Seagull Artist Series CW Studio Element Guitar Review and Demo

- This review of the Seagull Artist Series CW Studio Element features direct recording from the LR Baggs electronics and microphone pickups of the guitar's sound. This is an unpaid review of the Seagull Artist series, the flagship guitar of the Seagull line. MSRP $1499.99. I sample the sound, review the solid rosewood back and sides, and show off the spruce top and mahogany fret board. Comment any questions below!
Why I chose Seagull Guitars by Danny Hauger
The arrival of my new Seagull Artist series (paid for by me) is changing my recording ability and sound dynamics in my studio. I am happy to announce that I will be featuring this Seagull Artist Studio C. The video review is coming soon, and will be posted on my RUclips Channel.
Element Guitar (website - bit.ly/2n8vfKM) as my premiere acoustic for recording in studio. Is searched the world (-wide web) for a company that matched my philosophy and sound balance, and there are a lot of companies that make a lot of claims. While I was researching, reading, watching videos, and considering my next move, I happened to be strumming my Seagull Coastline S6 Folk, I looked at the tapered headstock, and an idea flew right over my head and onto the logo - Seagull. 3 reasons and goals drove my decision: sound, sustainability, and North American-made)www.seagullguitars.com/uploads...
SOUND: My already owned, Seagull S6 Coastline Folk Guitar (review video - bit.ly/2DwYEFE), sings with a Cedar top in a restrained but resonant harmony. I was amazed how my songs, both singer-songwriter, and instrumental, took on a life of their own with a fast neck and deep quality of tone. It compromised no quality to be affordable and that reflected my own common-sense budget while seeking superior sound.
When seeking a louder, studio-worthy instrument for projection and volume of strumming, I reached for Seagull’s top-shelf, Artist Series. This flagship model stuns visually and aurally with a mahogany neck, solid rosewood back, and a solid spruce top with adirondack spruce bracing. What does this mean? The guitar sings! It’s bright but balanced and ready for stage or studio performances. Go play one! You’ll agree, I’m sure, within 30-seconds, that this is an elite instrument in terms of sound. Plus the cutaway lets you get anywhere you want on the fretboard, comfortably.
Sustainability: Seagull cares about the overall environmental approach to guitar making. They are building and leading the way with innovations to tread lightly and protect natural resources and practices for their musical road ahead. They avoid exotic international woods and make smart choices with their sourcing.
North-American made: I love a global economy, but at the same time trust my guitar makers here in North America. I had owned Martin and Taylor in the past, and it was my Seagull in my studio that chriped for a partner from Seagull in Canada. I loved the story of a small village with half of the population being luthier. I was charmed by their website and enticed by their Canadian lumber and production facilities. Seagull was a company that instantly filled my head with ideas and potential. A Canadian company fit with my past three years of the Danny Hauger Travel Podcast - Vancouver (bit.ly/2GcrbSx), Toronto (bit.ly/2DDDHMu), and In 2018, Ottawa.

By the way, I am a new subscriber here saying thank you for visiting our channel earlier.
Looks awesome! And are cool 👍🏻 Nice one
I bought a Seagull Artist CW about 10 years ago. It has aged beautifully. I bought it over a Taylor or a Martin and I haven't regretted it for a minute. I've always wanted a true Gibson Hummingbird which is totally out of reach for me financially. This guitar was the closest I could find to that classic Gibson intonation for under $2k. Seagull is an impressive guitar company.
Hello, another beautiful video of you, a nice evening and best regards, Alex
beautiful guitars nice video Danny.
Allergy Boys 茶岩石 thanks!
Great review and video!! Keep em coming. Thumbs UP #73
that so lovely, i tried to play the guitar at school and was told as i couldn't read music i wasn't allowed. thanks for sharing really enjoyed watching.
Still Image Productions that hurts to hear. I'd you ever want a lesson I can teach you without reading music I don't know how
Grab a guitar and start with RUclips lessons, my friend. It‘s never too late.

OMGBEKKAG Thanks friend!
Great video..
lovely sound, i like musicals
I love the review. We have a guitar here that my daughter wanted, but she has not played it yet.
Centsible Living With Money Mom I remember that as well when starting and have to grind for a while until things start sounding good then the desire to play ramps up too
She plays the mandolin.
Nice !
A little late but nice guitar congratulations. I own the Seagull Artist Mosaic CW and it's a phenomenal guitar both in terms of sound, workmanship and quality of materials.
Seagulls are fantastic!!
Good review the guitar sounds very open and transparant , Nice inlays! .. i think spruce guitars have more treble and are louder ... than the darker toned ones. I played in Denmark in a music store on a couple of seagulls , they were the best in the room.
Seagulls are outstanding for sure! I like the inlays too thanks john!!
Great review, cool review and demo Danny... Liked 58 :)
Reit Fans thanks
Great!!!
Wow What a beautiful guitar. Sounds so good and very professionally done. :) Cheap to .
I think you should great! Nice guitar, too. :) Thumbs up!!
Great review!!! Awesome work!!
WonderBricks thanks for watching
Fantastic guitar it sounds and looks absolutely beautiful and the fact that the company is actually concerned about the environment is an added bonus 👍🏼 just have to name her now 😃
Darran Morris right any suggestions?
Danny Hauger erm I'm a big fan of Neil Young and a song like "needle and the damage done " would suit this guitar perfectly but any NY would sound amazing on this guitar it really had such richness and depth 👍🏼
I have owned a few Seagull guitars and have always been impressed but never had an Artist Series. Looks and sounds like a bottle of fine wine. I'm curious though, do you find the wider 1.8" nut comfortable. I liked the 1.72" Seagulls I've played but not sure on the wider neck. Also, the guitar didn't have a pick guard in the photo collage but has one in the video. Did you add that? Thanks for the review. The guitar complimented your song and voice beautifully!
Hi I'm one of your subscriber#1,107
Danny, nice review of the Seagull Artist CW. It looks like a killer guitar for a great price. I’ve been looking at Taylors, but own 2 Simon and Patrick guitars made by Godin, and really love them. I’ve also been looking at the Simon and Patrick Showcase CW Rosewood guitar. It is quite similar the the Seagull. Have you looked or played one of those? Both guitars appear to be about the same materials, spruce and rosewood, and the quality looks to be there. I haven’t been able to find either guitar in stock anywhere. I’d love to be able to sit down and try them side by side. Any thoughts on the 2 guitars would be helpful. Thanks.
That's a beautiful guitar but are the frets crowned? I can't tell even with the closeups. I had a La Patrie and a Simon & Patrick. They never bothered to crown the frets of either at the factory.
Hi I’ve left a like thumbs up 👍
So curious.
Wonderful guitar review, a very professional presentation. All my congratulations my dear friend Danny. You're an excellent singer and guitarist too. All my congratulations. Like 23. I'm here to support you and your channel. Best wishes and happy weekend
DJAWD Official you're very kind
Bravo
Seagull guitars are a hidden gem. I own two...a S6-CW thats about 18 years old...and a Artist series....I also got a Gibson J-15 and I swear my Seagulls sound a heck of a lot better than the Gibson. I can promise you that buying a Seagull will be the best move you can make on a cost efficient acoustic guitar! I want the Maritime mahogany back next!!!
So true!!
support your life
It’s a great guitar I actually have the same model.
Cool Andre!
Thanks for the support I appreciate it. You got my sub. You really seem to know a lot about guitars. I know nothing of it. Just the electric and acoustic guitar. The rest is zero lol.
Khrish Tiger I was there not too long ago lol!
Danny Hauger omg when I came to view and like your comment, I saw that I got unsubbed from you. Is youtube still messing with things? I subbed again and hit the bell button.
Looking at picking one of these up, a 2001 model, guy's only asking $420, probably a steal, but man it seems rather wide and large! I have a full body Yamaha FG700s now and I feel like its too big for me, so I've been looking for an auditorium size guitar, but these Seagulls seem rather interesting with their craftsmanship. Considering getting it and selling the Yamy, even tho its my first guitar ever at 18...
Yes, take it, absolutely, thats a dream price!!! Go for it Daniel, and be happy with it!!
@@DannyHauger Thanks my friend! I hope so! You still have yours?
looks like a fine guitar.....
Mark Allen thanks Mark
Just another post saying these guitars are amazing. Just play one of these and you will hear instantly it is better than most other high end guitars. This is *not* an S6. This is bright, projecting, clear, wonderful.
what's wrong with an s6? s6's are better than about 95% of taylors and martins I pick up.
@@PleaseNoMoreFarmhouseDecor
Well I was trying to explain why it is not more popular. Clearly it must be the cedar top. To me cedar tops are dull but they are objectively not as bright.
I had a 3 string Seagull A D A
They are beautiful instruments!
Guten Morgen mein Freund, Alex hat dich besucht. Und ich muss sagen ich habe den Besuch sehr genossen. Liebe Grüße aus Bayern, Alex
Thanks for the visit!!
Is it acoustic electric? Where are the controls?
Yes, on the side.
@@DannyHauger what good is that? Can you use them?

What a nice advertisement.
Nice song, and I'm sure the guitar is nice as well but, it sounds like a pickup is being used. If there was not mic used that would account for the strident quacky nature of the sound. Redo this with a good mic and the song will bloom like a may flower.
Thank you,
Thanks for the idea Phillip. Happy blooming!
The action is sooo low
nice guitar but here's a tip .. because im lucky to be able to be honest with you .. please stop singing. All the best.
Nah, one never gives up on a dream, and self-expression can't be wrong, hope you find something you love to do! its my weakest part, but I will continue, thanks for your support!
@@DannyHauger Never give up your dreams ... but first, make sure it's a dream worth not giving up. Cheers.
Love these guitars, and your attitude, but this song is garbage. It sounds like a song I wrote after 6 months of playing guitar when I was 15. I’m sorry to be a hater. Is it satire and I’m missing the joke? If so, then bravo 👏
Not sure you're sorry about it, HA, thats fun, thanks for the smile. And thanks for the review compliment, my music, as Spinal Tap says, is getting more selective. Cheers!
