the only thing it has in common with Super Mario is being a platformer and having vaguely goomba-like creatures. also the time thing is completely, completely different from the Sands of Time are you serious man
This is very similar in physics, gameplay and levels to the FREE and OPEN SOURCE Supertux for Linux, which in turn is a superMario clone... Asking that money just for changing the supertux backgrounds and adding new music is a bit on the expensive side in my opinion.
@BigDog91527 It's part of the gameplay. Some things reverse back in time while some other things don't, it really adds a lot of difficult scenarios to the game.
i wish i could create a game as beautiful as this, i can program, but i just dont have the art skills, im stuck making prototypes with horrible graphics :(
Oyaah man agree with you there :) I love the fact the puzzles are nightmarish. Take for example portal 2. Also, strains beyond the power of my brain. You need that in a game, so you'll never stop at it. Besides, the games sthrengtened through its pretty backdrop. :O

I guess half of the people commenting on this video and complaining about its price never really played the game or even thinks about trying it, I understand it's perfectly normal to judge a book by its cover, but let me tell you something, this game tells one of the most complex and rewarding stories I've ever seen, and Im not talking just about indies, I mean any games in general. If you are one of those people who enjoy a deep plot, then this is truly an experience you cannot afford to lose.
I don't think he was saying most games have bad music, just that most games don't have RELAXING music. I'm not so certain most people would call Ridley's theme from Super Metroid relaxing, for example. :P But I agree with you
+Kai i agree this game sucks balls there is this really neat point and click game called machinarium its way better then this and its music is also awesome
+Kai More work than this? The guy who wrote this (Jonathan Blow) designed it by himself with little to no help. I distinctly remember watching a talk of his where he mentions that Braid is over 90,000 SLoC. You can have your opinions about the game, but I wouldn't go around assessing how much "work" was put into it, because you clearly don't know how difficult game development is.
It doesn't matter how much work HE put in, but the total amount of work in the game, so a team of 50 ppl working on a game generally get more work put into it. And you're the one that doesn't know about game development because 90000 lines of code isn't particularly impressive; and, the code could just be poorly optimized.
90,000 lines of code without a backing game engine written by one person in 3.5 years certainly is impressive. Also, "more code" does not equate to "poorly optimized". In fact, it's quite often the opposite.
When working alone on codes, you are more likely to leave similar codes not functioned, and using or not using variables that will shorten the code; (not optimizing the code)
@catalincatala yes it can... xbox pad is supported out of the box, the interface changes to the color icons of the xbox buttons automatically... the pad rumble in the game is real fun:)
you don't have to do the double jump on the monster to get to another platform. just jump on the one below !, and you will reach the right platform at 5:30

“Does this look like a goomba to you?!”
This is an incredible game. Makes you really think about experiences in our lives. I still play it to this day.
This is one of the most memorable games from my childhood
It's funny because the game feels like Super Mario Bros. for Artists
God this game is so beautiful, from the graphics to the soundtrack. Brings me so much nostalgia
The moment the gameplay started I knew I was looking at something special :)
That’s pathetic
@@dann6065 you're pathetic

I'm here because Minecraft told me to try Braid also.

You searched for it before it was made pretty impressive.
@@kynikersolon3882 yeah cos of im time traveller
I'm watching this video for the music more than anything. It's so freaking calming.
Thank you Jon Blow for this masterpiece 🙏🏽
DAT MUSIC OMG!!!
So this is like a Hipster's version of Super Mario.
you are being deceived. they want you to think this is like Mario
I just looked this up because of a Dorkly video that said the same thing.
came here because dorkly
Ooh! It's a Mario
*bow* that...was the correct answer...
Minecraft's menu led me here..."Also try Braid!"
Same xD

Unlike most video games, this one relaxes you with its beautiful music and levels.
i agree. It looks pretty bad but alot of people say its fun.... i can't figure it out. Maybe i'll give the game a try.
This game is brilliant and has one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard.
I only found out about this game cause of Dorkly

this game is overrated.

One word for this game: Bellizimo!!!
It's only similar to mario at the beginning.
The game is about various time manipulation techniques and solving puzzles (lots of them).
Dat ending~
Man, I always used to watch people play this, and some dude said that this was an official Nintendo game, and I believed them!
The sound works well with the art direction.. but its also slow and tones down the action of game play.
no one gives indie artist the respect they deserve....
@19Jones91 This game is brilliant ..... Brings a diverse, beautiful platformer and inrestng gameplay.
