I always felt like these two separate themes had a purpose thematically. Sonic’s What U Need is groovy and fun. Even in a tense situation like this, Sonic is carefree and having an absolute ball. Blaze’s What U Need is a lot more theatrical. She’s taking her pursuit for the Sol Emeralds much more seriously.
@@legendarywhitewolf I will agree that the Blaze remixes for sky cha cha, get edgy, and ethno circus make them better. I’m my opinion though the other ones are just as good as the sonic versions which is still really good
Fun Fact: The "you don't stop, you proceed, cause this is what you need" was also used in a video game on PS1 called Irritating Stick. Seriously. Said game was basically a video game version of a Japanese game show where you guide a stick through a maze without touching any of the obstacles or walls - and if you fail you get electrocuted with 10000 volts, apparently.
@@Kitsuna_Gacha I mean in the real gameshow itself they're wearing insulating equipment and I wouldn't be surprised if they overexaggerated the amount of voltage used
Something I always remember about this theme is that it was what I heard when I put on headphones for the first time in my life. The huge difference between the crappy speakers of the DS made me think I was listening to a "default" song from the headphones because it sounded so different lol. After a while I realized that it was the game's music but in much better quality.
I am so glad that my favorite Sonic character appeared again! Even though it's an April's fool's game. And the best part she hung out with Rouge! As if my OC was there and let them to get to know each other!
Honestly made me start tearing up. Replaying the game 4 years after my first playthrough, did everything with Sonic first, including the Chaos Emeralds. Then hearing this with Blaze was bittersweet as it tells me that I'm almost done.
The part with just bass is why I like this version better than Sonic's. I remember being in the car and listening to this repeatedly in the sounds menu of the game for that part specifically
Blaze is better because: Better music Better character design Is a cat Is surrounded in fire when she jumps Is cool af Yea I know, this is entirely based on my opinion and Nostalgia.
I feel the same. I also love her because of her character arc, she is very underrated who deserves way more attention than she gets. She's even my second favorite Sonic character and best female Sonic character in the franchise. The only one who surpasses is Tails do.... I mean Sonic the Hedgehog. He was part of my inspiration and he's a good character, but lost his appeal nowadays. Sonic deserves better, but he is still a hero to me. Sonic Unleashed and Sonic and the Black Knight did Sonic justice. But really, Tails Doll should burn in hell and most people will agree that Tails Doll is a forgettable, bad and shitty filler character in Sonic R. I may like Sonic more, but I prefer Blaze for her personality, her character arc, her gameplay and more.
The strings at the start make it feel more space-like. The strings feel like echo through the entire space station. Sonic's doesn't have this which makes it 10x worse.
What U Need is the only theme I don't have a favorite in versions. Like, both Sonic and Blaze mixes are great on their own, and I can't decide which one is better.
So random thought, but what if they made a real-time strategy Sonic game? Those games are all about doing things efficiently, going from place to place quickly, trying to get everything done while managing any threats in your way. I feel like that could compliment Sonic's playstyle pretty well as a spin-off. Imagine they take a Star Fox 2 approach where there's a big open area as you get from place to place, but it has loop-de-loops and stuff to make it interesting to explore as you speed across the expanse to get to important areas with more linear levels within them. Perhaps those linear areas could be Eggman bases or something.
I know the exact word you heard. If those were the actual lyrics it would still make since because Blaze is a cat. And if you are attracted to females the other connotation isn't wrong either! Lol
What I need is a Sonic Mania sequel in the style of Sonic Advance using modern stages, especially the early ones from the GameCube/GBA era. And absolutely no Planet Wisp, oh my god.
as great as this is, there's a sound (i think its drums or whatever idk) that makes it just too cluttered like someone is playing the same song at the same time but with a tiny delay in between also i kind of prefer the original but this one is great too
Yep, it's triplets on a closed hi-hat that come in the background occasionally. It can be tough to place them rhythmically, so that cluttered feeling can result, but they really do fit the 4/4 grid this is written in.
@@matthewbertrand4139 yea they do seem to fit the rhythm (from what i can tell, im not that experienced with music stuff) but it still sounds pretty cluttered sometimes thanks for the explanation btw, i appreciate it
this song was always more happy than sonic's too me which makes sense after all this is when blaze begins to accept friends so she would be feeling hopeful and happy while sonic's still energetic is filled with determenation to find blaze

Can we just thank this dude for letting us know the differences?
Don't forget the congas.
Sonic's version feels like the thrill of breaking into Eggman's base, but Blaze's version feels like the spectacle of being in space.
🍫
The string instruments make this 10x more epic.
Well, it is a princess of another dimension going through the stage this time. I think the changes fit that. 😁
Legit reminds me of Crisis City from '06
i like how it reflects blaze more serious attitude compared to sonic
the sound of the strings make you feel that you are in the final zone but later you realize that there are 2 more zones to finish the game
I literally can't hear them
Sonic's version sounds more funky than Blaze's, and Blaze's version of this sounds more "final" than Sonic's.

sonic do be vibing
Because after you beat both Sonic and Blaze's stories you get the Extra one.

Nah that's A New Day by far lol

the fact that the lyrics above are wrong shows how uncomprehensible the whole soundtrack is
there's also FEELIN' HOT
