Grounding out is frustrating. So is top spin. Ideally, as baseball players we want backspin wether its throwing or hitting. That allows the ball to travel more.
Top spin is the worst thing we can do as hitting simply cause, those are outs when you face infielders that know what they are doing. So here a 3 BIG reasons why you rollover. Your power numbers might reflect

Ev is taught to be top hand dominant, which I believe is key to creating good extension resulting in the wrist acting as the last lever in the swing. Good top hand action is what keeps the barrel long in the zone. Ev is taught to use his top hand to ‘push’ the knob straight out at extension- when his hips are facing the pitcher.
The ‘pull’ seems to occur during two phases of the swing: 1. upper and lower body are disconnected (upper body chicken wings) and/or 2. The top hand, as you suggest, moves across the body rather than straight out. If the upper body is disconnected, then a pull is likely to happen as energy flows where tension goes. The sad part about a pull swing is that it feels strong to the young batter. And young players are lulled into an errant confidence. Pulling is what kills baseball dreams in the long run! We need a PSA on this national tragedy ASAP.
