Eventually he started losing weight. They took him to the university and found out he had cancer. He lived a good life,and was loved.

True horsemanship is hard to find nowadays & some trainers cannot seem to keep a horse sound & fit without medications. I also did rehabs on my farm & when clenbuteral was legal I saw what it did to horses . Messes them up. I know it's sill being used & withdrawn in time to race without detection. The sport is a mess , I see it with my own eyes. We need changes & better trainers who put the welfare of the horses first.

It's not wrong to keep a horse comfortable if it has a problem but to keep them going with medications that hide serious problems is not ethical & killing the sport. If a horse has a problem they should be backed off their training until sound not numbed & sent out like nothing is wrong. There is absolutely a serious lack of patience in today's training. I have quit trainers who wanted me to go faster than a horse was ready for. Owners need education too! The horse should be respected and the number one priority.

That's crazy giving drugs to horses so young that don't need it. My horse didn't get his first dose of steroid type of medicine until he was 12 when he started getting heaves. That medicine can mess up their hooves if used to much.
They dope horses and put them through terrible workouts all the time. The horse was only 3 years old. Steroid use does effect an animals heart. They have to be weaned on and off of them. Ask any veterinarian, they will tell you so. There have been documentaries about these owners having their race horses put down intentionally for the insurance money because they're worth more dead than alive. Medina Spirit wasn't traveling at 40mph at the time he collapsed. He began to slow down as he approached the wire, which was not normal, and he then began to stagger before he eventually just fell over dead. There was no mention of anyone being injured so the exercise rider is more than likely okay.
40 drug violations and 75 horses died under his care. He needs to be banned from racing. ENOUGH!!

Medina Spirit wasn't traveling at 40mph at the time he collapsed. He began to slow down as he approached the wire, which was not normal, and he then began to stagger before he eventually just fell over dead.
There was no mention of anyone being injured so the exercise rider is more than likely okay.
