The streetwear clothing and culture tends to be cyclic and we often see styles of previous decades being re-lived with a bit more of a modern twist so I presume that due to the connection that streetwear clothing and culture share with skateboarding we could possibly be seeing some of the 80's, 90's, etc... skate culture being reborn with a modern twist aswell.... It would be nice to see!

I am 43 years old now. I get started at 1993 in Beijing when I was in middle school. My first deck is Skull and Sword from Powell Pelrata. I learned how to Ollie using this deck. I still push my board now. When skateboarding becomes so mainstream, the fashion of skate hits day back to 90s with baggy pants and relax fit clothing. Wide decks become popular, ranging from 8.25 - 8.75 inches with big wheels from 54-58 mm in 100A hardness around. I am pretty happy to see more and more people riding a deck today.

@@ShredzShop My Dad had a Downhill board that was 6 feet long and shaped like a Skinny Surfboard. Santa Cruze, was I think the name and they used 3 thin 1 inch wide strips of tape on a wood flatter board. He wore standard Converse OX or a knock off then after running shoes (in track and Cross Country) the pair after his Adidas Country got a midsole to them like his Nike Waffles and New Balance 512 shoes and he could not grip the board wearing the too worn in for running pairs of those shoes had too thick a sole. The other Board he had later and until I was a teen and it got sold, though he did not skate anymore after 1984 and joining the army was a Convex Skateboard with these Sure Grip Wheels that had fully sealed bearings but the wide type, he used what he knew at the time more for true Slalom and that was sealed bearings. He was living until his 20's in Lompoc California where this one hill was perfect to skate at this lower gentle grade for about a good 3 miles. I wish I had his old first board from age 12 in1972, a Fiberglass Pentch top with both Trucks and open bearing rubber wheels made for a roller Skate but that he bought on its own. The board was nice, for somebody under 115 pounds, the board flexed and twisted just right so that they could do things it would take a bigger person much more to do on a stiffer wood bord, yes this was probably a kid's to young teen sized board. I wish that they still made a Skateboard with this type of soft clear fiberglass board, they would be nice for downhill use with a smaller downhill wheel that is not too small. That was the only skateboard I could ever get to use work well for me and do slalom stuff with.

I think skateboarding is gonna go with wider decks and trucks and glowing grafics that you can do rail trick's on with no demage on the grafic, some special wheels that still work the same but don't make you fall when you get wheel bites and the smoothest cheap bearings that don't get dirt in them and grip tapes that don't rip your shoes, or shoes made of a special leather that can last for years. In the early 2000’s, I worked at a skate shop that was about 30 miles south of Santa Cruz, and it was some of the most fun I’ve ever had. At the time, Santa Cruz and Bills Wheels Skate Shop was, and still is, a big deal where I live. I’m nearly 40 now, but this brought me back. I got to do so much at the shop, like learn how to build a deck, and perfect the art of laying down some grip without any bubbles. I got to meet Eric Koston, and have lunch with the Listen Skateboard Team (which I’m not sure is a thing anymore). I must have watched Baker 3 a thousand times! Haha! Your topics are really good and you present it really well, keep going with it because your skateboarding history and facts are almost always topics that people who love skateboarding with a passion will appreciate. i think your onto a good thing here.
Grossos love letters was really good with information and facts just for skateboarders and i felt it had found its own unique place in skateboarding that was well liked. I'm not saying be like Grosso, the reason i liked him so much was he was original and had his own style which is the same reason i like what you do. There aren't many skaters out there with the ability to present the way you do buy yourself. The 9 club for example is a great show with a great format and the guys do well together but if there was only 1 of them there i don't think the show would be as good because there not talented entertainers there talented skateboarders. keep doing what your doing and who knows, maybe Van Doren will make you an offer you cant refuse.

great video but, you can not do a skateboarding history video without mentioning Jay Adams. How the contest tricks in the early 70s were handstands, no shoes and tic tacing. Jay brought aggressive surf curves, hands on the pavement, style to magazines.

Hot take, mall grab is chill if you have so much sweat and blood on your hands that if you grab the deck, it’s going to moisture delaminate!

What about g&s ?? They was around in 70s. Because stacy Peralta was riding for before Powell Peralta. Dont forget sims?? And in 80s later on lake skates on east coast Florida. When mark lake went from walker to his company lake skates.. don't forget airwalk old time skate shoes.. in fact maine had a skateboard company in late 80s and early 90s called "who skates" ??.. east coast company..shut ?? Because they was around 80s and 90s.. how about brand x and toxic skateboard company's Patrick truitti owns.. and they had brand x boards in background in thrashin movie in hooks kitchen.. t&c another company.. there was alot of other company's back then.. and some never get as much hype for what they have done for the sport. Allen losi family help the original variflex skateboards before they sold out to Taiwan company and was sold like in kmart or Ames stores. ..

True, those are two huge brands we should have touched on. We're actually talking with Sims right now about doing something and launching some sims videos in the future here 🙏

@@ShredzShop that be kool.. you should do something about walker and lake skates and mark lake night mare board. Also toxic and brand x Patrick truitti company. And also do something about Allen losi and his family and how he went to variflex to his own company and his health issues crps/rsd.. because I talk to them all in my Instagram.. I had a Facebook account but I deleted my account on Facebook because to much drama. But I talk to them. And mark lake and Patrick truitti are making reissue decks in there company. Also I talk to bucky lasek and Steve steadham alot..

@@ShredzShop also I talk to mark heintzman.. just wish that g&s would reissue his finger print deck he had back then. I had one as a teenager in late 80s and early 90s.. but wish the older company's do more reissue decks. Like tony alva I wish he made some his reissue decks from back then in late 80s and early 90s.. collectors still collecting. I got a few original decks and few reissue decks. But there for my little kids to have when either I'm gone..😇

I also feel talk when things diversified because popsicle stick tick board is one trick pony. even smaller wheels. Those wheels are too small ready which why more diversification is need.
