Man….I need this….great run…was missing some Joyrider videos. Greetings from Portugal 🇵🇹
Me too!!! This was such a great start - more to come!
AWESOME!!! What a terrific first time out. Drop It In The Slot all season Joe. Thanks for sharing day 1.
Thanks Scott. (the second run, coming soon, was faster!)
Good to see you dashing around like that!
Even better to be doing it!
@@JoyriderTV soon! 🛫
I helped a sailing buddy epoxy his posts and rails to the hulls for a perfectly rigid boat. No racking. Stiff. Makes a huge difference in response and speed.
I’m not so sure about epoxy in the pylons on older boats.I feel that when a boat gets older, it needs a certain amount of flex, otherwise that blocks that secure the pylons inside the holes will be taking the full force.
@@JoyriderTV All I can tell you is how much faster the boat responds and runs. This boat was a mid-80's model so yes, older, but it had not been used very much. It did have a lot of flex but now has no more than whatever the materials possess. There is no play, no slop. You lift one hull bow by an inch and the other starts to raise as well.
just rewatching listening to my favorite music, the way to do it. you are going SCARY FAST I would crew for you but I would not dare helm at that speed.
Nice! I would love to be able to put music on the videos but sometimes It can create a love/hate divide so that's why I don't + copywrite issues
Nice ride, nice boat, tks for sharing.
Great to be out cooking the goose again!
Yeahhhhhh !!!! Tornado Racing Tiger soon 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Coming up soon.
@@JoyriderTV 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
I’m with you this week Joe I’m going to have a play on one of those new bad boy 16s 👍😊 love it in Vassiliki sailing heaven 😇
Oh yes. They really sail as nicely as they look. You're in for a treat!
mooie knik in de schoten!
Thanks! 🤩
Lovin it - Lovin it - Lovin it
Me too! So good to be back in the saddle!
Quite a bit of huffing & puffing there Joe…. Been a good winter … 😀
LoL! Certainly a long one!
Hey Joe great little run on the New boat looked like gusting 25 kn (?)
I start counting the days (5 more weeks)
Please heat up the water for me with some "burning laps"
See you soon
Ha!!! That's a great plan for heating the place up.
Nice one Jo!
Thanks David! See you soon!
Hi Joe!!!
I'm just coming, see u Next week. 😊
Great! I'm looking forward to it.
"these old harkens" 😂😂😂😂😂
Still going strong!!!
looking forward to sending it down the mineshaft very soon
The mineshaft is calling you!!! I'll see you down there!
Sir, i like sailing in catamarã because the boat cross the waves without resistence.
Oh yes, I agree there is nothing quite like it
as we say here, noice!
I've heard from others that's what I say.
i know that boat! thanks for posting!
did you sail it in the Worlds?
Great boats.
@@JoyriderTV hey joe - i was privileged to be on the event team for worlds in spain, and i did the on-the-beach commentary during racing. so my fingerprints are on your boat!
@@catsailorjohn great stuff. That's very cool.
always good to know where the boat has been!
@joyrider tv, why do you have the jib traveller all the way out ? I learned (from one of your videos) : traveller in : close to the wind, traveller midway : for crosswind, traveller out for tailwind . is it right?
What you say is right until you become overpowered and you want to loose power all of the time.
As soon as you ease the main traveller as a means of loosing power, the jib traveller should go out all of the way.
@@JoyriderTV very interesting, thanks for the knowledge!
sorry I'm not into speed I want to anchor and scuba dive on my 16 any tips on going SLOW? maybe the wrong boat but it's what I've got. i'm figuring I could play around with the sails and intentionally lose power, right? no time crunch my launching spot got temporarily closed and I have repairs to do, I just want the knowledge next time you do a post. 20 friggin knots is pretty fast, dude. I'm scared. I've never used a trapeze, maybe someday on a lake or something. WITH A LIFE PRESERVER/JACKET of course.
That will be a great video to make - HOW SLOW CAN YOU GO?
25 knots of wind - every point of sail, see what the minimums are.
I love it! I'll do it soon.
What is a good Trap Harness for the Tiger - and which Gammon Watch
That's a good question for this week's Q+A
Cheers
we unfortunately have a quarantine in our local lake for mussels that have polluted other lakes in california so you have to get a wire tag on your boat/trailer that they clip off and do paperwork. It's a bummer for me, because I would only do ocean and that specific lake. They do have different kayak rules though, you can pressure blast them off so I MAY be able to show up and convince a ranger that it's two kayaks tied together, right? wish me luck!
Ha! Yes, the catamaran is very similar to two kayaks tied together.
@@JoyriderTV hell it IS 2 kayaks tied together you don't even have to wonder how it was invented. They were likely crossing an ocean, had a family or whatever and said "why don't we lash 'em together?" We talk about dates and time in general as if we know anything at all and we really don't. In my opinion this goes back a lot further than we give it credit. I believe people have been sailing since the friggin beginning of time. You learn to swim, you learn to sail. Like that.
No hull flying and it appears down wants to pitch pole?
Just the normal amount of bow down - Heavy crew was pinning here down nicely.
Bad boy 41, lol
We've got a whole fleet of Bad Boys now!!
