    The pigs are really looking good, thank you for showing the design on that feeder I believe it'll work for my sheep

      I appreciate it! If you have any questions let me know. It has been several weeks now and I really like them.

    Nice build. Works great. No need to spend thousands. Thanks!

      Exactly! After several months using them they are still going strong. I have actually built two more. I am also going to build something similar, but lighter, for the pasture raised chickens to add more feed space.

    OK you convinced me to subscribe. It is good entertainment to watch your videos. Thank you so much for adding to my day and making a good educational video. You are doing such a fine thing.
    Billy at Perma Pastures Farm, intentionally put pigs in the worst most brushy parts of his farm. He even raised more pigs than he wanted just to use his pigs to clear his land. You may want to watch his videos on RUclips as Perma Pastures Farm.

      Thank you for watching. I have definitely watched the Perma Pasture Farm videos! I am setting up a new paddock today in another really brushy part of the farm. It will take a bushhog, weed eater and chainsaw to get the fence up. 😳

      What do you feed the pigs? Do you blend your own formula? Thanks

    • @coveychasefarm
      @coveychasefarm  Год назад +1

      @@miltonrogers5971 I start out with 16% protein Grower feed and then switch to a 12% Finisher feed once they are over 100lbs. I get it from a local feed mill that is only about six miles away from the farm.

    Love the video and feeder design. Is there anything you think I should adjust in construction if feeding a wet mix Sir ?

    • @coveychasefarm
      @coveychasefarm  4 месяца назад

      Probably not. I was wondering if it would leak but I have to turn mine over if it rains as they hold water.

      The feed troughs work great! Getting ready to make another one and something similar, but lighter, for our pastured chickens. I love the UForce. Would absolutely buy another one tomorrow if needed.

      Hello - no, I buy whole litters of piglets from a few neighboring farmers and then raise them on pasture until processing weight. The folks I got these from have sold out of the pig business.

    Hey there! Do you have recommendations for a processor? We’re in London and have scheduled our first processing. We were quoted about $175 per 250 lb hog. That’s with some of the meats being cured. I’m not sure what the going rate is around here or if you could recommend someone more reasonable who does a good job? Thanks!

    • @coveychasefarm
      @coveychasefarm  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hello. I use Summit Meats in Science Hill and have been very happy. However, your quoted price seems very reasonable. Especially with some of the meat being cured. The cheapest processing cost I have had with a pig was $190 and that did not include any curing, smoking or slicing.

    Do you find that the pigs eat less forage when you feed them more grain?

    • @coveychasefarm
      @coveychasefarm  Год назад +2

      I can’t really tell a difference. I feed daily around 4-5pm. If I go up there at noon they will either be lounging or foraging around but otherwise ignore me. When i go up for feeding they surround me and are ready to be fed. I think the fact I hand feed causes them to forage more than if they were self fed. I don’t think the amount I feed comes into play much.

    • @GeMojo-vn2rf
      @GeMojo-vn2rf 11 месяцев назад +1

      You'd really have to pump it to them for that to happen.

  • @GeMojo-vn2rf
    @GeMojo-vn2rf 11 месяцев назад +1

    Seems I get more gain by feeding them twice a day with the same amount of food, especially if I wet it a little.

    • @coveychasefarm
      @coveychasefarm  11 месяцев назад +1

      That could be right. With once a day I have less labor and encourages them to forage more I think. 🤷‍♂️
