I agree on the filterless thing. If you have a good study of all the factors and subfactors required in planted tanks it is possible. I am running FILTERLESS, NON AERATED, pressurised co2 injected heavily planted tanks since many years. Fish do well, breed in my tanks, plants do well. All in all..healthy ecosystems. There are factors which should be carefully studied and they are definitely not for the average hobbyist. But it is POSSIBLE. Great video 👍🏼😊.

BUT BIGGER VOLUME TANKS (100 or more litres) WILL REQUIRE SOME MINOR CURRENT. IF that is to be avoided the light levels will have to be scaled down CONSIDERABLY. Otherwise algae could be an issue. Personally My opinion is algae isn’t bad. Just shows an imbalance. Coming back, the light and co2 BPS has to be scaled down accordingly for the reduced flow. The plant selection has to be chosen accordingly. We can’t go for CONVENTIONAL good looking plants or CONVENTIONAL bubbles per second rates. The pressurised co2 has to be injected although very slowly. And the nitrates have to be monitored consistently. Fertlisation has to be scaled down. So all in all, you basically create a so called “lo tec” aquarium with injected co2. very few people in india truely keep “hi-tec” aquariums. Affordability is a big issue. Anyway so not to digress. All the parameters in our tank have to be played around with until you find the sweet spot. This is the thing which requires patience. I hope this helps. 😊

Thank you. Almond leave or other biological alternatives releases humic acid, which is beneficail for Bettas. But then as the leaves will degrade they will raise Nitrogen levels in the small confines of the aquarium too. There can be sudden pH changes also. So filtration and water change should not be neglected
