Always appreciate seeing your dad's take on things. I'm sure he and I are very different in many ways, culture and background, but you can tell that he's a good man and a good father.

I love you and your dad's relationship. Reminds me of my father. He was Romanian but born in Greece and raised in France( I was born in the US) so I see alot of him in your dad. Sadly he passed away in 2011 so it's cool to see what could have been us watching movies together in you guys. Thanks for the always awesome reactions.

The little room where they took Legasov after the trial is a KGB interrogation room. You may have noticed it is tiled from top to bottom. That's not a design choice, the tiles have a purpose - to easily hose down all the blood after a prisoner's interrogation is over. Terrifying. The KGB was (is) absolutely ruthless.

This is the true horror of a government that is too concerned with it's own image, it's own prestige, and it's own system, over it's own citizens.

I love what your Dad said at the end, this series makes you reflect deeply about so many fundamental things like truth, sacrifice, what matters the most in life... Yeah, Legasov was a hero in life AND in death 🙌

Welcome to the final episode...well done getting through this show...it is a tough one. I really like the way the makers of the show added the notes at the end to cover some of the things they got wrong, simplified, or made more dramatic...I just wish they had done more of that, or been more honest. For example, they say that "it has been reported" that everyone on the "Bridge of Death" died...but those reports are very much NOT true....so technically, they are being truthful, but not quite. Other things they do not admit to, I can understand...such as the fact that Legasov was not even at the trial of Dyatlov and company...but it is kind of necessary to turn him into a kind of hero figure and have him do much more than he really did so that the story can be simplified enough for most folks to keep track of.

The trial they were put on they were really given no defense, the state needed a scapegoat to blame. And while they do carry a lot of blame, the state's decision to even build these reactors when they were outdated even by Soviet standards was criminal
Best explanation of this series I've heard is it kills you, then the epilogue kicks the body

The message about lies being incurred as a debt to truth remains important in politics. 5 years after this event Ukraine was decolonised but now 30 years after that. There are russian soliders once again marching around still-dangerously radioactive Pripyat once again there because of a lie and once again the surrouding people suffer.

This is not actually a completely accurate depiction of the real events. But I do think it can lay claim to an important message about the value of truth. It IS always there, no matter how people with selfish agendas try to convince us to ignore it.

I think you guys would love "Thirteen Lives" about the rescue of the soccer team from Thailand that was trapped in the cave there by flooding. It gets into how the diving team pulled off the rescue, but also shows how many people contributed to the effort and how much work was done by so many people.
Loved your reaction here to Chernobyl!

About the co-called "Bridge of death"
The bridge exists, but nobody stood on that bridge the night of disaster. People didn't even go outside
