      Lau Semog Exactly, people are so quick to say people deserve or are asking for it because they were flirting or they had a drug problem etc etc. NO ONE EVER deserve violence. It's really sad how a lot of people who go missing aren't even talked about because they aren't "perfect" in the media's eyes.it breaks my heart

      The killer was a career criminal named Raymond Moody. He confessed to kidnapping/murder and rape. He is the person who led investigators to where her remains could be found. Apparently, this creep did this crime alone. They had video evidence of his car in the area where Brittanee disappeared. South Carolina has the death penalty. He is done.

    I vacation at Myrtle Beach and last fall me and two of my girl friends were staying at the Sea Dip Hotel. We had several encounters with strange men who were much older than us trying to get us to "party" with them. Keep in mind we are three eighteen year old girls staying alone. At 5 am we were awaken from our sleep to a loud bang on the door. When we asked who it was there was no answer. So we got out of our beds and tried to look through the peep hole but this was covered by someone's hand. We saw a pair of boots underneath the door and they lingered around the room for 20 minutes we watched his shadow pace back and forth. We called the front desk and they told us the police had just been let up to our floor, 10 minutes later the police knocked on our neighbors door and they shouted police open up. I know for a fact the police were not who was knocking on our door. It could've been the creepy men who had been watching us and coincidently the police had been called to the hotel next door they arrested a man who was staying beside us possibly he knew the police were coming and attempted to hide out in our room? Idk but moral of the story Myrtle beach has a lot of sex trafficking going on and girls need to be extra safe when vacationing here.

    I also live in NC and Myrtle Beach was the spring break destination for everyone. I remember going and much like Brittany, going out at night by myself. I sat on the beach and this man came and sat beside me. I wasn’t scared at all. After talking for a bit he asked me to come to his hotel room, that’s when I started to feel a little weird and said I had friends waiting for me back at my hotel. I often think what could have happened, at that age you are so sure you’re untouchable. You’re not

      I can relate.. unfortunately😐
      I was born and raised in Atlanta. When my younger sister was 16 she went out to a club and got tipsy. she went to take a taxi home ALONE.
      Noticed he was going the wrong direction. He tried to kidnap her I’m guessing to rape her and/or kill her. She jumped out of the car when they were at a light, ran, guy chased her so she went to jump a fence. somehow got caught ripped open huge gash on her leg. Made it to a gas station covered in dirt and blood.
      when I was her age I would do stupid things like that too:/ I feel lucky everyday.
      I’m 29 just had my first baby (girl) and I am beyond terrified. I don’t want to be one of those helicopter parents but damn😟

    Thank you for commenting that hiring a lawyer does not mean guilt. That’s our right as Americans. I can’t remember the boys name but there was a case where a teenage boy was charged with not only killing but raping an infant girl that died in his care. His family immediately hired a lawyer and refused to let him be interviewed. A medical expert his lawyer found was able to prove the child died of natural causes, possibly due to the parents neglecting to get her medical care despite knowing the child was sick and throwing up for days. The accusations of rape were unfounded. Had the parents let him be interrogated and not immediately hired a lawyer, he would probably be in prison labeled a murderer and child rapist.

She was 2 years younger than me and really made me rethink some of the decisions I was making like traveling alone and traveling at night. The month before she went missing I even remember helping my friend fake being with me when we were really traveling IN EUROPE!!!! If we'd gone missing, her family would never have known what was going on until it was too late. Never again. I hope they find Brittanee someday and that her family can find peace... or as much peace as they can given the circumstances.

    Just looking at DaShawn’s unnatural eye contact & the way his demeanour changed when saying there were no witnesses, really leads me to believe that he knows something. Also, wasn’t it 9pm at night & not 9am in the morning that she disappeared? Because he clearly could’ve been in school during the day and still had time to get there & help in the abduction of Britanee. School isn’t till 9pm!!! I don’t believe he physically abducted her...on the surface he seems & looks like a very innocent young man...maybe he offered her a ride & she accepted - after all, she literally invited a perfect stranger into her hotel room, which to me is like bringing a stranger off the street into your house....So I don’t think it’s out of the question that she got into the car with him. I feel like he definitely lured her & his dad & whoever else had their way with her & disposed of her. He definitely knows a LOT more. I think the FBI are trying to scare him into telling the real story & giving names & that’s why they’re going in HARD on him.

      lea martin Exactly my thoughts, and his body language is very telling. He was either lying multiple times throughout the interviews, or gets nervous and reacts in that manner. When asked the first 3 questions by the interviewer, the 1st was, "Did you kill, Brittanee?" he answered, no. Then the next two detailing attacking her etc. He looked down both times as he said no. That's often an indication of deception. He did several interesting things, in my opinion. Whether he was involved or not, he appears to be deceptive about knowing something. It may just be a nervous reaction, I smile and sometimes laugh when I'm nervous, but somehow his case seems different. I hope her family & friends get the answers they deserve soon.

      @epouvantail4428 5 лет назад

      The school alibi is not related to the robbery; he has no alibi for the robbery (he pled guilty and was convicted). The school alibi is in regards to the story told by the prison informant (Brown), which is almost certainly made up of a bunch of primarily second hand information. I think Brown may have witnessed Brittanee being raped in the stash house, but wasn’t there to witness the attempted escape or her murder, and thus the exact time and date of those events are uncertain. That’s why the school alibi is nonsense.

    So after watching this, you enlightened me with information I didn’t know before. I remember when she first went missing. I graduated high school in 2009 so I very much remember taking so same beach trips to myrtle beach during the summer after school. I very much remember walking down those same streets she walked. Ever since that guy and his dad have become person of interests, I’ve always believed they knew what happened to her. During interviews, he can’t keep constant eye contact. His head and eye movements show deception. Thank you for bringing this back into the spotlight. Hopefully soon we can know what really happened.

    I live just outside of Rochester and so this case crosses my mind a lot. I remember when it happened and it was all over the news. The local news still talks about her around the anniversary of her disappearance.

    I realize I am very late to see this video but I needed to say that I agree with you 100% about that beach town. I've been there many times and ended up staying in Garden City because there were no vacancies along the Myrtle Beach strip. It is super crowded at all times of the night and there are sketchy places that I would not go. There is no way DeShawn (?) could have pulled this off by himself being disabled. Someone had to help if it was indeed him. However, Myrtle Beach is known for a lot sex trafficking so I am afraid she was used for that. I hope all young naive girls see this video and hear this story. It should serve as a warning that bad things do happen when you least expect it and it can happen to anyone.

      You were right that they is no way he could have done this by himself cause he didn't even do it at all. The police's tunnel vision on a crippled black men meant they were spending all their energy in the wrong place. They might have even found Brittanee sooner had the seriously investigated all the other persons of interest on their list instead of sorely focusing on Taylor

She said that people always think they can tell when someone is lying based on their eyes and body language, but we can't. Cops think they can do it too, which is why we've had many false confessions (cop thinks the "suspect" is lying and pushes them over the edge). Don't be so confident in your assessment.

      Danielle Leon it MAY mean he's lying, looking down is not 100% proof of anything except that you're looking down. You can't pin a murder on someone because they looked down while being questioned, that's ridiculous. Im not saying I'm sure he didn't do it, but we don't know a single thing about his personality outside of the short clips we saw. Maybe he looks down all the time when speaking to an authoritative figure, we don't know. His behavior did not sway my feelings one way or the other because I just don't know enough about him outside of this interview.

    • @DarkAngel71180
      @DarkAngel71180 6 лет назад

      Cyndi Kwilas actually that's not even remotely true. When answering yes or no questions, most people retain eye contact with the person questioning them. When people are telling false stories they look up and to the left, when recalling true events they look up and to the right. This is because the creative part of your brain and the part that recalls real memories are located on opposite sides.

      @Anotherbeautyjunkie EXACTLY! That was my first thought. I live VERY close to the area and have followed the story since she disappeared, but never knew of this "stranger"! I do believe there is a very good possibility this mystery person could have something to do with it. Has anyone questioned him? It is very possible after that initial meeting and especially the fact that she invited him up to her hotel room that he could have started stalking her. Maybe he made sexual advances towards her that night in her hotel room and she turned him down. Then he got angry about it and started following her which ultimately led to her being kidnapped and murdered.

    • @Punk-Jw
      @Punk-Jw 5 лет назад +10

      He came forward with video of his encounter with her, and being in her hotel room. Why would he come forawrd with that information when no one knew who he was or had any connection to her what so ever? They had no idea this even happened until he came forward, He could have never said a word or showed any of the video and no one would have known the wiser. No I dont think hes suspect, or had anything to do with it. I personally have been in his situation before. I've given girls I didnt even know a ride home that were being bothered by someone potentially dangerous and I've scared off guys that were just being creepy as fuck towards girls that I knew of but wasnt exactly friends with because I just happened to be there. My girl friend at the time and I over heard these 2 girls talking about this man that was following them threw the holyoke mall so I had Brittany go ask them if they were ok while I looked around to see if I could spot anyone being creepy. One of the girls was shaking and literally started crying the very second Brittany asked if they were alright. We learned the 2 girls were 12 and 13 and were there with one of the girls parents. I looked around and noticed this old man very out of place that had this stupid grin on his face I wanted to slap right off of it and tried to make it look like he was looking at things on the wall but kept looking towards the girls and Brittanys direction. I walked over and asked if that was the man and they both told me yes, so angry I approched this man and asked him what the fuck he was doing and why those girls were afriad of him. He gave me an attitude, told me to mind my buisness, told me he didnt need to answer anything i asked and had no idea what I was talking about that he does not know them anyway. I had to get in his face and tell him he was seconds from a bleeding if he didnt leave and if he wanted he could go tell security, which did make him leave. So Brittany and I took the girls to find the mom they were with and the mom informed us that the girls familys lived across the street from each other and she allowed the girls to go around looking where they wanted threw the mall as long as they stayed together. She told us that 2 weeks prior to this the girls told their parents that this old man had talked to them walking by while the girls were in the yard but the mother told me that they pressed the girls pretty hard but didnt seem as though he did anything but he did ask the girls a few questions that could have potentially been inappropriate. She said this man was in his 70s and he was in fact a registered sex offender however the charge was almost 40 years old, I dont know what else came of this because we dont live in that area but I do know that this man never did go to security and we didnt see him again for the next hour or so we were still in the mall after leaving the girls with the mother. This was 7 or 8 years ago so hopfully the shit bag is just dead now.

    I know I'm watching this case very late, I just recently found this channel and now I'm binge watching so many of the cases that Danelle has reported on, and I just want to comment that the double jeopardy doesn't apply between state and federal, meaning that even though Deshawn was arrested an charged in state court with 2 yrs probation, federal court meaning FBI can come and recharge for the same crime. It's one of the few examples of getting around double jeopardy.

    Thank you so much for sharing these stories. It makes you really think how easy it is to be a missing person. For young people with crime, car accidents and mental health issues, and being informed on what these situations can look like before hand can help you stay out of danger or get help earlier. I remember when I was in Uni before "Netflix and chill" was really a thing, and I met this guy and he asked me over to his place to play video games. I'd met him on Facebook, never in real life and he was a lot older than me. At this point I had never as so much been on a date and didn't have many friends, I was so naive, I literally thought he just wanted to play video games. I told one of my friends but hid it from my mom because I knew she would say no and be paranoid. I didn't tell anyone his name or address, I just went there on my own. I did end up getting touched against my will, but not raped. Every time I think back on it after watching this series, like it's so easy for something to go wrong, to end up meeting someone truly dangerous. It's luck that the guy didn't take things further and wasn't truly deranged.
    There are some awful predators out there and I hope these videos make more young people aware of their surroundings and helps at least one person avoid potentially dangerous situation.

    Thanks for featuring this case. I am from South Carolina so I have also followed this case from the start. Double jeopardy doesn’t apply if changes are brought for the same crime by both federal and state authorities. The first time, he faced state charges and then the FBI brought federal charges. I hate crime against tourists who came to our state to have a good time and relax. I hope they find out the truth about what happened.

      That is correct, but it can sometimes be overruled anyways, in this case it wasn’t.

      Calm down. It IS in fact a narrative about a girl who was raped and killed so it can't be that great.

      I'm not going off on anything. It is just a very dark subject. I always feel like these should be talked about very delicately. To say it was such a great 45 minutes just sounds.... I don't know. I don't like how it sounds. But I am just some person on RUclips like all of us so what does it matter?

    Great job as always!! Can you PLEASE cover Clinton Nelson?? It’s like nobody will cover this case, his mother is heartbroken I saw it on disappeared and never saw anything else after that. When he disappeared he found he might be a father soon, his ex girlfriend was saying the baby may be his but probably wasn’t. He decided to get his life together and then went missing under extremely shady circumstances and it turned out the baby was his. So now there’s a little boy who never got to meet his daddy. Please Danelle, I’ve asked John too but for some reason no one will cover it.

    My cousins were related to her on the opposite side of their family. In September of 2015 I was home in NY. We went to visit with our cousins at their grandmas house. Brittanee’s grandmother happened to be there that day and she was talking about how they still had so much hope that she would be found alive somewhere. Not even a year later was when they got the horrible news. I’m so heartbroken for all of them. One of those cousins also drown in 2016 so for the family members who were close to my cousin and Brittanee it was two hits so close together. This is so awful, but I’m glad to see her talked about on here. Her family has fought so hard for her over the years I’ve followed everything the whole time hoping for the family to get some real answers.

Thank you for what you do! I’d love a podcast channel from you! If nothing else I’d love you to be a guest on Kendall Rae and Josh’s podcast!
