Very informational video. Still up in the air on which size battery to use. While programing this airplane, did you activate the stabelization mode and if so was it difficult. I've only delt with E Flite when it comes to that category. GREAT video, and let me know about that stabelization mode if you could. THANKS.

Stabilization options will depend on which electronics you go with. I am using an Frsky RX-8 in this plane which has no stabilization options. Whatever brand you have (e.g. Spektrum, Futaba, Frsky) it will come down to picking the receiver that has the features you want.

Also, for battery, I've tried 1300-3000 4S and it will fly them all, but with a different feel of course. I think 1800 4S is my personal favorite.

Hi Matt, nice video! Would you tell me what you set your elevator to flap settings at so it doesn't balloon. Thank You.

The answer is that it depends on where you put your CG and how slow you are comfortable flying. I'd say get it flying with the cg you like and no flaps, then experiment with flaps . See how slow you are comfortable flying with some altitude as insurance so you can throttle up in time if plane stalls. After those two things are settled, you can mix in an elevator setting to match where you were having to manually hold the stick to lessen your flying workload.

Sooo hard to decide, Im between this one and the Grand Tundra, money is not an issue, but space for flying it and transport is…

What Motor do you use? I built up my V2 Tundra with a SK3-3542-800kv Motor using either 12x6 or 12x8 APC or 11x7 3-blade Master Airscrew and love the power of it on 4S

      I'm using a Sunnysky X2820 800KV and a Xoar 12x6 wood prop. It's been a solid combo for me.

I recently began flying this exact Tundra V2 model...my problem is the motor sometimes quits after appox. 4 min of flight time...I am using new 3S 2200mah 60C LiPo's and they are still fine after landing ( appox. 38% left ) .......I notice the ESC becomes very hot and it must be shutting down the motor ...I am using all the stock parts that came with it......the big carbon fiber prop , stock motor and stock 40amp ESC from Hobbyking ..what am I doing wrong as it's frustrating having to land dead stick so many times ?...thanks

    • @mattselectronicsrc4423

If it were me, I'd start by trying to get more airflow over the ESC if possible. Swapping in a 60A ESC is another thing to try, although the reversing feature of the bundled 40A is useful when on floats. Yet another option is to use a different prop. I'm using a 12x6 wood Xoar prop and prefer it to stock; it's quiet and smooth. It likely draws less amps than stock, just be careful not to chip it on landing - I added stiffer springs to the main gear to help mitigate this and have not had any problems.

@@mattselectronicsrc4423 .....I had recently contacted HK support for help and they sent out another 40amp ESC , but same problem was happening.....so I now have switched to a 11 x 5.5 prop, but the plane does not have the same power in the air, but at least it keeps flying for 4 min....thanks

Seriously - most aren’t going to swap the motor moving on to another review...

Not really a valid first impression if you hacked it before the first flight.
