I love watching what I term the “discovery” reaction for Lovebites. The look of shock and awe is always fun. Lovebites are a “supergroup” of sorts, but the singer, Asami, was relatively unknown because she was largely a “chorus” singer (backing vocals) and her forte was (and is) jazz and RnB. She was chosen by the band’s prime mover, Miho, the bassist, after she listened to a demo tape. So whilst the others were well versed in this genre, she was brand new to it. And since 2017 the girls have simply got better, faster, more technical, yet at the same time more melodic. They are a musical phenomenon and so I thank you for bringing them to a fresh audience. They deserve it.

They really shine in their live performances and most of their songs are so intense but it seems they don’t sweat at all. Some people say that they are from another planet. In a little more than 4 years they have an impressive song catalog. Thanks for your honest opinion. Lovebites is a phenomenal band with an amazing pair of guitarists which is the highlight of the band. They do crazy solos in every one of their songs. Growling is something Lovebites doesn't do, and I am glad they don't because personally I love the beautiful sound of Asami's voice and clean vocals. When she hits those high notes she can really belt them out and sustain them. Lovebites won the 2018 Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band. They wear white to be in contrast to the other metal bands who only wear black. They write positive lyrics and want to save heavy metal from the doom and gloom that most bands play. If you enjoy great guitar work, fast and hard drums, and heavy riffs then you will enjoy Lovebites. If you only want growls then Lovebites isn't for you.
When Chopin's Nocturne came out, I thought you would be a fan of LOVEBITES, but it seems different. They loved 80's metal and created a whole new metal by fusing classical music that they have been accustomed to since childhood. There is no need for a growl there. All that was needed was a Mariah Carey-like range voice.

This video was also my first time hearing Lovebites, 3 years ago, after seeing them mentioned as one of the many bands to come out of Destrose. Well, to put it briefly, jaw hit floor and hasn't recovered yet! Lovebites has only gotten better and better, and I've only become more convinced that this is the best metal band around right now. As for the cookie-monster vocals that have been so dominant in metal for so many years now, I think it's about time to retire 'em, along with the rest of the negative baggage that goes along with that style. Enough already! Something new is required, and that something has Lovebites leading the charge.
What I think will blow your mind is that it sounds exactly the same live - I struggle to hear one missed note! True professionals and god knows how many hours of practice!

Nice reaction. Asami, a vocalist who was originally an R & B singer, had hardly heard any metal music and had no knowledge of it. When she was first invited to the band as a vocalist, she sounded out the band members that she should change her vocal style to a metallic one. But the band members said you don't have to change it because it's more unique. Therefore, some people may feel uncomfortable with her non-metallic singing style. I also felt something strange at first, but now I like it very much :) By the way, Asami used to take classical ballet lessons between the ages of 2 and 14, so when she sings, her unique movements become natural. And Chopin's nocturne was shown in the intro of your video. So I recommend Swan Song, a magnificent epic combining classical music and metal. They play a wide variety of styles not just power metal, but growling is something they don't do. They are more on the classic power/thrash/symphonic metal side of things, but you should check them out more for sure! They also have heavy classical music influences. I think the "supergroup" you're thinking of is Nemophila, which was originally a side project made up of 5 members from five different current and former bands, including some very well known and well respected players with very robust resumes. The term "supergroup" is used to describe them quite often, and they're the first Japanese band I can think of off the top of my head who the term's been widely applied to. They kind of went viral, so hopefully the "side" thing is now a more permanent thing. Lovebites were formed by two former members of Destrose (Miho and Haruna, bass and drums respectively), who were one of the earliest and best known all-female metal bands in the last 15 years (the current "boom"). Half the female metal musicians in Japan did a tour of duty in Destrose at some point. The other three members were in lesser known bands, in fact Asami (vocals) isn't from a band at all, she was mostly an r&b/gospel type vocalist who sent in a demo and got picked. No heavy metal background, just a great singer. The guitarists Midori and Miyako were hand picked by Miho for their incredible chops, and while they weren't particularly well known before Lovebites, they are now, and many people consider them the best guitarists in the entire scene along with Saki from Mary's Blood, who's pretty widely recognized as a shred goddess extraordinaire. Like, if you look up Japanese shred goddess in the dictionary, there's a picture of Saki. Well, not really, but there would be if that's how dictionaries worked. She also happens to be one of the players in Nemophila, but Mary's Blood is her main gig (which is why Nemophila's considered a supergroup, like Temple of the Dog or bands like that). Anyway, I'm subscribing because I love watching people fall down the Japanese metal (or Japanese music in general) rabbit hole and I like your style.

Lovebites is my #1, they have many other kick ass tunes but your right, no harsh vocals. For the more growly type I suggest you check out Nemophila "Dissension". All girl, Japanese, that I believe you will really enjoy.
Supergroup? No, that's just Midori and Miyako doing LOVEBITES things. LOVEBITES are an extremely polished, totally professional power metal band with roots back to the original of this era, Destrose. Destrose were never successful but they spawned about 10 bands that were more successful than themselves, LOVEBITES included. Nemophila are a Supergroup. Nemophila are more raw, more diverse and more modern. Nemophila will melt your face off and then give you a playful hug and a wink. The real OG successful group in this era are Aldious with a commercially successful album in 2010. They are power metal, mostly, but their latest MV was kind of metalcore(ish) - tbh though, they can do what they like, they have proved beyond doubt they own the genre - and they do it live 20 times a year or more.

Nice reaction. Asami, a vocalist who was originally an R & B singer, had hardly heard any metal music and had no knowledge of it. When she was first invited to the band as a vocalist, she sounded out the band members that she should change her vocal style to a metallic one. But the band members said you don't have to change it because it's more unique. Therefore, some people may feel uncomfortable with her non-metallic singing style. I also felt something strange at first, but now I like it very much :) By the way, Asami used to take classical ballet lessons between the ages of 2 and 14, so when she sings, her unique movements become natural.
And Chopin's nocturne was shown in the intro of your video. So I recommend Swan Song, a magnificent epic combining classical music and metal. It's one of their masterpieces.🤘

We are writing to announce that as of this day of August 17, 2021, Miho will be leaving LOVEBITES. As a result, for the time being, the band will be taking a hiatus from all activities as LOVEBITES.

To all my loving and supportive fans,
It was really hard to make this decision, but I have to announce my departure from LOVEBITES as of August 17, 2021. Given the current state of the world, it has made it difficult for me to give my goodbyes in person, so I really apologize for those who are shocked by this sudden announcement.
Over the past couple of years, I have been self-reflecting and reconsidering how I can be myself as a musician. When I look back, this period gave me an opportunity to broaden my perspective in both my professional and personal life.
LOVEBITES has been my life since 2016, and it always holds my best memories, especially performing at WACKEN OPEN AIR made one of my dreams come true even though it's still unreal to me.
I couldn't have done any of these without my bandmates, crew, staff and the undying love and support from fans all across the globe. My words cannot describe how much I want to thank you all for everything.
I'm parting ways with the band. However, my spirit for Heavy Metal never dies. Also, LOVEBITES will keep moving forward, so I really hope you all keep giving the same love for their future.
Thank you so much again for all your love and support.

Firstly thank you all for always supporting LOVEBITES.
Today we have to let you know that our bassist, Miho, is leaving LOVEBITES. We’re so sorry to be bringing such sad news to our fans and everyone who has supported us so far.
After Miho told us she was thinking of leaving, the band and our staff have had countless meetings to find a way for her to stay. But in the end, we decided to respect Miho’s wish.
When we think of and feel for our fans, we struggle to find the right words to say.
This is also a really tough one but we need to let you know that we will be suspending our activities as LOVEBITES for a while. However, we are definitely coming back. We kindly ask for your patience until then.

They play a wide variety of styles not just power metal, but growling is something they don't do.
They are more on the classic power/thrash/symphonic metal side of things, but you should check them out more for sure! They also have heavy classical music influences.
Maybe try one of their Live performances, their even better Live! Thunder Vengeance, Break the Wall or Holy War, all Live 2020!

I think the "supergroup" you're thinking of is Nemophila, which was originally a side project made up of 5 members from five different current and former bands, including some very well known and well respected players with very robust resumes. The term "supergroup" is used to describe them quite often, and they're the first Japanese band I can think of off the top of my head who the term's been widely applied to. They kind of went viral, so hopefully the "side" thing is now a more permanent thing. Lovebites were formed by two former members of Destrose (Miho and Haruna, bass and drums respectively), who were one of the earliest and best known all-female metal bands in the last 15 years (the current "boom"). Half the female metal musicians in Japan did a tour of duty in Destrose at some point. The other three members were in lesser known bands, in fact Asami (vocals) isn't from a band at all, she was mostly an r&b/gospel type vocalist who sent in a demo and got picked. No heavy metal background, just a great singer. The guitarists Midori and Miyako were hand picked by Miho for their incredible chops, and while they weren't particularly well known before Lovebites, they are now, and many people consider them the best guitarists in the entire scene along with Saki from Mary's Blood, who's pretty widely recognized as a shred goddess extraordinaire. Like, if you look up Japanese shred goddess in the dictionary, there's a picture of Saki. Well, not really, but there would be if that's how dictionaries worked. She also happens to be one of the players in Nemophila, but Mary's Blood is her main gig (which is why Nemophila's considered a supergroup, like Temple of the Dog or bands like that). Anyway, I'm subscribing because I love watching people fall down the Japanese metal (or Japanese music in general) rabbit hole and I like your style.

You've just watched and listened to the best metal band in the world, though you love glowing, Lovebites may not be yours. They are just opposite of "conventional and conservative same old dark and negative metal". They never growl, never ware black, no tattoos, no piercings, no skulls, no bloody guitars, but songs are about unity and love and positive, ware white and gold, sound is clear and clean. They never do crazy circus on the stage but play real and flawless music.

Lovebites is my #1, they have many other kick ass tunes but your right, no harsh vocals. For the more growly type I suggest you check out Nemophila "Dissension". All girl, Japanese, that I believe you will really enjoy.

Supergroup? No, that's just Midori and Miyako doing LOVEBITES things. LOVEBITES are an extremely polished, totally professional power metal band with roots back to the original of this era, Destrose. Destrose were never successful but they spawned about 10 bands that were more successful than themselves, LOVEBITES included.
Nemophila are a Supergroup. Nemophila are more raw, more diverse and more modern. Nemophila will melt your face off and then give you a playful hug and a wink.
The real OG successful group in this era are Aldious with a commercially successful album in 2010. They are power metal, mostly, but their latest MV was kind of metalcore(ish) - tbh though, they can do what they like, they have proved beyond doubt they own the genre - and they do it live 20 times a year or more.
