Like in BP, Rosé's name is written as
"로제" which is "Roje" but at the same time, Lisa's name is written as "리사" which is "Lisa" coz in Korean "ㄹ" is used both for R & L.
And in BabyMonster, their names are
"루카" (Ruka) & "로라" (Rora) which can be both pronounced as Luka/Ruka & Lola/Rora depending on the person's actual name. It's not about pronounciation, it's about what their name actually are! Ruka already appeared in a Japanese TV show and her name was clearly mentioned "KAWAI RUKA" not "Kawai Luka" so it's Ruka for her, not Luka. And for Rora, Yang Hyunsuk clearly said that he gave that name to Dain (Rora's actual name) coz the word Rora is from the English word "Aurora" so it's RORA for her, not Lola!
& moreover their names are literally written with an "R" coz it's pronounced with a R! If it'd have been Lola & Luka, their names would be simply written with an L! Why would they write an R instead. English isn't same as Korean uk? We have two different alphabets, L & R. If their names are written with an R, then it's pronounced with R too! Not L!!

It can basically never be Lola though. If there's a single "ㄹ" in the middle of the word, it's basically never an L sound, only if there's 2 "ㄹㄹ" after each other. If there's a "ㄹ" in the front though, it can be either R or L. Koreans say it's "neither", but I definitely hear a difference between different words.

The song rookie are pronounce as lookie i think they want it sound like that to make it more sound cutes since it is a cute song. Do you ever call the group like Led Velvet? Or Ilene? No right. I'm just learning Hangul myself, but if the the syllable begins with the "R/L" symbol then it makes an R sound. If the syllable ends with the "R/L" symbol then it makes an L sound. Both Ruka (로카) and Rora (로라) have the "R/L" consonant at the beginning of the symbol, so they are pronounces as what English' would consider an R. Both the R and L have the same shape in the mouth, the R has the tongue move from the roof of the mouth downward and the L is the opposite.

But in Japanese, there is a subtle 'R' sound. Another example, YuQi from G-IDLE, in Mandarin her name is pronounced yü chi, but in Korean, they romanized it, and became 우기 (you key)(english pronounciation). Because there will be NO words/ Hangeul/ Korean pronounciation of the actual Yu Qi (yü chi). Hope this helps🤣

For Ruka To end the R or L, it is neither R or L, her name is 瑠花 in Kanji or るか in Hiragana. It is just a different sound in Japanese or even Korean than English. There is no long R, definitely no rolling R. There is no long L. It is hard to explain to English speakers because plainly, it is Japanese. In English it is valid to say a name with extended WWE announcer voice.... the RRRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOCK, and it means the same thing. In Japanese you just do not do that. Pitch change rules in English are different. For instance every English speaker wants to say Asa with a declining pitch on the end A, but it should be kept at the same pitch as the S. It should be low pitch with the first A in Asa, the S is higher pitch and the second A maintains the higher pitch. But in English the lower pitch at the end usually indicates the end of a phrase/word and some English speakers have the feeling that there is something more to the word when the declination in pitch is not used and they feel like the word is hanging. Note on the use of "Rukan" that you hear. There are two abbreviations that could be used here, the cute/close version of Ruka San, since Ruka is Asa's senior, in a more formal setting she probably would have said Ruka-san. The other, more likely use is because they are very close, this is Rukan could also be an abbreviated version of Ruka-Chan.

I think it's Rrrruka. With hard "r" especially because she is Japanese. They basically pronounce consonants as they are in Japan. While Rora can possibly be Lola because she's Korean.

Lee Jung Lee is front and center in Lisa's Money Dance Performance video.
As for the R/L. In Korean and Japanese R is pronounced like L. I am not sure how L is pronounced but in Korean Surname Lee is pronounce Ye.... I think the R depends on if they consider it their "English" Name. Ruka is her real Japanese name so it probably is "Luka". But I would Guess the R is in Pharita. as for Rora and Haram I have no Idea.

honestly this whole r vs l thing is so funny to me.... the fact is that there is just one letter for R and L in korean.... i guess just after a while of learning you just come to know when its sounds more like an L and when it sounds more like an R but usually its just like - try saying r and l at the same time and see what comes out LOL

R in Japan is pronounced as Arrrrr.. so for Ruka it is spoken as Rrrooka not Luka. Koreans are the only oriental race that pronounce R as L and the L as Ee

Its between R and L, it's hard for foreign ears to pronounce perhaps? When I introduced my Japanese friend to my USA friends, my Japanese friend's name is Rei, but people kept pronouncing it Ray... >.< It's okay though, we understand. らり(る)れろ

    Name pronunciation:
Haram: Hah-ram (light rolled tongue on the r)
    Chiquita: chee-kee-ta
    Ahyeon: Ah-Hyuhn
    Asa: Ah-sah
Rora: roh-ra (light rolled tongue on both r's)
Pharita: Pah-ree-tah (light rolled tongue on the r)
Ruka: Roo-kah (light rolled tongue on the r)
It's not a hard rolled r. Many people in the west think of rolled r's like in Spanish, but it's not the same. It's not as pronounced that's why it's harder to hear.

Actually R & L is the same in Korean but it's how you pronounced it when I studied my teacher said the first letter sounds should be R while the latter must be L still it's the pronunciation
