NCT has currently 23 members and only 10 are koreans and 13 are the foreigners. Members came from different cities/countries (Chicago, China, Japan, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Taiwan/Germany & someone who is born in Canada) so they speak 9 different languages, they have 9 diff passports, 4 dorms, and 5 cars (to transport them when they are doing promotions) 😂 there are times when they can't communicate well because not all foreigners in this group speaks fluent korean, so they speak like 2-3 diff languages in 1 sentence (korean-english-cantonese/mandarin or korean-japanese).

the canadian & american born members are also korean in ethnicity & good in the language (mark & johnny) however some terms/abbreviations/phrases or slang or dialects are very local based and less about the language aspect
so it can even be confusing for people born in korea if they lived far from a particular region to understand their way of speaking so you can imagine if someone was born in entirely different country ..that even though both mark & johnny are really good since the beginning ~some random things throws them off however now they have been in seoul/korea a long time & been in school there too so they still caught up in most but it is just a few here & there is still confusing to them

Gentlemen - I will try to answer all your questions:
    - The game involves choosing a random word(s) and they have to try moving each syllable as they repeat the words fast. Using an example from the video, they chose one of the member’s name (Yuta Nakamoto) so it goes: NA-kamotoyutana KA-motoyutanaka MO-toyutanakamo TO-yutanakamoto YU-tanakamotoyu TA.
    - Yes NCT (Neo Culture Technology) is the one and only group existing in the whole music industry with structure of having infinite number of members spread over infinite number of sub-units. This is in line with their mission: to promote kpop in general, and also their music, from Seoul to the whole world. Therefore the members also came from all over the globe in addition to South Korea: Japan, Canada, Macau, Germany, Thailand, Hong Kong, USA...and many more.
    - As of the time I’m typing this: yes there are 23 (will increase soon) members total spread over 4 (will increase soon) sub-units. In addition to this, they get together every 1-2 years for their big performance/album release project. The first started three years ago with the release of BLACK ON BLACK by “NCT 2018”. A few months ago “NCT 2020” released their RESONANCE album with 6 tracks being made into videos, if you haven’t checked them out already.
    - They did actually have their own mini olympics when NCT 2020 project was launched. Each sub-unit has their own series of variety show called NCT LIFE (for 127 sub-unit and Dream sub-unit) & WayVision (for WayV sub-unit, just started their season 2). And for NCT 2020, they launched their 8-episodes of “NCT WORLD 2.0” with all the boys participated. And you are correct, there were a lot of chaos happened. If you have time and are interested, you may want to react to it for your subscribers and viewers...
    - I’m glad you enjoyed this video and also found it informative although one may not understand some “inside joke” clips if they don’t watch many of their variety videos. If you want to check out their “American School 101” episodes #1-3, they shot a role play of learning english in the classroom before going on their year-long world tour and each episode is only about 3-4 minutes average. It’s also funny and easy to follow.
Hope this provides a little help - thanks so much for your reaction video and I look forward to more NCT contents on your channel.

The game is like you have to put emphasis on the syllable and repeat it. it's hard to explain so here's an example. The word Banana. there are 3 syllables ba, na, na (the capital letters mean u say it louder/stronger and lowercase means u say it regularly). so for the word banana, you would say; BA na na --> ba NA na --> ba na NA. Another example could be reaction so you would say RE act ion --> re ACT ion --> re act ION. In the video they did the same thing but with Korean words and phrases that were long to make it harder. I hope this kinda makes sense lol

5:23 the game they're playing is like a pitch/enunciation game. They get a sentence and each time they say it, they have to put emphasis on the next word so say the sentence is "k-pop is cool" each time you say it, the next word is emphasized (shown in bold) so:
    *k* pop is cool
    k *pop* is cool
    k pop *is* cool
    k pop is *cool*
It's game they played to pass time in a car ride and it was good practice for the foreign members because you not only had to get the pitch correct, but also pronounce the words correctly in Korean.

Johnny - born and raised in Chicago to korean parents. His nationality is American but Idk if it's Korean-American now because of how long he stayed in Korea.
Mark - he's born in Torronto to korean parents and moved later to Korea. He's ethnicity is Korean but he's nationality is Canadian.
Yuta - he's japanese from Osaka and he went to Korea at the age of 17 to become a trainee. He's the first japanese member of NCT.
    NCT DREAM
Chenle - chinese from Shanghai. He's a child star in China before debuting in NCT.
Renjun - chinese, the village he grew up is the border between Korea and China so he speaks two languages (mandarin & korean).
    WAYV
Kun, Winwin & Xiaojun - the only 3 members of WayV who are chinese that is from mainland china.
Ten - thai, he's ethnicity is Chinese but his nationality is Thai (he speaks 5 languages).
Lucas - born to thai mom & chinese dad but born in Hong Kong. An athlete before debut.
Hendery - chinese who is from Macau.
Yangyang - taiwanese, but idk where he was born in Taiwan or in Germany but nevertheless he spent his time going to school in Düsseldorf, Germany for 6 yrs but his parents are Taiwanese. His nationality is Taiwanese-German.
There are two new members added in NCT in 2020 and 1 of them is Japanese, making him the 2nd japanese member after Yuta.

for the word game they were playing where one of the guys surprised himself; it's basically a game where you repeat a word or a name but put stress on each syllable everytime you say it.

  • @lovelybbytan7113
    @lovelybbytan7113 3 года назад

im pretty sure the game they were playing around 5:15 ish was them trying to stress different syllables of a word. like if the word has four syllables you would say it four times emphasizing the first, second, third and fourth syllable in that order, but i could be wrong

The game that they were playing is called the perfect pitch game. They have a word (usually has 4+ syllables) that they have to say and change the pitch for each syllable when they say it. For example (the all caps letters indicate the pitch change) DICtionary dicTIONary dictionAry dictionaRY. It's easier to play it using Korean words though.
6:18 They made a pun for the word Amazon because there is no z sound in Korean. Instead the z sound is more pronounced like the j sound. Amazon sounds like Amajohn (the guy sitting next to the guy with the sliver hair is named Johnny), that's why Ten said (John's banana.)

The reason why some of them are confused is that there were many auditions in different parts of the world so wherever they came from they had to learn korean without knowing any of it, but mark and Johnny were already korean it’s just they were born in another country. Also a lot of the clips in this video is from years ago when some foreign members newly joined and were still studying korean but as of now almost all of them are fluent

  • @mayflower1108
    @mayflower1108 3 года назад

For the Korean word games, they choose a word and repeat it but each time they repeat the word they stress a different syllable. We can't do it the same way in English but imagine it like this,
    "love: L - o - v - e, l - O - v - e, l - o -V - e, l - o - v - E" - except they aren't spelling the word out they are just stressing (or emphasizing. Like they just say that syllable louder than the other ones) a different syllable each time they say it until they do every syllable.
Korean is written in blocks for each of their syllables so the word 사랑 (love) has the 'letters' ㅅ ㅏ ㄹ ㅇ in it but it is written in two blocks -> '사' '랑' .. So if they used this word it would be like, *사* 랑 , 사 *랑* - pronounced: *sa* rang, sa *rang* -
5:00 That's why when they are doing those word games (sometimes) you can see Korean on the screen and as they play they highlight which syllable is being emphasized.
    explained

The Korean word game they were playing, I don't know what it's called but basically you have a word usually with repeating syllables and you say it the number of times for the number of syllables there are but stressing a different syllable each time. For example one of the members name was used in the game. Nakamoto Yuta (he's japanese) so you would say it 6 times each time stressing the next syllable. Like this:
    NAkamoto yuta
    naKAmoto yuta
    nakaMOto yuta
    nakamoTO yuta
    nakamoto YUta
    nakamoto yuTA
The point of the game is to help with pronunciation and the different way of stressing syllables The games pretty hard an it's fun to try like you can follow the example I wrote out. I hope this makes sense and helps you a bit

NCTs whole concept when they debuted was "global". And they wanted a more global audience and have many artists who are from different places. Most people laughed and thought it was a reach, but now they've seen how successful NCT is getting, and many big companies (BigHit) are planning to debut new groups with the same concept (basically ripping nct off). ALSO another reason to why they have so many members and subunits is because in korea, you have to do military work when you reach a certain age. Them having so many artists and sub units, they wouldn't have to go on a hiatus when one of the members has to go into the military or anything and they can just work in their other subunits.

People from all over the world go to Korea to try and become Kpop stars. Often they just love music or dance and don’t speak Korean before they move. They learn it after moving, but everyone learns at different speeds and have different strengths.

If you could, I recommend watching the further episodes. The second episode of this series is funnier. The series of nct foreign members vs the korean language is worth to watch👍 I never really recommend the first episode bc it was just the beginning of the series and the person improved in further edits and episodes. As you might've noticed, this might've been a lil dry, but it still was great, thank you for reacting. You won't regret to keep watching! (or at least just the part 2)😊 also next: nct vs. the english language pls or nct speaking english but there's only one braincell
ps: also just for information: the members have improved a lot since then (since the video was made)

05:16 actually u were quite right with ur guess about the korean word game lmao it's basically a tongue twister kinda game. they get one word and then they have to emphasize one syllable at a time and since they're mostly using words that are hard to pronounce (especially for foreigners) it's even harder.
(I'll use onomatopoeia as an example and I'll capitalize the syllable that has to be emphasized in the right order)
    1. ONomatopoeia
    2. onOmatopoeia
    3. onoMATopoeia
    4. onomatOpoeia
    5. onomatoPOEia
    6. onomatopoeIA
also not seeing the word makes it a looot more difficult lmao
i hope this explanation made kinda sense 😆 love ur videos and have a great day 🙏🏽

Hi there. Just an info. NCT stands for "Neo Culture Technology". Which means the members are diverse because thats the concept of the Group. Each year a member will be added to the group and its either Korean, Chinese, Japanese so the latest member in this year is Sungchan which is Korean(He and jungwoo(Also Korean) had trained together but Jungwoo debuted first as Nct-U member but then Sm decided to put him in Nct127 And Lucas To Nct Wayv because his from hongkong and wayv is aN NCt Unit for chinese Or Thai members) and next one is Shotaro which is Japanese and it makes him the 2Nd japanese member apart from Yuta which is currently in Nct 127.And Nct is has 21 Members now. Hope that helps.

The Korean word game is a syllables game. For example if the word is "Comfortable", then the player need to stress it in different syllables. So COMfortable, comFORtable, comforTAble, comfortaBLE. Imagine if you are not a native speaker in the language so it will be very hard. Plus it is like a tongue twister saying it again and again. And imagine if there are many syllables like one of the given words in the video like Nakamoto Yuta (which is one of their members and is Japanese)

  • @noyayay
    @noyayay 3 года назад

don’t know if anyone explained the game but i’ll try my best to explain. From what i got from when they play, when they’re given a word, they have to repeat that word but emphasize every syllable after they repeat it until they finished the last syllable.
    like for example: acrobatics
    1st time: A-crobatics
    2nd time: a-CRO-batics
    3rd time: acro-BA-tics
    4th time: acroba-TICS

  • @user-pm2zv9fs5r
    @user-pm2zv9fs5r 3 года назад

so that game was about intonation. idk how to explain it in english because nobody really talks about it in english but its the way a sentence is structured/emphasized. so basically it's like an accent mark.
because many asian languages have this "compound" way of language, meaning that one character/word/sound are in so many words (since u can combine to make even more words) you can make a LOT more puns than compared to english. thats why the members are seen having a hard time understanding because they have heard the same sounds in like 2000 other words.
this is also why these languages might be hard to learn, because there are a lot of consonants and diphthongs that actually matter whereas in english, it would not be considered wrong nor would it alter its meaning. in english, it would just be an accent(?) and u could kinda guess what someone is saying but in korean it would straight up be a different word.
