Thank you for the very informative video. I am a budding new home mechanic and I have an awesome 2012 XT650. I want to get an older machine and do some rebuilding, just for fun. I love and always have loved working on bikes etc. and now quads. Awesome guys!!! It's too bad I am in Canada cause I would sure love to come and ride with you guys, I have watched a shit load of your videos, you guys are awesome and I love the friendship you guys have. Keep up the good videos!!
Absolute perfect timing I swamped my cforce 800 an I now have rod knock an this video should be a pretty similar process not exactly the same but I’m sure I can figure it out based off this
awesome video guys... I overfilled the oil today and lost the plastic tube on my syringe trying to pull some oil out. so so stupid... any idea before I get into something this big?
Do u think it will be possible to remove the top end with out removing motor? Have to replace valve seals on my wife's 570 outlander keeps burning oil and smoking blue.
Yea, it is a little tight in there but it is doable. You’ll have to remove the exhaust to access the rear head. Make sure your clean the engine and surrounding areas really well to prevent mud/dirt from getting in the engine.
Please elabore on the 20:56 mark after you removed the 14 mm hex bolt. Did you put that same bolt back in before mounting the flywheel tool? Hard to tell.
It should be roughly the same with assembly. I’d refer to your service manual to confirm any torque specs and the direction of things like the pistons.
Between Seths comment and Marshalls inability to be ok with coming in 2nd, I would say its going in Marshalls 650. However, Seth's comment could be smoke screen and its going in Dads or GF's. If I had to pick, Marshall is getting some added torque.
I basically got this motor for free. I bought the motor, the 850xmr transmission, and STM primary for $1700. The clutch is easily worth $1000 and the trans is about $7-800 used so they both practically covered the cost of the motor.
For years people have referred to engines as “Motors” as a “slang” term. Although you are correct, we still call them motors and will continue to do so…🙃
@@LetDirtFly Where did you get that flywheel removal tool? I just bought a 2017 Defender that got hit in the passenger side rear wheel. Looks like a newer low mile machine but got water in it. Thanks for making this vid!
Not many videos on RUclips this clear on how to tear down one of these motors. Good job. Just finished rebuilding mine as well. See y’all at busco!
How’d the rebuild work out for ya?

Where did you find a whole seal kit?

Nice thick cylinder walls on those jugs.. Nice to see.

If it makes you feel any better, I dropped something down the spark plug hole. Going to be pulling the head. Good luck to ya!
Awesome video guys , inspiring me to get a 2023 can am outlander 570 xmr when I have the money.
Great video. Had to subscribe

@LetDirtFly thanks appreciate the info

Used the bolt to help pop the flywheel off. We found that if you do what we did, it will need up the hex. The solution is to use a socket.
Hello
Please let me know if i can change water pump but not split engine in half?
My water pump is stuck
Thank you!
Awesome awesome awesome video
Thank you!
Is this close to how a defender engine rebuild will be?
It should be roughly the same with assembly. I’d refer to your service manual to confirm any torque specs and the direction of things like the pistons.
Is this motor the same as in a defender?
Mine lost pressure because a small piece of the timing guild came off and got such in the bottom port

I think Marshals 650 is gong on sterroids with the new 850 motor.
Marshall they make E style sockets for those head bolts
Ive been trying to figure out the socket for the head bolts is it just an E16 star socket?
We do u get a service manual for a can am 2021
I'm still surprised these motors don't have a piston squirter
The case I’m getting has squirters that I’ll be installing
@@LetDirtFly make sure to show it on the rebuild. id like to see it!
Get that guy big guy some oxygen, stat.
How much is this rebuild costing?
We’re going to do a price reveal at the end including the price of the tools. Right now it’s around $1500.

Might as well turn it into a 1000 or as close ad u can get to 1000
Hi❤
❤hi
First off it's an engine. The starter is a motor.
