My first love and still today. I saw one when i was like 9 years old and completely fall in love with it, now there is a red gti on my garage since 2009 :D
Me to
I bought a black Gti 29 years ago. Still have it...Still going. 570000 km and the engine unopened.I buy other cars but this one grows with me. Now...29 years later i only say...Pure Analog Driving Time Capsule
@@mlegatusgrwtf that’s crazy. Do you still have this car?
I wish I still had mine. Greatest car for the money ever made. Go fast? Yep. Economic? Yep. Handle like a go kart? Yep. Park anywhere? Yep. Good in snow? HELL YEAH IT IS. Ok then... Reliable? HELL YEAH IT IS. I sold mine (foolishly) with 480,000 miles on it and in perfect running condition.
One of my all time favorite cars. I'm a particular fan of the 1st generation with the stacked fog/parker light front bar and squared off 80's styling.
My 1st car & still keep it since 1995
Love it, fun to drive & 3 pedals
Manual rock!
Yes. It is a fun car to drive.
Having owned one of these for five years, I concur with your assessment of the vehicle. It is a wonderful car, almost as fun to drive as my Miata. I'm glad you had the chance to experience one...they are awesome automobiles, a true unsung hero for Suzuki and the late 89's to mid 90's.
I lasted four years (with no air con) in my midnight blue GTi, now drive an ND MX-5 (Miata). I miss the rawness of the engine, the ride was pretty comfy though.
This guy would be an amazing flight attendant
We used to call these the ''McDonalds car'' back in the 90's, they were so popular there was one on every corner lol, they were great little cars, the original pocket rocket taking the fight to Aussie 5ltr cars, before the GC8 WRX came and stole the show that is......This model was available in Japan in 4WD trim too, known as the ''Cultus'' a few people imported the running gear from Japan back in the day to convert their local GTi's , some even turbocharging them to take advantage of the AWD traction... The tough little 1300's were also a popular transplant in dune buggies etc.. The GTi 1300 had a much sweeter exhaust note than Toyota's 4AGE in my opinion!
Nice one! I drive a 92 Liberty RS, the great grandfather of the modern WRX! Watching your GTi video brings back memories of the 90's automotive scene, so many good performance cars! Was also the great turbo era, every manufacture had a great turbo car ...Sadly now days with tight emission levels and the global financial downturn, nobody is making these special cars. Keep up the good work mate!
They were definitely a cult car. something most people don't remember is that while Mazda were taking down Porsche at Bathurst and Eastern Creek in the 12hr endurance races. Suzuki were also class leaders for the same amount of years with the GTI.
I Remember Dick Johnson driving the old 4WD TX3 turbo's in JH 12 hour too, lol
Oh the sweet 90s. I used to raced these gtis with my pulsar ET. Good ol dyas
The old N12 ET turbos were cool, used to be a couple at the street drags i used to go to...
I'm not a huge fan of Suzuki's but this one looks quite cool. Very Japanese inside and out. Fantastic video as always
Nice review. My cousin had a white Suzuki gti with tinted windows and it was the coolest thing ever back then! 😎
Great production value in this video!
+TassieLorenzo
Thank you.
Congratulations! I had the same mk2 in 1994 and it was the car of my life. I still in love with it, but I bought it. Now, I'm looking for another mk2.
Isn’t 94 a mk3?
Ive got a 91 holden barina which is a swift with the g13b motor, its my first car and its so nice to drive, ive never driven another car that handles as well as it does. Its a 5 speed manual, other than a fuel pump and the fact its a bit rough on cold starts its a really reliable car
I had so much fun with this little monster. i owned a commercial version with no backseats weighing just about 800kg with a slightly boosted 135hp engine and high torque transmission setting. Shame they weren't built to last except for the nearly indestructible engine.
You have been to redline gti forum:)...great little car!! and great video..2 years later!
I got a 1990 Swift GTi in 2012 as my first car, sold it this time last year because i didn't have the money to keep it going. Selling it was the hardest thing I've done, It had it's problems, but i absolutely adored it, but it was because i loved it that i couldn't take it to a wreckers.
Parents would never shut up, wanting me to get rid of it. They were always saying it in a playful tone, became a bit of a meme, "so Brandon, when you selling the Suzuki," 'never' was always the reply. I miss it so much 😭😭
I got my first one in 2000. most guys were driving vw golf or opel kadett. lot of people thought there was a 1.6 16v iso 1.3
Had one, loved it. Lift off oversteered so predictable on dry and wet tarmac, soil, grass, wet grass, snow and i lacked balls to try ice. It is great, it really is. Have fun guys! Btw: Please don't rev cold engines.
:)
I am glad that someone actually picked this up that I was revving the car when it was cold.
Normally for most of my videos - I shoot the engine section after the test drive and the engine is already at running temp but obviously that's not the case here.
An absolute fun car to drive.
This car was still produced in Pakistan as 1.0efi five doors..... Very successful car in Pakistan but unfortunately it's been replaced by Suzuki celario..... Still people are crazy for this car and converting to 1.6liter engine from Suzuki esteem.. I have sedan version of this car... Very fun little car but mine has no rattle or what so ever I have 1997 model loving it ..
As an owner of a newest generation swift glx turbo, i am really glad of the heritage of the swift nameplate. Suzuki can make amazing little engines and the current 1.0 turbo is a gem, although its slower than the old GTI which has lower power and much less torque. I wonder why as there is not a huge difference in weight.
i have one the very same colour but no fade, modified yes & very powerful little beast like no other cars out there. this is my 5th one as i miss them once i sell & wont sell this rare blue one i now have.
I agree with you. the modern cars has become faster, safer but also heavier at the same time. You just do not get the same thrills driving them.
Is an really excellent car, here in my country is used for races i have an 1.6 automatic sedan and an a5 coupe and i am happy with both cars becouse i can costume Swift
Awesome video. Can you do a long term review one day?
Thank you. I do not have the car anymore so I would not be able to do a long term review. Sorry.
i have one & im in same state
My granny owns one and holly fuck, they are the perfect match. My grandma drives sporty... If you know what I mean. That car is in perfect hands, she had it since its release, and its still almost 100% factory state, everything works on it, even the ac. And even with the stock exhaust, it sounds beasty for a car like this. I learned to drive on it when I was 11, Im now 18 and strongly thinking about buying one as a first car. Good review!
Thank you for sharing your story. It is almost impossible to find these cars without any modifications at all.
Good luck with the purchase. You cal also consider 4th or 5th generation Honda Civic with VTEC engines. They are really fun to drive car as well. Test drive one, if you have not already!
If you live in Europe, those little cars are abundant there. Especially in Hungary!
Love your vid man. I've had a 92 and a 96. The 96 had better handling but I think that was the rim size and low profiles. Saying that both were my life. I've had a lot of fun in these 👍🏻 on a straight they lag a little behind Vtechs but if you get them on a backroad they're toast 😂
Could not agree more. It was an absolute joy to drive this one!
It's like the geo metro but available in Australia!
this was my first car in 1998
reallyy good video. i wonder if you tried the 1.3 Sedan one?
Thanks. I have not tried the sedan. But, to be honest I do not think the sedan is going to be as fun to drive as will be a little heavier and i do not the sedan comes with the same EFI engine.
+Z Car Reviews Right. In my country it's called Esteem, and it has 1.3 or 1.6 litre carbureted engine. Performance? really slow haha, but it has great MPG and a very reliable yet durable indeed. Anyway, i just subscribed. Keep making a great personal car review, man!
Vivaldy isme orng kita ini mah
Front and rear sway bars and H&R springs make a huge difference on the Swift GT. It’s really fun then.
Lift off oversteer is great in this one. I loved mine and shouldn't have sold it. But i have great hopes in the new swift sport, because it'll have less than 900kg too.
Where is it's mostly available
The car that I grew up with my dad 2 of this in red
My grandmotrher drives one of these :)
You got a super cool granny!
You'r grandmother is far cooler than you'll ever be.
Make sure you're in her will and she leaves you that car. For the love of god listen too me on this.
Love this engine
I want to swap it in a suzuki zen
A lot of them are sold in Jamaica.
This car can fit a person who is 2 meters tall or 78 inches?
Suzuki produced a 5 door model of this car named Suzuki Cultus in Pakistan with a 1 litre engine till 2017! They kept improving some stuff xD
Was in production till 2017! That is amazing.
Dude I'm from Pakistan and the cultus vxri had power windows.... Power steering.... and power mirrors but no one was intrusted in these options so most of the people had bought a base variant....
Which engine you use
Still five door 1L engine variant is still available in Pakistan called suzuki cultus and it is the most successful car for years.
Is it the same generation swift that they are selling there or a new generation model you are referring to?
Z Car Reviews In 2017 it was changed to a very boring car, but there are older models still avaliabke
Do you have any HD or full HD photos of this one?
Yes. I have some picture of the car during the video shoot.
Z Car Reviews It would be great to have one in my album :D
PM the link to your facebook account or something like drop box or google drive. I will send you the pictures.

3:43 VVT KICKED IN
I have a 94 GT parked in my garage. Engine starting knocking and haven’t found the root cause??? Checked main and rod bearings and for flakes in the oil - Nothing! Probably piston slap 🤷🏻♂️ I’ll need to tear the whole engine apart and inspect for the obvious. Miss driving my GT. They’re great on gas especially with petrol being expensive 😬
Hope you get to the bottom of the engine knock.
I can't remember the last time I saw one on the road in SA(South Australia)!
Hey man do companies still make parts for these cars? I'm actually considering one
Fuck yeah fire balls!
👍
nice review! maybe next time clean the car a little better before filming;) but good job. greetz
Isn't that a simple Suzuki Cultus?
i want that 6 digit odometer
Revs the fuck out the car whilst cold, that’s the way to do it lol

Welcome to Optus customer service
On behalf of the Optus Team, I would like to apologise for the long wait time and will waive this month's charge for the inconvenience caused. Are you happy with the outcome sir?
On a serious note - Did you make this comment just because of the way I speak?
😂😂
Mid wing
Bought this in 1990. Drove it a year and traded it for a Civic Si. Never be looked back. Really poor quality. Especially the transmission shifting.
Looks like a cheaper version of Civic
Ugly wheels
Turbo it and make it back fire
