You all can do MUCH BETTER THAN THIS!
Every aspect of this bivy is disappointing and the fact that components were forgotten and it couldn't even be set up is ridiculous.
This is Luke's Agenda Free Preview of the Alps Mountaineering Stealth 1 Person Bivy Tent....get ready, this product has a lot of problems.

Nothing says stealth like a bright red bag with the word stealth printed on it.
The word stealth makes it so stealthy.
Nice and stealthy hiding in the red colored hills.
🤣
You'll be thankful when you're on Mars and no one can find you!
😂
🤣
Be nice on the carn Mor dearg translated from Scottish to English as “great red peak” 😂
What a shame. I own two tents from Alps Mountaineering's heavy duty Outfitter line - the Taurus and the Extreme, and have had nothing but good experiences with them. As for the customer service of Alps; I will say that despite having to email them directly not being everyone's cup of tea; they were very fast and responsive the one time I needed to use it. I had asked them for advice on patching a tear on the fly and follow up re-applying a waterproofing after a major storm in Acadia had brought down some branches on the Extreme. Within two hours of the initial email, I was sent a reply asking for a shipping address, and instructions on a temp patch - they not only sent a new fly; but also a fitted ground sheet and a tent storage bag. Was a nice a little surprise to find once I got home from the trip.
Hi Luke , too many issues with this to consider buying for a seasoned camper , you pointed them all out ! Thanks
It makes me think of the "forts" we made as kids with moms sheets under the kitchen table! No way!
I get claustrophobic just looking at this coffin-esque “tent” 😳
Me too!
Never pay attention to those little signs that say contact the manufacturer rather than returning it. It goes back to the store if the product is defective period. The company has no impetus to fix your problem -they can drag it on for months on end or just ignore you, and meanwhile the return window has closed.
The only good thing is that poly does not stretch when wet, that is a property of nylon. Bad thing is that poly is a bit easier to damage.
Under UK law your contract as the customer is with the company you bought the product from. So, never mind all this guff about not returning to the vendor store; UK law compels you to do this and also lets the manufacturer off the hook; the manufacturer has no legal obligation to an end customer.
I've had to use the customer service email for Alps before, and they didnt want me to send the defective product back. Just requested pictures of the damage, and proof of purchase.
I have used an Alps Mountaineering Lynx 2 for the better part of 10 years and have never had an issue with it, I love that tent. I also have had one of their inflatable sleeping pads. I have replaced it with a nemo pad, but it gets used as a spare for the kids due to being too narrow for me. I have not purchased anything from them since so I can't comment on any newer products. I have replaced the Lynx 2 with the One Tigris Cosmitto 2.0 based on Luke's review and I love it. My son now uses the Lynx 2, and it serves him well.
Nope! Too many design flaws. And, $100 to $120? I'm out. Giant first aid kit! 😂 Great statement.
Hi Luke love your videos and reviews love your love for the outdoors and gear that needs to be used I really think you should start your own company or be a consultant for anyone of hundreds of outfitters that make these products your insight you would do great and it would be great for the outdoors community 😊
I would purchase TOGR camping and hiking gear, if It could be kept budget friendly
@@LOSTinS.Cyep so would I. BUT, it would definitely have to be budget friendly and no marking it up just to mark it down and call it a sale 😂 👍
Luke, I appreciate the efforts you gonto for us. I hate this thing. A tarp, or a lanshan 1 would weigh less and be much more comfortable!
❤❤❤ absolutely love your channel and content!! Thank you so much!!
Thank you so much for your review! I really look forward to hearing/seeing your input.
I'm looking forward to the day you finally have enough and start your own tent company. I love the idea of a bivy tent but I don't like the idea of carrying a portable sauna with me.
So glad I had purchased that OneTigris 2P net tent and have a very good tarp. Both cost less than this and weigh about the same and pack down very small. Yes I have to either use sticks, a ridgeline between trees or hiking poles, but airflow, comfort and keeping dry & away from bugs are my minimum requirements.
This bivy doesn't even punch one of my requirements.
In my experience it's nylon that stretches when wet/cold. Polyester fabrics like this usually stretches much less. Or?
Cheers from Sweden!
Luke is the Doug Demuro of outdoor gear... Giving us all the quirks and features. Now we need a Luke Score.
And this is why Luke always talks about setting up a tent ⛺️ BEFORE you ever take it on a first adventure. The time to find out it’s missing parts is at home not at your campsite.
My Meramack 6 has been awesome as a car camping tent. This thing looks like a fancy body bag. Get it together Alps.
Same! I have the Extreme 3 Outfitter and the Taurus 3 Outfitter. Both have been beyond wonderful. I've used the extreme on multiple road trips where its been in use for over 50 days. From Teton and Yellowstone, to Yosemite, Acadia, and Glacier.
Perfect example of why we set up new gear before heading out into the field. Stealth 1....funny.
RIGHT ON. I set up my Hilleberg Enan & gave it a good soaking with a hose prior to taking it out on an overnighter because I wanted to be sure it provide me with dry shelter during a storm.
Luke... YOU can do better... better than that rookie move going out without first testing it out/pretest/double check that all components are in the bags.
Okay, now I get serious. I have 4 Alps tents. Two are the Meramac 3&4, and two are Mystique 1.5 and 2. I have a couple of their air pads. I have always had GREAT service when I have had self-inflicted problems (broke an aluminum pole/burned my fly). I do not think everyone of their product are the best design, but they usually offer a good value and again, great CS. Things do changes and I can only speak to the PRE-Covid years as I haven't had any problems.
Personally, I agree with your assessment of this... not a good bivy, not a good tent, and NOT a good value. So, they blew it on this one.... hopefully they'll learn from this mistake and work to build a better bivy!!!
As ALWAYS, thanks for another honest review. Now I'm wondering what other Alps tents/products you didn't like????
Great review. I've been looking for a bivvy or build my own. Thank you. ✌️👍
Hi Luke! Well, welcome to the modern day world! A LOT of products aren't worth the materials they are made of. Badly designed and engineered, just send the design over to (insert country name here) and have them popped out, then sell them to un-informed customers and let's make us some money. We are fortunate we have you, Luke, to let us know what is crap and what is worth our HARD earned money! GOOD LUCK testing this thing!
I once bought a Kelty tent that they forgot to sew on the fly a guy loop on one of the door vestibules.
Had to send the fly to their repair center to have it sewn on.
Steering clear of this one! This is Exactly what I have been looking to purchase for my next solo trip.
I have a similar tent, but the upper half is mesh with a rain fly. On a few hot camping days, I unzipped the rain fly and was able to stay cool.
Suggestions? Plan, prepare and be ready. It is really important to do a mock run before going out into the 'wild'. Preparation is key folks. That's all. 🐇
I've always considered Alps a car camping heavier/cheaper option for just that. I think I've had a couple of their tents over time, I know I bought one for my kids. We always tarped them as well, so I don't recall ever having an issue... but we did our best to avoid such, I also think the size of their tents are a tad larger than similar tents. I think REI sells many of their products (or used to).
Looks like a colorful body bag
Needs a mid hoop. Bivvy to me means pack a tarp in case of rain. Just meant as a dew cover, bugs would love it! Ever look at an Aussie Swag?
That’s the great thing about this channel the product sounds great and something you might buy but after watching this would I f*** buy that
I'm not phobic about small spaces.for sure...but...that is just to much to have a nice tent touching you while your trying to sleep ! To many problems right out of the gate!! So it would be a nope for me and hubby if we are out hiking over night. Thanks for sharing!!
If out in the field with no other supplies you can use your shoe strings for a tie out.
This bivy looks very similar to the Dometic Pico 1x1 (which is very heavy but has amazing quality)
I appreciate your analysis on all of these style of tents, Luke. I've been sporting an Alps Mountaineering Aries 2 for the better part of a decade now that has served me well but is starting to leak here and there. Would you have some modern recommendations for that tent size/price point?
Thanks for the video. This is sad. I have an Alps Mountaineering Lynx 1 and Lynx 2 that I bought years ago. Both have served me well and I still use them to this day. In fact I actually rode out the edge of Hurricane Matthew up in the Uwharrie National Forest in NC in the Lynx 1 without any issues...although it was a little nerve-wracking to say the least.
Could this be a case of good intentions - bad execution? I agree that the guyout points make no sense at all. I'm also sure that this thing would turn into a sauna in the summer here. Hopefully this isn't an indication of things to come from Alps Mountaineering.
Back n the 1970's I had a cheap little bivy tent that went on a lot of backpacking trips. It was a little embarrassing to pull this out when everyone else had expensive tents, but it did it's job and had all the features this thing lacks. The only time it failed me was in an ice storm when the weight of ice caused it to sag and froze the foot end of the tent to my sleeping bag. To think that that there was better, cheaper, tech than this 50 years ago is pretty sad.
Send it back ! Don't mess with it ! Let's see a good stealth camp video soon !👍
Luke, you're a great person. Thank you.
I stopped buying their products a few years back. I have yet to own anything of quality from them.
I have their 2 person chaos tent is what I believe it is and it’s been fantastic plenty of trips and rainstorms and it’s never once leaked but idk what’s up with this thing
I would advertise this as an emergency bivvy . It’s weight and colour would be ideal.
for sure....I mean they produce it for mountaineering where u need the visability
I don’t like those types of tents, mostly because I am slightly claustrophobic.
Just looking at that type of tent and I am starting to get anxious…
I actually love the fiberglass poles. I'll order some for my much better bivy haha
Colorado Springs
Tomorrow morning.

I have already Emailed both divisions the same Email.
Jason thinks he's going to be a probation officer forever. :P
I'd say if the bivy didn't come with all guidelines to secure the bivy, most educated people always have 550 chord on hand or number 36 bank line, it's a simple fix that people purposely make a bigger deal and problem then it needs to be, as for it's use for stealth camping, that's why most of us carry a foliage colored tarp 10x10 to cover it up. Dimple fixes for a simple solution, to a simple project/problem. never make it a bigger deal then it needs to be.. Mr Murphy always mays a cameo in certain ways
Check out the Walkabout Swag, from Alton, out of Australia. I've only used mine once but I love it. Sort of similar to the one in this video except it doesn't suck.
For that weight and just a tiny bit more you can get a lanshan 1. 700g that you can cook in, keep dry and not feel like you're sleeping in a coffin. Plus, the Lanshan isn't bright red!
Thanks for saving me money on this Luke
that already looks flipsy from the first few moments onwards
Purchased the Alps Lynx 1 based upon your positive review…surprised Alps would put out such a poorly designed product.
i have a borah gear bug bivy. roughly 100 bucks, extremely stealth and ONLY 6 OUNCES!
Thanks for the first look. But to be honest, I wouldn't buy this thing with my dad's money and blame it on my uncle.
A well-rounded review.
I'm looking at that setup process and I don't want to do that on a mountain (or anywhere, really) when the weather is turning. I might just look for a cave for shelter instead.
I think the "stealth" comes from the carry bag looking like a first aid kit. Nobody will think it's a tent when they see it. That's stealthy. Right? Right?
Do you 4 tie out at the head end? The 2 additional front ties on the sides will help with tightening the side.
3 ties not 4
I’m looking a dome tent. I’m from the northeast, can you recommend one for me?
“Bug free if you want to maybe possibly…die in it.” 😂😂😂😂😂 this thing is horrendous.
I purchased an Alps Mountaineering Lynx 1 (actually 2 of them) after your review a few years ago, and theyve done me proud, best tent ive ever bought, and so i was expecting more from this. VERY disappointing Alps! I can say for sure that this will not be on my shopping list
As a professional backpacker I can confidently say I'd never hike with a tent that I can't fit my gear into
Thanks for the review of this eh interesting piece of kit Luke 😅
Would you like to share what you go-to bivys are?
I have never been a bivy tent fan myself through as it always has something sagging and space is limited. Here in Australia people like big canvas swag type bivy tents that need to go on the roof of the car to carry, bit over the top but each to their own
for mountaineering?
Looks like what Australians call a swag. Except most Australian ones are made with quality materials and put together right
That's kind of sacrificing everything to lose a pound or 2. I had a bivy that was mesh on top and it was nice looking at the stars and keeping out the bugs. Bivies are too small for me, though. If I can't sit up, forget it. I'll carry the extra weight.
This thing obviously has plenty of other real issues.
The missing guy line should never be an issue.
I set up new stuff in the backyard 2 to 3 times for adjustments, tweeks, and mods before ever going out in the field.
No one should ever just buy something new and run out in the field for actual use.
Hey I just saw a RUclips girl, she was showing a one man tent, maybe you will like it. Her page is “Explore with me Marloc” the tent its called “Dragoon unlimited Ridgeback 1” I don’t this person neither have her in page so,maybe you’ll like the tent, I think is $125 something like that.
The link says it's no longer available from that provider on Amazon
It was way too expensive for so little. However weight isn't generally something that I worry about.
As a routinied stealthcamper of the #StealthCampingAlliance I can confirm it is nothing at all stealth. Except maybe when stealthcamping on a pile of trash. It might ble d in there.
For stealthcamping I will stick to my nightcat hammock/bivvy.
For the first 3 minutes, it looks quite nice.
I love the way they call this Stealth , when its bright Red ! 😂🙂, and it cost how much ! 😮
In Scotland, this is not a bivvy, we could carry Haggis in the bag it came in though,
Thank you for the review. A thumbs up for you and a thumbs down for the tent.
Cranberries are hard to find in the winter
On the devil's throne video. Are there any wild boar in the area. They can make the sounds heard in both videos. And will follow you.
I'm waiting on Luke to create the "perfect" tent
Should have your own car kit full of tools and stuff.
That tent makes me feel like a coffin style tent. Whoever invented that tent must have had death on their mind for sure
Maybe you need practice setting poles in the tent sleeves? I hear practice makes perfect!! LOL Too funny
Nope. I can't see using a bivy when a 1P tent weighs a few oz more. I love my REI Quarterdime 1P. I chose it over a bivy.
Hi Luke, has you ever used the Bivy Tent from Aqua Quest?
How about a review of a crua bivy/hammock
You should design a tent that is perfect.
Would need a camo tarp to be stealthy.
I am probably getting colorblind in my old age, but does that stealth tent look red?
A Lotta flaws off the bat an for the price its a bit bad as there's lots of other bivvys an stuff that prob out shine it . an 6min in I made a joke . it be bivvying me crazy 😄 . still loved the video an hope ur doing well bro .
An in case the bivvy fails in the tests have a backup so if anything fails there's always a failsafe . much love an honor brother looking forward to the next video . 🙂
This product has some virtues but is overall wildly out of touch. Needs to tension at the top as you said, and if not side guy lines, maybe a small spreader pole for the middle. It doesn't need a huge area of mesh, but an area of mesh at the head end would be wise. They call it the "stealth" and then make it white and bright red? Also, haven't we made it clear that pole sleeves are annoying? Well, they're a tight radius with glass poles, so OK, but they very easily could be made less tight so that they aren't a chore.
I actually like that they make it clear that they want customers to contact them directly with issues instead of the retailers. I respect that a lot.
This is lazy, out-of-touch design. Alps has been one of my go-to recommendations for budget shelters, but this isn't one of them.
Ultimately, bivies and "bivy-tents" aren't for me, so perhaps my opinion means nothing, but this looks like a waste of $100
Will stick to my military gortex bivy bag
amazing mr
If you wanted to do a video explaining deniers and hydrostatic ratings, people would appreciate it.
Red is not stealthy. Definitely needs improvement.
Just ripping into them on this one. And good luck just make sure you have an out when you test this abomination.
Love your chanel is susie doing a solo in near future 😊
Motorcycle riders on overnight trips could entertain using this tent. Camper entry is interesting. Too small and limited ventilation rules it out for me. JimInCincy.....
maybe stealth in the sense it is low profile small in size and sits lowwer than a tent???
As someone with a mechanical and engineering oriented mind, I have been commenting and complaining about the poor design quality of literally thousands of everyday products in every facet of our modern lives for decades. I was a professional chef for over 20 years, and most people would be absolutely amazed at the number of pieces of equipment in the average American professional kitchen in the year 2024 that were originally designed in the first 2-4 decades of the 20th century that render them inefficient, dangerous, only suitable to people who are a certain height, or extremely prone to either breakage or complete failure.
*I've made the point countless times that the designers and engineers of most products destined to be sold to the general public for residential use, seldom, IF EVER, have any actual real-world experience in using or operating the products that they design and engineer. In addition, very few products ever seem to be tested in a real-world situation or environment with the designers and engineers present to observe whether or not their design and engineering concepts are valid.*
*This bivouac shelter seems to be suffering from a "Lack of Proof of Concept" as far as design and engineering are concerned.*
It´s like a Carinthia Micro Tent Plus
just wayyyy cheaper...price is 1/8
Looks like a poor copy of the Eureka Gossamer lightweight 1-person. I still use it, 20+ years after my son originally used it in the boy scouts. Don't buy cheap junk you plan to toss out soon. Thanks for another review, keep helping people to avoid mistakes and waste money.
The missing cord from the head end of the Stealth One must come with a cloaking device
Let’s goooo 💪😎
