This work draws inspiration from the intricate microtonal patterns woven by the Tarkas, traditional wooden instruments of the Andean highlands of South America. When played, the Tarkas respond dynamically to the strength of each breath, producing rich multiphonics, timbral shifts, and subtle microtonal inflections. Typically performed in large ensembles, these instruments create a communal soundscape, emphasizing musical dialogue and shared resonance. In Diálogos Tarkas, the saxophone ensemble and electronics explore this spirit, celebrating the depth of sound and the interplay of voices in sonic conversation.
