LYRICS
Summer's gone and love has withered
I believe in nothing yet nothing is what it seems
All is gone and promises slithered
You have me nothing yet nothing is what it seems
Summer is gone
Your eyes gave away all your lies in the end
The dawning of a seething design
Kept a secret from the light
And felt the weight on my shoulders increase
A bleeding heart led my desperation
Like a bird on a wire
A broken promise of dedication
Never ever again
The Blackmore Influence is all over this track! Best riff and solo Ritchie never wrote!
Spot on there mate. 👍
Yeah definitely, especially rainbow era
this is so Rainbow! LongLiveRock&Roll!
The Dude this was a tribute to Dio so yep!
Didn't care for this song at the time. Now I love it. Opeth is the best
Same here. I kind of thought of it as a joke at the time. Now it's my go to when I need a quick dose of Heritage. Such a jam.
@@C20H25N3Ofya "a quick dose of heritage" is exactly my thoughts about this song!
I’m not too familiar with this band (yet), but I find it incredible how accepting most people seem to be about their style change.
Haha I just dont like how mike abandoned completely gutural vocal cause his were amazing, but hey, its still amazing music
This is probably the most talented band you’ll ever hear in terms of how diverse they are. They can literally go from black metal, to death metal, to prog rock, to jazz, to classical. It is insane zhow talented they are. Most bands play the same shit over and over but these guys change and play what they feel. Mikael has one of the best vocals in the world, guy has a beautiful clean voice and has amazing death growls. Just a brilliant band.
What a voice Mikael had filling in for Dio in Rainbow, he was just 5 years old!
Hey bro still listening xD
This is the perfect song for when your driving in a hurry somewhere, I love it!
The outro to this song is so beautiful... Funny enough it was this album that made me an Opeth fan - then I slowly worked my way backwards.
I one day want to transition as smoothly as this band does in their songs.
Lol you will never be a real woman
Proud bro hope ur transition goes well
Can't stop practicing it on bass! It's so powerful and upbeat!!
Seems to me like tribute to Rainbow - Light in the Black.
Or a tribute to Rainbow, in general. If I'm not mistaken, they actually said in an interview that it was a tribute to Ronnie James Dio.
Definitely inspired by it
Dude I love the style change, I wish I knew sooner I've always liked the psychedelic arts
1:44
Great song. Awesome outro also.
Ah... I love this album..
This album feels like if Damnation was written by a completely different artist and then they decided to go heavier on their second album.
Blackmoore
This song is pretty damn metal, probably the best I've heard post-heritage.
This song is literally on Heritage, not in some later album.
@@bakarenibsheut12 lmao
This song has a bit of a Megadeth vibe kinda.
This was a tribute to Dio, but i can definitely see what you mean. Has that Take no Prisoners vibe.
@Some Kind of Master the first thought that popped up in my head after listening to that intro
Or Fireball by Deep Purple.
God, how i LOOOOOVE this song!
Fernanda Aline Souza
Agreed, and the rest of the album is great as well!!
My band does a respectable cover of this song BTW... :)
Nice hard rock riff, reminds me a bit of Black Sabbath and even a bit like Hocus Pocus by Focus. Definitely hard rock 70's inspired! Vocals are very melodic. Typical Opeth to change it up so the ending is so soft and acoustic.
this song clearly took some inspiration from Rainbow's Kill the King (the live version). Kinda make sense since this was a tribute for RJD
@@ilhamakbar5482 In fact, there are various parts of this song that seem very much like references to all kinds of Dio-era Rainbow songs like Kill the King, Gates of Babylon, A Light in the Black and a few others.
best song of this new Opeth
Magical chorus!
This my favourite Rainbow song
Blackmore
There's something about this album and 2003's Damnation that sounds/sounded really old
02:12-02:30
That solo makes me think of Jimi Hendrix
+Dylan Suriyaarachchi Or Ritchie Blackmore maybe. I don't know but it definitely sounds a bit like something from the past.
Definitely sounds like Blackmore to me 👍🏼
Sounds so much Blackmore I almost thought he did a guest appearance first time I heard it.
@@tattooedjedi95 Indeed, very much like The Blackmore. Can't hear much Hendrix though.
It takes after Firebal by Deep Purple
+croci17
Rainbow's "Kill the King" more like it... ;)
Ritchie Blackmore is Mikael's biggest influence.
‘You went from Carola to Dio!’ ~ Nardwuar
Getting strong Focus vibes from that intro
A good jam. I approve.
This aged well
Motorhead meets progressive scene XD
We have a song similar to this one actually. It will be on our debut album ''The Serpent Path'' coming this fall but we have a live video of it on our channel. Look for a clip with ''The Device'' and you'll find it. :)
Kill the King!
Sounds like Smak 🥺🥺🥺🥺
Outro reminds me of To Live is To die by Metallica
well mikael said he loves that song and he's influenced by it, so i'm not surprised if that song inspired the outro of 'slither' haha
+AndJustice4All "Slither" is also the title of a Metallica song (it's one of my least favorites however)
perfect old men's rock song
Channelled their inner Mastodon.
no
just seen a gig clip where he says its dedicated to Dio and boom! How the fuck didn't i hear that before lol
Beginning kinda reminds me of mastodon
My favorite song from heritage, reminds me of led zeppelin
VERY MOTORHEAD
nice playlist, but (it's my opinion) misses The Apostle In Triumph
inmigrant song...
I hear it in bass
Do I dare say this shit transcends everything by LZ or Metal Lica?
Tell them !! Telllll themmm !!
I sure would like to tell them myself. Schedule a concert anywhere in the U.S. southwest or Colorado and I'm there!! I am also more than ready for a new studio release.@@reducetheatoms
Opening riff is totally a ripoff from Bastille Day by Rush.......but it's all good....Opeth are known to be Rush fans!
this song is a tribute to RJD, and the intro to me also sounds more like by the live version of Kill the King by Rainbow
I thought it was Velvet Revolver cover
