I agree. It’s brilliant cause it makes sure that we’ll watch the whole thing or at least listen to it cause if you skip it then you miss some action. Lol.
It has been so cool to see Josh evolve as a youtuber on this channel. Not just anyone can step in front of a camera and effectively teach someone a new skill. I see shades of Norm and Steve TOH (I was too young to remember Bobby V on the show).
@@macallan3933 um. My table saw is from the 50's? Very old craftmans table saw. There is absolutely no safety features whatsoever. Like most tools and equipment from that era and before. I have to be very careful using it.

Yes, more Josh videos! Love the potential this format opens up. One person has time work on a big project in the background, and the other can still record a smaller weekly project video. Would also be fun to see a "Wives of ILTMS" collab, where the spouses all work together on a project. Or a challenge build between teams of spouses/families.
Props for sharing both the wood split failure AND the repair. Woodworking is as much about handling unexpected things as it is about planning and normal operations.
I really like this video because there are bits of the overall build that can work and be applied elsewhere. Also agree with previous comments that more is learned by leaving errors and mistakes in your videos for us regular folks to learn from. Keep up the good work!
Fantastic result and very well presented and very true to life, too many videos are flawless and just not representative of what happens when we make stuff. Always appreciated the outakes at the end of the videos, again reflective of how mistakes are made and we are just human. Loved this and would greatly receive more Josh videos please!
Love that you left the missteps in there. Nothing is more discouraging than seeing makers do everything perfectly and then having numerous mistakes as you try to replicate their project.
So awesome to see more of Josh. Also, thank you SO MUCH for keeping it real and showing us the challenges you ran into. It’s really helpful to be reminded that even woodworking wizards make mistakes and run into challenges. The closet turned out great!
No matter how smart or skilled you are, being on camera is a skill of its own, and by my beard did Josh put in some work to hone this skill since joining this channel. Its great to see this team grow, not only in size but in range, too. But now that Josh is a full-fledged presenter I expect 2x as many videos a week! ;) Would love to see a video on the 2nd channel about your project management and planning process, beyond the woodworking - how you lay out your resources, plan timelines, storyboard the videos or whatever else you do to take an idea and turn out a finished video.
@@Iliketomakestuff Josh said. 'That what making is, you figure it out, you screw it up and you figure it out again'. Great concept and fun video! Tip: When making profiles with a template, trace all the parts from the pattern, rough cut off waste with band saw or jig saw, then use the template to finish with router. Saves time and router bits (plywood is tough on them) because routing a bunch of material is no fun! Nice work!
Great Job Josh... this is what I love about ILTMS, you guys show the entire process (mistakes or lessons learned, and adapt). Life is not perfect, and few things turn out how we planned or envisioned...but the end result is still awesome!
thank you all for all the awesome content you make! you're projects have inspired so many of mine. the first project i remember making from your videos was the buffed out nerf gun. i really wish i could join the patreon but all the money i make goes straight to new projects. I'm still looking for more parts for the guitar i'm building that are within my price range. thank you!

I really liked this video! Josh did a really nice job with this project and with driving the video on his own. Looking forward to more of his content in the future!
Oh! I have a shelf unit that I filled with laser cut trays too! It is our “linen closet”. I had the laser cut an oval in the top front of each as a handle to make it easier to pull out, and to make them pretty my partner just painted them. To make them slide in and out more easily we glued (front to back) strips of felt, like runners on a sled, to the bottom of each box. They glide much more nicely that way.
Brilliant! It is so good to see someone who is 'learning', mess up a bit because majority of us watching mess up loads. It is all part of the process and it is all good but some youtubers make it appear as though they never mess up. Thanks for everything! :-)

And hey, if you put that one shelf all the way up top. You can ignore it for as long as you want! Unless you're a sadist, then put it somewhere in the middle.
At 3:41 when you're talking about making a curve with a very large ruler by bending the ruler... something that works even better is a thin 1/4" balsa/basswood stick. You can get a pack of 5-6 at your local hobby craft store (like Hobby Lobby) and they're 3' long I believe (mine are in a package at home on my desk due to my model boat building so I can't check for another 4 hours). Just make sure to give a light pressure while you're attempting the bend, otherwise you might snap the stick.

For bending wood you can try to use hot steam on it to soften the fibres, when bent and left to dry the piece of wood will retain its shape without too many stress points
I predict that it will work because the curve is gentle and Josh is skilled. Time to see if I'm right!
