Yeah, my friend Debi had returned to Bali two years ago and is still there. She started visiting Bali back in the early 1990’s. She seen a different time for Bali that is lost in development. I haven’t been back since Feb, 2020 and really want to get back there. I’m currently in Alaska and it’s friggin’ COLD as ever!

It is Ironic to read you are back, we are here atm too. Just left Ubud and now in Legian headed to Sanur in a couple of days, we will buy you a Bintang if we ever see you out and about. I think you're putting it out there honestly from minute 18, Lloyd - it's an Instagram place. I know Mandy is more upbeat and positive about it, but when I see the crazy traffic jams and hear it took you 6hrs to move 40km, then all that I've heard about Bali of late from fellow nomads makes me feel confident about not visiting. I also think it's a showy place; perfect bodies, hair, perfect online jobs; in a much more competitive way than in many other more relaxed nomad destinations. Happy you guys enjoy it but I can tell especially from Lloyds little comments here and there that it wouldn't be my place anymore, so I appreciate the honesty. I know that many people still love Bali, though - so not everyone feels bothered by those things, many actually want to live in these trendy "alpha nomad" communities. We're probably also beginning to be too old for the nepo baby target audience. Bali is the new Marrakech / Goa for many.

Yeah, I agree, a international SIM card will save you a ton of money. My friend from Hawaii visited Bali for 2 or 3 weeks and kept his same SIM card and he later received a $$ bill for $700.00 USD. The roaming fees are crazy expensive. Take Lloyd’s advice, but the international SIM card. I usually have a local driver friend pick me up when I arrive to Bali then buy a local SIM card, but the international SIM card would work best for me because I usually travel to Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore or wherever after staying in Bali for 2 months.
6hours from the airport to ubud is ridiculous I stayed there December 8 years ago it was so quiet. We had a villa / hotel all to ourselves beautiful place love Bali .
We went to a coffee plantation once when we went to Bali ita a great excursion we also liked the mangosteen tea and we bought a number of coffee home with us
Guys, great video as usual. The intro. was a bit promo heavy and longer-winded, than your videos normally are, but ... the rest of the video was as compellingly viewable as your videos normally are. I listened thrice (3x) to the Chap's accent which we were first treated to 09:19. Lloyd, there really is no tinge of Aussie in it, hey. Tell you what though, I have (the three times I've given listening to the chap's accent a go) heard a strong South African accent (itself tinged with Dutch influenced Afrikaans). Your amiable guide sounded like the South Africans I have met and spoken to, at some length not to mention the actors I have heard in films and even listened to here on RUclips.
Love the video, but absolutely no bugs in Jimbaran. Being there dozens of times. Even Murray Wilkinson said in his videos no flies etc in Jimbaran. I don't think they like the salt water mist.
Sad how places become Commercialized Tourist Traps. I went to Bali (Kuta Beach) in 1987. It wasn't commercial back then. Totally is now. Still love the country, but maybe time to explore some other Regions of Indonesia. What would you say is the NEW Bali of Indonesia?

Not only is this a real cause for concern for the safety of tourists, but also a huge issue for Bali’s public image. Bali’s public image.. The money scammers? The drug dealers on every corner? The prostitutes? The pollution? The insane traffic? The locals driving on the footpaths? The filthy beaches? The narcissistic brigade from Canggu? The taxes? The high prices? The corruption? Clown Town is real.
I don't understand why people still put up with all of this. There are significantly more beautiful travel destinations in Asia. The hype of Bali is totally overrated, worst mass tourism, just a night mare...

Ditch the wacko sunglasses Mandy. Bali looks as dirty as ever & even more crowded. Our Neighbour just got back (regulars to bali pre-covid just like us) and said the traffic is just insane and they are never going back to Bali again - their next trip is North Vietnam. We are booked for July for 10nights to attend a wedding and not looking forward to it as got used to now travelling WA & Australia in our 4WD & Van and just love it as was brought up as a kid doing this as my parents (bless them) were camping/fishing addicts & i got spoilt living & working in Broome for 3yrs before coming back to Perth where we live a stone's throw from Hillarys Beach. I did not appreciate just how good the WA coastline (some 13,000kms long) is until getting off my arse & getting out there and exporing it to its full potential which is just mind blowing - no pollution- pure white sand- crystal clear indian ocean-amazing sunsets- no traffic- no hawkers- pure bliss
Bali has narrow poorly kept roads with wall-to-wall smoky and noisy motor bikes . It is dangerous and difficult breath as riders cut in front of you or ride your rear. The locals view non Balinese as a nuisance. The country is beautiful but ruined by over-tourism and lack of infrastructure.
