The US version was based on the UK version, but given how long the US version ran and how different it was from the UK show, I think it's ok to distinguish between the two. Merchant even acknowledged that there's no way he and Ricky Gervais could've done what Greg Daniel's did with the American version of the show.
I feel Stephen Merchant's size pain but in a very specific spot: my feet. I'm 5' 11" tall, so not huge. But I wear size 13 shoes. Imagine how often I've heard, "I'm sorry, sir. We don't have that shoe in 13. Would you try a 12?" REALLY?? Is there a level of hell deeper than wearing shoes one size too small??
I can relate to that. For me it sometimes works as my feet are too wide for a regular size 10 so I need a "10 wide" but with some shoe brands an 11 works out too, probably hence the question. She and the siblings inherited both. But yeah, there are only two markets, one hardware, a couple of restaurants. Hard *not* to run into people
