Wow! There's a mini fridge AND a microwave in the rooms at Guiding Eyes? I couldn't help but picture it being more of a nice hotel room than a dorm room. Also, the shower doors slide? FANCY! Were there opportunities for you guys to get snacks or food if you wanted them? How did that work?
At Seeing Eye, we get our own rooms, too. There's a mini fridge but no microwave. The shower has curtains. There are a couple of techy gadgets, though including an Echo Dot and a talking book player.
For the first two Thursdays, volunteers come and pick up any items students in class might want--a shopping list gets passed around amongst the instructors during breakfast and they take down what the students want.
Each student is given a bill at the end of class.

Hi! Thank you! This is actually a dormitory where I will be staying on the guide dog training campus until I go home. I’m here for guide dog training. So my service dog and I are working together as a new team, for the rest of the training class I am in. It is studying. Being a first time guide dog user is all new to me. But I have grown up around this kind of stuff since I’ve been visually impaired since I was born. You’re right, this room does kind of look like an apartment.

@@mariaritafattori1980 No problem! Yes, I was born visually impaired due to my premature birth. I’m not completely blind, I have low vision in my left eye and blind in my right eye. So I am considered visually impaired or legally blind. Legally blind means that you are by law on the blindness/visual impairment spectrum.
