing Live ) without having to connect to a Computer ?
I want to get this for basic mixing purposes. I'm so tired of using a mouse and trying to adjust sensitive knobs with one. I'd rather have a piece of hardware I can use my hands with manually.
Hey man, i recently got the nanokontrol 2 and i use it with logic. the Site says that you only have to download a plug in thing so that it works with Logic.. but my problem is that all the faders and pans work they all respond along with the transport but when it comes to strip 6 and 8 they have a tendency to mimic each other.. Ie what ever i do with one fader the other will do ( in the DAW of course ) then when i select a track header to work on and move 8 or 6 or both .. the selected track will move to.. i dont know what it is but it is seriously annoying me.. what do you reckon i do?
Question: can you control any Logic plug ins or any 3rd party plug ins that you are currently using with Logic aside from controlling V/P/R etc.? thanks
I'am useing Sonar Platinum and I'am also trying to Configure my nanoKONTROL2 and my nanoKEY up with no Luck either are Configured I'am on Windows 10 64bit is anyone having this issue
Man the 10.40 sound is beautiful. Which vst/plugins did you use? And If you have the complete audio file, can you send it to my email? I love it those choirs.
Not sure if you still need help, but if you're using 64 bit version of reaper, you need to take the 64bit .dll file from klinke and move it to the plug ins file in the reaper media folder.
That option has never apperaed in Reaper, becouse it is a 3rd party plug-in, that can be downloaded from here bitbucket.org/Klinkenstecker/csurf_klinke_mcu/downloads/
Damn, I feel so stupid. I'm a computer techie and I was wondering why Ableton 9 Suite didn't recognize my nanoKEY2 and nanoKONTROL2 (also have the nanoPAD2, but I only use it while mixing in Traktor). Duh, I needed to install the Korg Editor hahaha ... Nice video btw.
If you're an idiot like me and can't get the MCU (klinke) to appear in your control surface menu, it's because you're using Reaper x64 and need to get the 64 bit .dll in the MCU file, labelled "64bit_version".
Also, don't forget to do the sonar activation before pluggin the nanokontrol2 usb cable ("set" + "stop" together). If you don't then the behaviour can be different. If you must have markers then try bsmaudio h t t p : / / stash.reaper.fm/browse.php?q=bsm&x=17&y=13 but cycle doesn't work so you can only control 8 tracks. Haven't found the perfect one yet.
Storm here. The Klinke file isn't stored at the Reaper site, but, there is a link and mention of where to get it from on this page h t t p : / / stash.reaper.fm/v/9366/reaper_csurf_mcu_klinke.zip hope that saves you time and headaches.
so none of this works on mac. you talk about the custom ddl. but thats only for windows id be awesome if ypou had a video for the mac set up cus none of this works!!!!!!!!
With what you're doing, you should be using Ableton Live and their hardware. This Korg device is for portable situations or assigning the unused CC#s. This video should only be 1 minute long with the information you have.
This should be a prerequisite read for installing the Nano2 in Reaper. I just placed a link over in the Reaper forum where is is sorely needed. Thanks.
Great videos part one and part two. I was just wondering have you ever posted on properly installing the Kontrol 2 for use in Reaper
Can't tell you how helpful this was. My NanoKontrol2 is up and running now. Thank you :)

CHEERS
Very useful for understanding how envelopes work with the Korg Nanokontrol2. A big thank-you
This guy's enunciation really pushes my 'buh-ins'...
10:10 exactly what i needed to see thank you
Personally I love tutorials where it takes over 5 minutes of a guy talking about himself before he actually says anything useful.
lol, someone said what I was feelin. But useful tut nonetheless
I just got one and just came across this video and I was thinking the same thing... it's been probably at least 5 minutes before he's actually gotten into using the device....

I am a beginner for reaper, thanks for useful teaching
Hello my friend, if you can help me, my reaper does not have this option: Mackie Control Universal (Kinke) how did you put it on yours?
Excellent video, Thank you very much for the information, I make home productions like Hobby and your video helped me a lot. One question is this controller compatible with Cakewalk? Nice tutorial! Thank you!
Hi. And where can I get this small universal file Klinke that needs to be put in the plugins folder?
great tutorial thanks... I used the Mackie Control (klinke v 0.8.3.4) (dev8.7) in Reaper 6.13 and it works great.
Thank you, I'm all setup in reaper, excellent!
Very nice tutorial! I am definitely going to buy one! Thanks for the video, do you know how to get it to work with Garageband? I installed the Midi Driver and downloaded the plugin but it’s not working.
Thank you very much! Now I have my nanokontrol2 setup and ready to do some serious writing all over the pan and volume!
Finally I came across great tutorial! Actually made me buy nanokontrol.
oh wow, I completely missed the automation thing ! Amazing ! I recently watched a video that because of the mackie controller problem, the set marker, instead of using the nanokontrol2 as control interface creates a midi mapping for the actions instead, which seems to work as well.

Could you use the sliders and/or knobs to adjust more complicated things, such as pitch, the level of a wah effect, distortion, etc?
The set marker button does work in that config, but you have to skip left/right for the marker to appear.
Although, I can't get the transport buttons to illuminate in this config.
hey! thanks a lot for this!

thank you for sharing this. works like a charm on Reaper.
You know whats not exciting and fun? A 30 second intro!
I'll be using Garageband, so I guess I get the Plug in from Korg? Thanks.
Do I need the dll file if I want to use the kontrol 2 as a MIDI controler for controling the volume or the dynamics of a VSTI?

Did you ever find a solution to this? I'm struggling with it at the moment
Can't wait to get mine :D
You mention 'dll'... Might you know if the nanoKontrol 2 works on OSX Reaper? Thx.
Anyone know how to deal with folders . . . have a fader control the folder, and the next fader move on to the track after the folder group?
I've enabled the device in midi devices but when I go to Control Surface Settings it doesn't show up in midi ins and outs
sets the reaper or nanokontrol2 ? there goes the partner tip
Can I just ask what the benefits to using reaper over other normal daws are? I don't want to judge because I haven't used it.. but I'm still super curious..
Very well done. Plan on using it with Live. Out of all the Videos out there I vote your one the best :) the very best to you....rm
Hi friend, I'm using the korg nano kontrol 2 and the reaper, with the Klinke extension, works perfectly by only moving a slider, when I move two or more sliders the reaper takes to complete the action. you can help me? thank you so much.
Same here! How did you fix it?
_might_ be helpful if there was something at the start that says it doesn't work for linux or mac.
Hi I've just bought it today, I don't figure out how to set it up foot Logic 9, is there a button to press before power it on for logic?

I have problem, how you install the Klinke plugin, in which folder you shoud copy the files for the Control Surface? (Mac)
This plug-in is windows only. Alternate solution: www.metalguitarist.org/forum/music-recording-studio/40137-setup-korg-nanokontrol-2-reaper-osx.html
Can you show me how to set up SCENES on the Nanokontrol2? I just want it to be as simple as it was on nanokontrol1. Thanks
Please smb reply to that...?
if you use the latest version of this plugin you press the track up and down and it'll move up the next bank in Reaper
Do i have to download mainstage or abelton live so it can work
@rhodium1233 thank you! That was driving me crazy

Nope haha.. thats why its bothering me..
What midi keyboard you use?
I'am useing Sonar Platinum and I'am also trying to Configure my nanoKONTROL2 and my nanoKEY up with no Luck either are Configured I'am on Windows 10 64bit is anyone having this issue
You do get useful knowledge if you watch till the end, however I guess many, if not most, left before he really started to talk on the topic.
did nano kontrol work with studio one??
Do you think you could post that patch for reaper users?
What's the meaning of modern DAW?
Can korg nankontrol be used without connecting to midi?
Man the 10.40 sound is beautiful. Which vst/plugins did you use? And If you have the complete audio file, can you send it to my email? I love it those choirs.
Daniel Mtz 10:40... Is that when he finally SHUTS UP???
+J-L B Well, did you want to listen to how the Nanokontrol sounds ?!
Amazing! Amazing review!! I just got mine :)
I downloaded the klink but i cant get it to show up in reaper under control surfaces. can you help?
Not sure if you still need help, but if you're using 64 bit version of reaper, you need to take the 64bit .dll file from klinke and move it to the plug ins file in the reaper media folder.
That "Klinke" option does not longer exist (Reaper x64 5.95)
That option has never apperaed in Reaper, becouse it is a 3rd party plug-in, that can be downloaded from here
bitbucket.org/Klinkenstecker/csurf_klinke_mcu/downloads/
whats the button combo for PT10?
Where can we get this DLL?!
do i need a special software for this?
Will this work with audacity?
Damn, I feel so stupid. I'm a computer techie and I was wondering why Ableton 9 Suite didn't recognize my nanoKEY2 and nanoKONTROL2 (also have the nanoPAD2, but I only use it while mixing in Traktor).
Duh, I needed to install the Korg Editor hahaha ...
Nice video btw.
Will this work with Adobe Audition?
BlackSoul Pros. Thank you this helped a lot
Hey, is that the audio files for Gungor? You are one luck guy!
Could we have a link to the klinks dll file?
No links to the stuff we need to download??
How can u downloaded on the mac
tanks.
that was very very helpfull :)
i,m using sonar...
What does the 'Cycle' button do?
metronome for me
We're can u find "daw"
If you're an idiot like me and can't get the MCU (klinke) to appear in your control surface menu, it's because you're using Reaper x64 and need to get the 64 bit .dll in the MCU file, labelled "64bit_version".
+rhodium1233 how can I do ?
exciting he said......
There was a day when people made other kinds of music on DAWs besides disco duck cop-killa dreck?? I'm really shocked. I'm serious.
Fast forwars to around 6 minutes to not waste 6 minutes of your life. Otherwise useful.
Video starts at: ruclips.net/video/QyTwjJNpq94/видео.html

Link to the ESSENTIAL FILE YOU NEED TO USE THIS that is not at all linked anywhere else lmao
so none of this works on mac. you talk about the custom ddl. but thats only for windows id be awesome if ypou had a video for the mac set up cus none of this works!!!!!!!!
blablubbblabbblaaa...cant keep my eyes open
you talk to much
With what you're doing, you should be using Ableton Live and their hardware.
This Korg device is for portable situations or assigning the unused CC#s.
This video should only be 1 minute long with the information you have.
It would be hard for me to come up with a more idiotic and unhelpful comment if I tried.
I think you did just fine with the one you left.
Get to the point man. 4 minutes in and we haven't got anywhere.
Dude, stop ranting. Get to the point. This could have been wrapped up in 3 minutes.
too much talking about nothing
This midi control is a crap....
The knobs control the vst knobs until I hit play. Then they stop working. HELP!
I got two. one black one white. I m working with cb 9 on win10 pro 64 bit. any ideas how to set them up to work on both ones simultaneously??
