I could never get behind the whole laptop thing, serato djs always looked like they were writing an email. recently i was invited to a serato gig. so i got myself a flx4 to get a feel for being a laptop dj, its nice actually but i’m still not crazy about it, but this is going to make the flx4 super fun at home
......picture this, a standalone Serato device 😮😮😮. A device like the Mixstream Pro, even rane performer standalone device but serato dj pro OS instead of engine dj or rekordbox, no computer need. To me that would be the future of djing😊
back in the early days of underground raves and warehouse parties, the geekier and techier you looked the cooler you were because you dared to push the boundaries. Now in EDM culture, the snobbery is so cringe.
That being said, I can't see the cyberspace DJing aspect being of any use to me. Touch screen DJing is difficult enough with the lack of physical buttons, knobs and sliders. But I think the Augmented Reality aspect has exciting possibilities, including interaction with people on the dance floor wearing the same headgear and interacting in the same VR program. I think the dance scene will be much more visual but not to the point of blinding us from the real world. It's the same way I see Silent Disco, Silent Disco does not necessarily have to be completely silent. That's just silly. You can enjoy music in your headphones alongside music coming from loudspeakers at a low volume. Or even loudspeakers only playing bass and deep bass, while your headphones are playing the mids and highs, or full spectrum. It doesn't have to be all or nothing, black or white...
Let's meet up in VR! - Aaron
To me the subscription part of djay pro is what discouraged me. Engine dj is the only format l was willing to learn.

This is hobby level cool, in no way a professional paradigm shift as someone overstated.
Serato has been lacking for a very long time. They are just lucky to get all the turntablists early on and those people hate change.

What’s funny is Djay works better than Serato on CDJs lol
