As a former musician, I appreciate this message-
the SDA is one of the best kept secrets in Christianity, and it’s ridiculous that it is..
So glad that Walter and Martin do not tip toe around, quietly whispering the amazing truths of this church.
Thanks for motivating me to prayer about my musical tastes!
My last church did their best to keep me thinking that lyrics are the only criteria for what is Godly music.
I struggle in this area. Badly.
But God is a miracle worker, and I’m a work in progress..
I’m still working on 20 or so percent on my diet, among other things..
But even so, I’m sharing these things with everyone who will let me..
God bless you
That's great to hear. Thanks for sharing, and keep fighting
I am also working on my diet. God bless
Depends on the church actually. My son in law who is bilingual attends a Spanish church when we moved here as he knew no one and wanted to make Christian friends. We noticed and was very happy as he never was inclined to spiritual matters before, however we noticed no improvement in knowledge of doctrine or knowledge of anything Adventist over the next year. My wife made several surprise visits to check the church out as she is also bilingual. She told me the reason he wasn't learning anything was because the pastor and leaders weren't teaching anything that is was basically so dumbed down that a kindergardeners intelligence would be insulted.
🙋Joe,
Keep moving upward. It's obvious that God is helping you in your Christian walk.
Bro Joe. That is a great testimony. I too struggle with this music aspect. Praise be to God for not quitting on us.
Hymns are most definitely NOT boring!
As long as they are played and sung with joy... I grew up with them sounding like we were sad and left them for quite some time. I'm blessed to be part of a church with pianists who play at tempo. 🙏
I was in Punk and hardcore bands before becoming a SDA . Now I play soft guitar and sing praises to Jesus in our church. God is so amazing 🙏🏻
🙋 Hooray 🎉 for how far you've come.
♥️♥️♥️
When I first came into the church I didn't like the old hymns. Firstly because the music seemed out of date, and secondly because the voices of the small congregation didn't give the hymns justice.
After a few months (and growing in understanding of the scriptures) I remember when my heart changed in regard to the hymns. All of a sudden, I wasn't hearing the voices of those around me anymore, but I was hearing the words, and my heart sang for joy.
Amen!
So many of the hymns are sermons in themselves.😊
Hi from Adelaide Australia, this teaching is absolutely essential, especially for all Christians, most just don't get the influence this media has on society thank you I'm blessed already 🎼🎵🎶🎻🤗
Amen 🙏🙏🙏
And hi from the Mornington Peninsula Australia as well. I love these broadcasts and it’s a fantastic way to bring in the sabbath for me - has been for the past three years. ❤
Also from Adelaide, Australia. May we share this appreciation of Truly Reverent, Joyful Music, not to be ashamed of!
Over the past few years I’ve been searching for CDs of hymns that we could sing along with
Would anyone be able to help please ?
Maybe names singers of the CDS
All of my favorite hymns! I sang “And Can It Be” for the first time as a closing hymn after hearing Walter preach his Corporate Identity message in the Startup, WA church. I couldn’t even sing; I wept through each succeeding stanza as the reality of who I am IN Christ Jesus my Lord sank in. I’ve been an SDA all my life, but at 60 years old it finally, finally struck my heart. The sermon and song together brought the reality of conversion to me. Praise God, it found out me!
Amen. And my father lived in Startup when he was young we visited your church at least once when he took us to see the homestead. Jesus is coming soon
I love these two men and their teaching of the Bible.🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Thank you, Walter Veith. I've been waiting for you to speak on this. Worldly music has inundated our SDA churches, and it breaks my heart.
Me, too.
Out on vacation visiting my son, and I cannot miss an episode of WUP. What a blessing! Thank you, Lord. ❤🙏🏻
"Amazing Grace" has always been my favorite gospel song, written by the ex-captain of a slave ship, demonstrating ANYONE can be redeemed - no matter what you did in the past. Thank God for you two gentleman, and the divinely inspired conversations you have on this channel, you are my spiritual inspiration and mentors.
Hello from beautiful Central East Kentucky. Really appreciate the straight truth and current events in light of Bible Prophecy!
Great message. Oftentimes, old worldly music gets stuck in my head and I pray for God to take it from my mind and replace it with a good hymn. He is faithful in doing so. Just today, he took an old song from my mind and brought Higher Ground to mind. A hymn I haven't heard in a good while. Praise God for His faithfulness!
The good Lord has given us so much, and we give Him so little.
"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever." Psalm 23 KJB
It is indeed well with my soul when Jesus is given full control of one's life. God bless the harmony that exists in and among present truth preachers and ministries. Mercy.. mercy upon all that still in support of unchristian music
May we let the Lord keep us Steadfast in Him.
Though Satan should buffet
Though trials may come
Let this Blessed Assurance control
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate
And has shed His own blood for my soul.
It is well with my soul.
Psalm 150 has a "Musical Message" for all.
Thank God for What's Up? Prof.
Blessings to you all at CoM Ministries.
Health and Strength, and Wellbeing, Mentally Physically and Spirituality, by Christ Jesus.
Amen.
🙏😊💕😊🙏
The Lord Jehovah be praised. The Scripture is clear; stick to the old ways and walk ye there in. Every What's Up Prof is dear to me. This number 168 will always be is very, very SPECIAL! Each Sabbath worship I always pray that our worship would be a foretaste of how they worship God in heaven.
This episode is deep so deep🙏🏽🙌🏽.
Desperately needed within this Movement at such a time as this.
Please sing this song Martin..many will be bought to their knees by such LOVE of GOD 📖📚
Straight truth told here. Thank you so much 💓
Praise God for this ministry! ✨️🌹
🙋Hi guys, I grew up in the age of rock music and loved bands like Journey, Bob Seger, Eagles, Elton John, Air Supply, and the top ten. Though I still enjoy hearing these songs, when they're played at stores when shopping, listening to them privately tends to depress me due to their carnal nature.
When I came into the church, aside from hymns, I love musicians like Keith Greene, Steve Camp, John Michael Talbot, Wes King, Steve and Annie Chapman, later David Teems, Fernando Ortega, and of course the top ten.
Though I can't carry a tune to save my life, I don't have any problem knowing what music is appropriate at church. Some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard are hymns. I love the "The Holy City" by Vera Lynn, "We Have Heard From the Holy Land", "It Is Well With My Soul", "Balm of Gilead", etc.
I can only imagine the exquisite music of heavenly angels.
👁️👁️⚖️✝️🩸👑🕯️🍞💧🌡️😡🌪️🌋👀👂🙏⏳, i threw out every bit of my worldly music and never listened to it again, best calming, God Jesus Christ and music that Glorify's Him, I'm Pastor Veith's age but i enjoyed from 1920's to when God Jesus Christ pulled me out of the world , Praise God Thank You Jesus Christ
I'm quite surprised you didn't mention brother Martin Smith. and sister Sonica Veith.
They have angelic voices.
@@honeybadger8942🙋Honey, honestly I have not listened to much music, of any kind, for a few years.
I have not heard any from Martin or Sonica, but I believe you when you say they sing beautifully.
@@turtlegrams6582🙋 Turtle grams, Good for you 👍 Blessings on you and yours.🙏
What a blessing I got from your presentation of the truth through songs! God Bless!
It's always uplifting to listen to this program.
I also went through a “Job experience”, but thanks your teaching 😅 poverty has become me. I look forward to this lecture every week. ❤
I like many others would like to see professor Walter and Martin Sing in their next show .
Waiting 😊
How timely...music is meant to be heavenly
Amazing. In the early 70s I studied about Church music and its role in the worship service. I learned some of these very principles you shared.
By the late 70s a marked shift away from hymns and gospel songs was being agitated from one front or another. Then came the praise worship, dance songs with the almost deafening music. The counsels of the Spirit of Prophecy on church music became points of discord in the local congregation. We went chasing after the world as is so often the case.
Today's clarion call to music reform for the individual Christian and for churches was long overdue. I love the hymns for their great spiritual impact and encourage congregations to sing them as often as I have opportunity imploring them to pay attention to the words of the song even more than to the tune.
Thank you both for your faithfulness
Amen
Straight truth said with genuine Christian Love ❤️
Amen!
AMEN! “Music is the universal language of the soul!” Beth
I want to share this..
When we were converted from catholic to adventist we learn to worship GOD morning/evening.
One early morning me and my husband ...my eldest son, Dennis and daughter, Maricel Tactay, are doing our worship and we were singing "Fairest Lord Jesus" and when the worship was done...somebody was knocking outside the garage and when we let her in(friend of ours) she was amazed because she heard that there are lots of people singing....
Now I know that holy angels sing with us when we sing for GOD..because they love to praise HIM too.
Catholic ...they have solemn and heavenly songs.
@@catalinotactay7924🙋 Catholic, True, and...
May they realize the paganism of their religion... Just as we all must analyze what we believe and why.
I thoroughly enjoyed this presentation. As the church organist of a small country church, I embrace hymns over anything else as the music spiritual leader .. Hymns are truly a ‘mini’ sermon and have been written by people who surrendered their lives totally to Christ. Thankyou gentleman 🙏
I continue to thank God for the ministry of these two brothers in Christ. And I, like you, look forward to hearing heavenly music to which nothing that this world's nightclubs can compare🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾
I love hymns but it took me a long time to really learn to sing them because of my interlectal disability but it was worth it and doing audio visual at church is a big help as it helps me learn the lyics as I have really listen to the words and melody 😎 im however and no offence to anyone not a fan of hillsong or certain types of contempary Christian songs that are not in align with bible. Just sharing. 😎
People put 👍please. Help the ministery.❤❤❤❤
Thanks for your beautiful words ❤ may the Lord bless you both and your families.
Oh lord help us ( ME) To surrender ALL!!. In Jesus mighty name!.
I love the total onslaught theme song , courage to us to trust in Jesus
Beautiful, this really features the essence of hymns/right music in worship.
I thank God for introducing me to music dedicated to Him when I was very young. I remember hearing Handel's Messiah and being utterly spellbound. I listen to it at least once a year and from it I learned many texts from the Bible. Similarly I listen to 'The Crucifixion' every Good Friday despite the snobbish slurs made against Stainer. Thank you God for giving me this music which is such a wonderful prayer of your life! Later I sang the Holy music of Bach, the St Matthew Passion in particular, and even Verdi's Nabucco and William Walton's Belshazzar's Feast. Most of all the Psalms, especially singing in a country Church with the west door open at Evensong on a Summer evening. Oh the glory of music about You God! Thank you!
Ooohhh, we love an extra long WUP! 💙💙💙
Thanks for another great video gentlemen, may God continue to keep you both amidst the fiery trials we shall face. One of the hymns that gives me great comfort is #506," A Mighty Fortress Is Our God."
This song sums up The Great Controversy and reminds us we have the victory through Christ Jesus our LORD. God bless!
When I turn on the radio in my car and hear modern music, I have to turn it off. It hurts my ears to hear it these days. When I sing a hymn, more often than not, I cry. I don’t know why but hymns move me. My father was the same way…genetic? Who knows… Cheers, John
it's probably because the heart yearns for the joy that is coming. Not temporary joy that the modern songs offer, but the everlasting joy that is coming. I was deep into rap, i feel an andrenaline rush every time i hear the beats and lyrics. But then a sudden drop of dopamine when the music stops. It's a different feeling when you listen to hymns. when the music stops, your heart is still heavenward. It's stuck on truth that Christ is ever so near. No sudden adrenaline rush when we hear, no sudden dopamine drop when the music stops. Your emotions are stable, still within the bounds of reality, yet your hearts are heavenward, far from this dark reality.
True!
Looking forward to another educational lecture! Keep them coming please! Thank you!
Mi Walter and Martin your topic is relevant for us now more than ever
I agree completely! I once listened to other types of music, other than gospel.. all while believing that I was living right to the best of my knowledge.
THEN, God opened my eyes to the fact that any other music did not give him honor, praise, or glory! I took this to heart! I began to look at it as What Would Jesus Do?? I instantly knew the answer, and stopped from that moment on listening to any other than about him! 🙌
No worldly song deserves our time!! Jesus deserves every song, praise, and glory from our lips, our voices, and our heart.
Praise be to the holy name of Jesus✨️🙏🏼
Aretha Franklin is the best gospel singer.
Oh I should have said Walter's & many of us favorite hymn..include the verse you both read out so Beautiful.
I always have this big smiles on my face listening to this 2 men talk about the pilgrims journey. 😊😊 happy sabbath
Great analysis of a couple of my most favorite hymns over the last 45 years!
I'd just want to share, Today l encountered a Divine Appointment, my son Jason is finally getting help for all his disabilities. Praise His Holy Name, for His mercies, faithfulness are Real, True.Thank You JESUS, what an Unfathomable Saviour we serve. 🎼🎵🎶🎹🎻🎺
Music is such a huge part of worship!! We must be aware of the lyrics of Christian music even some hymns can convey false doctrine like “I’ll fly away” however I’ve heard some rectify the state of the dead theme to a Biblical truth. Thank you for addressing music! I personally appreciate acapella hymns as you can really enjoy the harmonies of the human voice.
🙏watching from Jamaica, very good presentation 👍
When I changed my music, I changed. From the demonic impure sort, to the pure sacred sort. From selfishness to selflessness. From being nonchalant to the plight of the people, to greater concern for the plight of the people
i hope all SDA will hear about this video🙏
I woke up singing that song 🎶 today ❤️❤️😘
Baie dankie! Mag ons Vader julle aanhou seën en Prof. Walter spoedig 100% gesond wees.
Has he been unwell? I don't remember him mentioning it.
Thank you so much prof. Veith/Martin for choosing this topic "Praise Songs"that are worthy to be offered to our CREATOR.
Oh, I love this couple of pastor's. And that hymn #198 "And Can It Be" is such perfect biblical, doctrinal musical sermon of the love of God.. I recently sang it with my 8 yr old nice. Lovely hymn.
🙋LUV 💕 LUV 💕LUV💕
Music is very important in the time wherein we are living as it is one of the criteria by the way it is conducted that the nearness of God’s coming could be determined. Thank you for this episode. Been looking forward for this episode to be touched. Glory to God! Keep on God’s servants ❤️.
Thanks for your program. We have your videos translated in Russia and we are always looking forward to their new videos.
Thank you for this the Hymns are never boring to me thank God
My conversion hymn would have to be Saved By Grace. My grandmother taught me to play it on the piano when I was very young. I would play it over and over while singing two part harmony with her. She was a very strong alto while I was a soprano. The melody and chorus were so beautiful i would get goosebumps. That was over 40+ years ago and to this day I am ever moved by it. All glory to God Almighty for giving us the gift of music!❤️✝️🔥🙏🏻
Hello from northeast Arizona
Thank you fellows, (old guy from Arkansas)🇺🇸
Ellen White had a way of telling, explaining, the love and truth of God in such a motherly way, yet without detracting from the full essence of what she wrote.
Would be nice to have an episode about Martin's story.
Greetings from Austria 🇦🇹 😀
🙋 Martin's testimony is What's Up Prof? #43
Thank you Both for this Great Message that has brought back memories of when l went to Junior School in Rhodesia. We had Assembly every morning and l can remember crying Tears whilst singing Hymms that Truly Stirred my Heart - this as a Child in Junior School ♡
It is True that we Need to get back into The Simplicity of Worshipping our God Yahveh and Yahshua Christ Jesus in Song and Praise ♡
May you Both be Blessed ♡
I’m in Agreement with you my dear Brothers ❤🙏
Martin, "O Glorious Love", the way you sing it, just shows your love for God. It's overwhelming, and knowing that you came to know God shows through so clearly. Thankyou for using your voice to God's glory and for uplifting us humans.
Thankyou both for this amazing programme.❤❤
Thank u
Praise God for you two Blessed Saints...I just love this hymn.... It's very special for me! For over 40 years now... "IT HAS BEEN WELL WITH MY SOUL" To the Praise and Glory of Jesus Christ ie God.....He removed ALL my Pride and everything else Worldly as well, in a Vision that lasted 1 hour and three quarters .and Praise God, I have been His Witness ever since....And, how I wish I could tell you my story, because that has been my hearts desire for the whole 40 + years. It's is a joyful song, but it bring joyful TEARS to my eyes as I sing it, Amen.... Glory to God. Bless you guys..... TRUTH MATTERS!!! Mary a most humbled servant!

Thanks and love and blessings from Canada!
Thank you both!! ❤
What a friend we have in Jesus, all our griefs and sins to bear, what a privilege to carry, every thing to God in prayer; every one has a favourite or two, this is mine! Beautiful, reverent, joyful hymns lift the heart to sing with the angels! AMEN
Continued prayers for this beautiful, amazing and anointed ministry. 🙏🏻 May our gracious Heavenly Father continue to bless your lives and everything you’re going through in order to continue this ministry, in faithful service to our Savior and His remnant children!🙌🏻 And just wanted to mention that in the hymn “Can it Be”…I can understand why vs 4 has been left out (wasn’t clarified In the presentation) because it is not theologically correct -since Angels were not first“born”, they were created. Many blessings to all in this ministry 😊🙏🏻😇
now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen Hebrews 11:1 Happy Sabbath Day Remnant and all keep teaching the straight testimony
Hi again my loves❤
Songs are prayers
Secred hymns you mean.
I hope I will be able to say, when the death dew lies on my brow, " If ever I love thee, my Jesus tis now.
Hang in there saints.
precious Lord 💖 be with the clash of mind team, it's a gift the Lord God has given us in this stream of time; God bless his servants.
our churches would be good to listen to this study so important especially biblical ,thank you brothers may God bless you continualy
The best hymns, the best music, are based in Scripture the Word of God.

Talofa from Samoa, always enjoying listening to what's up prof. God bless you gentlemen
Timely study, thank you gents, we were only discussing this in our local bible study this week, I will be forwarding this to the group. God bless
🙏
Also listen to Christian Berdahl's Distraction Dilemma on this topic....
I didn’t know Walter and I had similar taste for secular music! 😮Moody Blues? 😂God bless and heal you brother and restore you to your important post educating people and winning souls. I love you both. ❤Don’t give up!😊
Another good point to bring is all recorded music today is tuned to 440hz when it should be 432hz. A person's voice can only be 440hz if it's manipulated.
My favourite song this week is....Calvary covers it all. I listen and sing to many Christian songs every day...beautiful, I don’t watch news etc. if I need to know anything my daughters etc. will let me know. I’m blessed. 💕❤️🤗💖💓🙏🙏💝
Praise be to God! Lord, give me a genuine deep and permanany conversion as that, and by Your grace I will serve You the rest of my life.
thanks a lot for this case
Interesting. David struck a chord that pleased the Lord. My father was an evangelical minister. I am a Sabbatarian. However he introduced me to unadulterated music. I could play piano music by composers who to my knowledge had no connection with freemasonry but did not enjoy playing Beethoven etc. I have a keen desire to get the message out that we need to prepare ourselves for a time when there may be no electricity, no so called worship leaders, just be true worshippers worshipping come what may.

I" Mattheus Jacobus Pretrius and is Afrikaans " would like you to come back to me. I was baptised in the AGS church as by the Word. God don't look to what a person looklike or what his clothes are. Although He is a God of order that's why we must obeying His Commandments. I strongly beleave in the 4th Commandment.
