Hello Friends! Welcome back! Today I am playing with an idea I had while watching my Husband of Awesomeness do his wing pours..
My Colors are:
Golden's
Payne's Gray
Cerulean Blue
Arteza
Pearl Cactus Green
Violet
Sargent's Liquid Metals
Gold
DecoArt Americana Decor
Metallics
Emerald Green
Pouring Medium:
Liquitex Gloss Medium
Paint + a bit of Water
Floetrol
There is NO Silicone
in Any of My Paint.
I layer my cup carefully down the side, keeping contrast in mind (light dark, light dark).. then I thin out some Payne's Gray with water and lay that down as a basecoat.
I essentially pour a wing pour, but I'm also traveling with it laterally at the same time, then back in the opposite direction. It creates a very cool effect! Kind of reminds of those old fashioned tiered necklaces, very cool stuff! I tilt it to cover the canvas, then touch up the corners and edges.. and then I'm done! I love it!
I will probably put a few layers of varnish on this piece in a few more weeks (once its cured).. I think that my gold may have been a bit thin because I don't see a lot of gold in the painting, but I do see a shimmery haze over the entire canvas. I also did not use a lot of gold, my layers of it were rather small.

Oh, Mina, I ADORE the composition of your "Serpentine Wing Pour!!!!" It created such a beautiful composition, especially in these gorgeous colors!!! This technique is definitely going on my Paintings To-Do List!! (BTW, I totally agree with you about Gail's artwork. She's an amazing artist and has become a fabulous teacher! )

I totally understand HoA's fascination with Flames. I LOVE Flames (painted flames and real flames blasting out of exhaust pipes) because I grew up helping my Uncle build, wrench, and race roadsters and dragsters. In the 1960s and 1970s we were racing AA-Fuel Alterds, including exhibition racing in the Western States and into Canada. It was a super cool way to grow up!

This painting may depict the mating dance of the seldom seen Mythical Sea Serpent. Seen here, the wild whip of his tail creating infinitely enormous waves, flooding his world and terrifying the fragile and sensitive female and further endangering the species.
