    I have just begun to emerge from a flux of a few years where I stopped reading fiction and only read non fiction, mostly history books. Its good to see you doing so well, and everlastingly reading and thinking x

      @@zoobee i think it’s easy to get into a particular type of reading zone and forget that other kinds of books exist! i’m certainly guilty of it, and only partially successful in expanding my horizons :)

    tiny moons sounds like what i wanted crying in h mart to be. might need to pick up the ben learner essay--i cant get into poetry to save myself

      ooh, that might be kind of true about tiny moons. i never read h mart myself
      can’t guarantee that lerner will transform yr relationship to poetry, but it’s short at least!

    Soooo many fab sounding recommendations here. Thick and Other Essays I’ve had on my periphery for a while. I can’t believe I’ve not read any Alexander Chee, I really need to rectify that. Entangled Life has intrigued me for ages, I just didn’t know if a whole book of I loooooved A History of My Brief Body, you’ve reminded me I need to read his short story collection.

      entangled life is a lot of pages of fungus, so if that’s not your thing, it might be a bit long 🤣
      definitely recommend you pick up thick - it’s funny, poignant and smart. just a really good read. and how to write an autobiographical novel!

    out of context and a bit shallow, but the new style actually looks very pretty. we are hoping that you get regular phases of relief and wish you strength for the intense times. Also, very Interesting collection of books i think.

    What a great list! I read Sontag Chee, Ernaux and Laymon, loved them. Heavy is one of the most beautiful writings with such a heavy story, it really moved me. It somewhat reminds me of a Tom Waits' quote: "I like beautiful melodies telling me terrible things."
    I have Sister Outsider and Notes of a Native Son on my shelf waiting for the right moment.

    I’ve really meant to get to the Alexander Chee. It sounds intriguing. And the Ben Lerner. I’m looking for that at my library! Ooh Because Internet sounds right up my alley! I scored. My library system has both. 👏👏👏Happening remains my favorite Ernaux.

    Against Interpretation by Susan Sontag has been on my tbr forever, this video is my cue to read it. I should also like read de Beauvoir, preferably in French--is her prose 'easy'?

      yes, may this be yr sign!! beauvoir’s prose is very good and clear, so that to some extent makes it easier in my opinion. it’s not simple, however. have you read any of her other writing in french? i find her voice similar in memoir, fiction and philosophy
