Maybe because more often than not, the teens make absolute fools of themselves whenerver they see something they never watched before(or even things they knew about before), making people who do know about what they're reacting to (and just other teens in general) feel uncomfortable, while the elders not only show interest in new things that the youger generations enjoy, but also have fun with those things whenever they like it, and when they don't like it, at least is understandable and easy to know why.
