Sub 1 hour! It was a crazy grind and I nearly gave up on the category but I finally got this lucky run where everything went right.

FAQ:
Q: How do you break rocks so fast?
A: I use my mouse scroll wheel which I set to have the same action as left click in the game settings.
Q: Why do you build empty bases / deconstruct the hatch?
A: Entering a base saves the inventory so it's not lost when I die. If I don't want to respawn at that base I deconstruct the hatch.
Q: Why do you build the Cyclops?
A: The Cyclops is the only place you can build the shield generator needed to finish the rocket.
Q: I saw a glitch. Why is this called glitchless?
A: This run has been verified to follow the rules generally agreed upon for the glitchless category. What you consider a glitch, others may not.

Well, the thing about subnautica is that the faster you complete it, the less your character in game will have to reimburse the total of the materials he collects.
@Mohamed Sugulle the amount your character owes the company, because all materials you collect are deemed company property and when you are collecting shit like dimonds, sulfur, etc it gets expensive so in shot capitalism

@@cheffries6066 The Degasi was another ship that crash landed on 4546B about a decade earlier than the aurora. The whole reason you are sent there is to find any info about it. (Survivors, remains etc.)

I always thought it was weird too, but then I realized the other 2 are probably managing the cameras and engine or something like that
1 person in the cabin 1 in the engine room 1 assistant on deck.
It doesn’t say it’s operated by three pilots, it just normally has three people working in the cyclops for efficiency
they have to argue about where your going, or it wont work as good

I'm particularly impressed by the degree of planning that obviously went into figuring out which sandstone outcrops to harvest, and the strategic deaths were a really nice touch. Dunno that I'd have thought of that. That said, it took me about 60 hours to finish my first Survival run.
The amount of working memory you have to have to track all the resource amounts in mind...

My first hour of playing, I drowned in a cave and immediately thought: "maybe I can carry an extra tank" felt like a total dumbass for not thinking of that right away, but reading these comments is making me feel a lot better. Thanks y'all.
Indeed. It's so obvious. I always carry two "230 seconds" tanks. In fact i even dont need any big transport with them.
I probably could have found it out if I needed it but I didn’t until the great prawn suit heist where I went to the lava zone to retrieve my prawn suit. Needed 3 ultra high capacity tanks to pull it off.

Me - spends about 50 hours playing before I head for the lava zone in my fully-upgraded Cyclops, with indoor grow beds and plants, fabricators, lockers galore, ample resources of all kinds in said lockers, a bed, an aquarium, upgraded tools, plenty of batteries and power cells, a decked-out Prawn Suit, posters and keepsakes, extra materials for constructing outposts, etc.
This guy - swims down there with a fucking seaglide in less than 30 minutes of playtime.

It's always interesting to me how different speedrunners do the gathering and preparing portion at the beginning, as its likely the most boring to grind and yet also probably has the most time saves available. and so many ppl do it differently. Very cool speedrun, congrats on your incredible time!
Gotta say subnautica has done a excellent work with sound effects they are terrifying
it's really relaxing to see a speedrun on subnautica without commentary, there is only the sound of the ocean it is really awesome

He could have totally shoved the Aurora miniature into the time capsule in the second and a half it took for the launch to be clickable.
If you didn't read the FAQ in the description the way they break the rocks so fast is by binding the interact button to the scroll wheel. You can kind of do this on controller too by spamming A/X and LT/L2

I kept getting lost for like 10 minutes l every time I left ilmy base because I kept forgetting where it was. Meanwhile you just found 3 purple tablets in less than 5 and remember where every single alien base is, that's impressive. Awesome job dude

I agree with this speedrun give tips of what is essential, but one of the great thing about this game is exploration.
It’s amazing bro, perfect timing too cause as soon as u finish this you can get the 2nd game. It’s fully finished on pc already but if ur on console it comes out end of may I’m pretty sure so regardless you’re in a perfect position

The three tanks + last-second lava castle run are mind-blowing. That's as riveting as any footage I've ever watched... ..and here I thought my original ~50-hour blind playthrough had squeezed out every heart-stopping moment the game had to offer! ;)

i realize now that the ending of Subnautica 1 should had been subnautica 2. If you think about it, after getting the message about how your "credit amount is 3 million" and you have to pay for basically everything you'd had to collect and build. You might build "the rocket" but you probably wouldn't want to leave the planet. And that begs the question, would you care about getting cured to shut down the alien super gun? The problem is, if you leave the planet, they'll probably not even pay you for whatever information you did gather, and the information you do gather may not end up being enough to even "pay off the amount you've somehow accrued". With all that technology you have no means to collect a sample or any amount of "the cure" to retain for future situations? Really feels like Subnautica should have had a system similar to Luigi's Mansion, where the more "things you scanned" and "cataloged" the wealthier you'd be upon returning, the cure maybe being the "bulk" of your gains should you catalog and have a sample.
Fantastic speed run, most impressive. Wish I'd watched this before my 5 hour second run to get a cuddlefish hatched. Bravo mate, bravo 🙏
