- The Dallas Mavericks drop to 0-3 after a 106-99 loss to the Boston Celtics. They held off the Mavs' 21-point fourth-quarter rally. Kyrie Irving scored 35 points, while Luka Dončić had 27 but fouled out with just over four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Luka also ripped the officiating and demanded them to "be better." I wonder when the Media and fanboys will hold Luka accountable for being such a flawed player like people do for every other superstar. People love looking at box scores and believing that if the numbers look good the player must be playing great. I would argue the numbers this series have made Luka look better than he's actually been as far as impact. He's a great scorer but overall player he leaves a lot to be desired. Not complete enough to be a top 5 player imo.
He did lead them to the finals w/out homecourt in three series against three 50+ win teams. He's definitely flawed/limited, but he's also very, very effective.

You have Horford and Jrue, two vets who know the game inside and out. The Celtics are playing discipline ball. They are letting a Luka do whatever on offense, but don’t bail him out with fouls. If Lika makes the shot, then he makes it.
Closely look at how they are defending him. Luka loves to dip his shoulder and bounce off, fake the far away, dip should again and bounce off, the finally shoot the fadeaway. Boston is just letting him do just that. No fouls. Just let him keep the bounce off, pump fake, bounce off again- fade away. Every single person that guards him does the same thing. That’s coaching and that’s discipline. Then, they are literally seeking him out on offense. Who is Luka guarding, then come here and set this pick so I can get the switch!! Coaching, veteran players, and discipline!!!

As a suns fan when i saw the Celtics added Jrue they were going to be champions. I still have PTSD from him.
Luka is an elite offensive players but his defense is beyond pathetic. Time and time again Boston players walk around Luka as if he is wearing cement boots and its weird to see a so called sports analyst and former NBA player not trash him on the defensive end. Not to mention his perpetual complaints of being fouled which frequently causes him not to get back on defense as he argues with the refs.
Luka needs to look in the mirror! You can’t got out score 30+ and have a plus/minus of -11 and expect to be competitive! Guy needs to finally spend some time learning how to play defense and condition himself better. He looks like he has the body of a mid 80s pro golfer! Maybe a nutritionist too!

NBA often have dynasties because every series is 7 games, there's no fluke or lightning in a bottle. If MLB switches to 7 games in A/NLDS, we should see more dynasties as well, but of course, scheduling will be an issue. I think Celtics not only took advantage of the 3 rebuilding teams, I believe White, Porzingis, Jrue and Horford wanted to be in Boston and forced their way there. Even if their previous teams trade them somewhere else, they'll still end up with the Celtics as FA anyway.
You can’t blame them at all, but they played NOBODY to get to the finals. Halliburton and ? Who? The Hawks? And a bad Mavs team that got hot for a month? Sorry. The NBA is going so downhill. It soon will be labeled as entertainment instead of sport.

The main complaint about Luka Dončić is that he whines about the refs too much, and it’s like it’s all coming to a head right now. I do think he will eventually learn, though. These are growing pains.
