    Once the second half is printed and both halves are glued, you can place the full item in a large container with acetone in the bottom to expose it to acetone vapor. The vapor will react with the survace, melting the plastic slightly, allowing the surface tension to smooth out the print lines. It only takes a few minutes, which makes it the best method for smoothing.
    I might recommend though, that prior to gluing you might consider inserting some metal supports given the size of the piece. A metal rod or two will definitely help prevent it from drooping or breaking under its own weight. As well as add weight to it to make it feel a lot more like a real item.

    • @YutaXun
      @YutaXun 8 месяцев назад +1

      Depends on the plastic used. PLA is a no but abs works wonders with acetone.

    • @Chriss_Workshop
      @Chriss_Workshop  8 месяцев назад +1

      So while thats a method, theres quite a lot of space here so you'd need a large enough container. When i made it, i simply glued it together. And used a soldering iron on the edges to weld up the outside. You really dont need a metal rod because it isnt very long and is relatively thick. I have a full video featuring me building and finishing the prop on my channel.

    • @Chriss_Workshop
      @Chriss_Workshop  8 месяцев назад

      Also for smoothing, theres so much flat space, my orbital sander and some filler primer knocked it out very quickly with nearly no effort

    You don't know which model, free or paid, is my signature for the Lamborghini Lp560-4. I mean, by my signature, I mean it has details for every piece of income, so that it is possible to attach screws to each piece, and not just an external model.
    Because I will make a 1:10 miniature model first, then I will make molds with a 3D printer and make the chassis with carbon fiber. The rest of the pieces that can be used with carbon fiber are made in a lathe shop and the engine. I will see at the end if I can buy something similar.

      @@Chriss_Workshop Yes, this is true. I think this is also the case. Designing the cabin is easy, but making the correct screw locations to connect the rest of the pieces is the most difficult because any screw location I make incorrectly will cause corrosion or failure of the project. It's a game props, in the game lore you increase your slash damage by pulling the trigger as you swing the blade

      Yep, firing the gun makes the blade vibrate, allowing it to cut easier. According to game lore

    Ok, what material and what settings? I have one of these and struggle to get good prints off of it. It just sits in the corner of my shop collecting dust...

    • @Chriss_Workshop
      @Chriss_Workshop  7 месяцев назад

      It takes a LOT of patience to print with this thing. This video was recorded years ago. I've long since sold the printer. The settings were default aside from some basic stuff for the sword like 3 walls and 15% infill. I think print speed was 45mm/s? Its all about getting that annoying bed leveled so the nozzle really mashes in that first layer into the belt so everything sticks properly

      You cant/shouldnt enclose an infinite axis machine. It makes it more of a standard device. You can close 5 sides but the front would still leak microplastics. Many people dont enclose their devices. However i also run my machines in a different room. This is in the garage. My printer these days is in a spare room. Im not actively inhaling fumes. Im rarely in the same room as a running printer. Im not like these kids who want to run a printer in their bedroom. All that aside, i also havent heard anyone speak of any health issues in this hobby thats formed from micro pladtics. And i know many who run full print farms. Or sand the plastic for projects. Without respirators, blasphemy i know. People love to shout about micro plastics from the rooftops. I'm not a doctor. Print at your own risk. PLA may kill every printing enthusiast. Or line our livers with plastic and make it harder to process alcohols. Who knows? I dont know, i'm just a guy who thinks the hobby is neat and posts random videos online.
