These clips are part of what sets you apart from other musicians. You can tell that you truly adore your fans as you should because you have some of the best fans out there! Thanks for sharing and can't wait for the new album...
Wow! I can't wait this new album! the song of 0:45 it's very cool and "Heartbreak Warfare" it's really beauty, thank's John for all your music, God Bless you. Greetings from Spain.
thats a dream come true to see your creative process working, instead of fantasizing about the mystery of it all. its a big machine, your creative process....and I like to see its parts...and see how I can match my parts up to it....I can tell its going to be a big STEP UP, and step TO THE SIDE from the last thing. Different and better is the way my man, you perpetually have my attention sir. :)
Thanks John. You`re so sweet to the fans, letting us in to the Battle Studies progress as much as you do! :) This sounds great, and there is no other album coming out in 2009 that I`m more excited for than this one.
Trust me that sound at 0:45 reminded me of Jimi Hendrix!... and few songs of Stevie Ray Vaughn it good The tunes John has revealed till now(of the new album)... are really great,,, this one, half of my heart, that one with the sunset, heartbreak warfare! I think this is gonna be worth a big thing!
You're by far the most inviting celebrity out there. This is great stuff, John. Recording at home just like small bands except with big boy toys to record with. That paul threw me for a loop, but I guess everyone experiments with different tones from other guitar. Keep playin' the blues man. That's one hell of a trio you guys are in.
Love the jam at :45. Love Steve's comments on the lamp though: "Keeps us honest... No we got work. We're working." Well keep on doing work Steve & John! Can't wait to see Battle Studies in full action. I'm ready. (Also loved the disclaimer thing. "Battle Studies" back to the regular Room for Squares/Heavier Things font)
somebody commented on here: "I am so in the mood for a rock record." and I absolutely second that! i like this... getting in the making of an album, while it's still in production, whitout taking the surprise out of the final product. those short videos are a good idea!
This is good, real good. Books made into Films can sometimes not live up to the hype you create in your mind by reading the printed text.. I read the print on your twitter before coming here, and the hype has indeed exceeded itself.. So, Awesome =)
That's definitely every musicians DREAM! haha Nice man =) New album is gonna come out swinging, I sure. Looking forward to more videos of the studio! Thanks for posting!
John, I don't know if you know it, but it is just fantastic that a great artist such as yourself, still cares enough about his fans to post RUclips videos of what he is currently working on. Much respect.
Great video. I'm such a huge fan of yours, but at the same time I feel like I don't know anything about your work. I have a lot to learn. Thanks for posting these videos. I really appreciate it. Ethan R.
The groove at 0:45 is super slick. A fatter, more "rich" tone (thank God for Les Paul) than what Mayer has had in the past. I hope the hook is as good as the riff...but now I'm jonesin' to hear more of it.
the4 amazing thing about mayer is, theres heaps of guitarists out there that are much better then him technically like on youtube and stuff, but his guitar playing is so lyrical and his songwriting is what pushes him from the head space of being "just another blues player" he is amazing!!
Let's be honest here - when you open the video with "the house" and then flash that gorgeous mansion on screen, I think we all know that you're not fooling anyone...that's an epic abode, sir.
that is such a sick song. I cant believe it didnt exist till now! I had to replay the part in the beginning where he was blabbing (jk) to hear it. i can not wait to full on hear it. master this shit and let me have it!!!
some day I'm going to have talent and I too will be a world class musician able to build my own personal Musicians disneyland right in my own damn house.........course I also have a thing for tree forts, so I might put it all in a big ass oak tree, and then maybe tool the tree in such a way it becomes a musical instrument in and of itself as well.....I'm off to get some talent. Can't wait for this album!
Good god. And to think I can't even record electric guitar tracks properly because consumer sound cards can't handle that hot a signal across that many frequency ranges. John man, that's an EPIC studio. It takes the meaning of home recording studio and makes it just a liiiitle different, don't you think? :)
I love your music! Your vibe is always heartfelt to me...Do you ever think about adding strange sounds like the shofar horn, harp, Middle Eastern sounds, .etc.,...to a song every once in awhile....those are always spooky in an enlightening sort of way. ~Raven
they are saying that because from what we can hear he changed his tone a little. which is alright people change and music changes. He's john mayer for crying out loud whatever he's doing is going to be monumental!! :D
@jaimico777 I'm 99.99% its a song he was making for Battle Studies called "Rock Song". He mentioned it once via twitter. Too bad he hasn't released it. This, my friend, is all we have from that song.
nice sound around the 50 seconds... really kind of a not-so-now-john-mayer but it seemed like you caught other thing... cant explain! (you figured that out!)
As not only a big JM fan but as someone who's mildly obsessed w/ the studio world, this video made my eagerness for the new album multiply by like 30. Pretty much all I can think to say now is PUT OUT THE FREAKIN' RECORD, ALREADY!!! ... *achem* Sorry, um... please? :D
These clips are part of what sets you apart from other musicians. You can tell that you truly adore your fans as you should because you have some of the best fans out there! Thanks for sharing and can't wait for the new album...
i want your lifestyle man, you're living the dream
could turn out to be one of my favorite documentary's of all time
If John isn’t a musician, I believe he’ll be a great salesman
yes yes yes yes. yes. LOVE how Steve still rocks on just a simple snare, cymbal and bass. YES.
It is awesome that you are showing what is going on behind the scenes. I look forward to watching it come to life and eagerly await the final product.
Wow! I can't wait this new album! the song of 0:45 it's very cool and "Heartbreak Warfare" it's really beauty, thank's John for all your music, God Bless you.

Awesome video! Thanks for letting us in to see you working your magic! Can't wait to hear it when it is finished!
Thanks John. You`re so sweet to the fans, letting us in to the Battle Studies progress as much as you do! :) This sounds great, and there is no other album coming out in 2009 that I`m more excited for than this one.

honest workers create admired grooves

Badass hook, this is the kind of style I'd love to see Mayer implementing into his new material...

somebody commented on here: "I am so in the mood for a rock record."

I had to leave my country to watch this video. Completely worth it.
Really looking forward to the next album! Wish I had a studio like that ha!..
Rae x
nice studio and nice groove with that riff
John, I don't know if you know it, but it is just fantastic that a great artist such as yourself, still cares enough about his fans to post RUclips videos of what he is currently working on. Much respect.

Oh man, the new album is gonna be great.
it's all about the home recording studios... word ;)
Its so that the whole album is a new experience, recorded in a completely new way and the whole album can be as organic as possible
Wow, amazing studio :D
The groove at 0:44 is so sick

Technically maybe, but the man has got one of the most lovely guitartones on this planet
Let's be honest here - when you open the video with "the house" and then flash that gorgeous mansion on screen, I think we all know that you're not fooling anyone...that's an epic abode, sir.
Cool John 10X FOR sharing
I love studio footage.
that is such a sick song. I cant believe it didnt exist till now! I had to replay the part in the beginning where he was blabbing (jk) to hear it. i can not wait to full on hear it. master this shit and let me have it!!!
I can't decide if I love knowing all of this or hate it because I'm so anxious to hear the finished product, either way thanx
man....this inspires me 2 work harder on my album coming up
exactly. it takes away the element of surprise of the finished product. art needs time to breathe and needs not to be broken down!!!
The Distance!! XD
aaahhh, that seriously made me laugh out loud.
The excellent and interesting video !
5*****
Thanks for share chaz23j !
Oh yeah...
