    Tick Tok Clock is the worse 100 coin star actually. Preventing coins from falling into the void when you kill enemies is near impossible to reliably do.

    • @bl0cky64
      @bl0cky64 Месяц назад +10

      this is false as there are literally only two killable enemies (two bob omb at the bottom, the other remaining enemies are unkillable and don't give coins (heave-hos and amps)) that give you (TWO) coins, the level's coins are obtained using the blue coin switch which has 35 FREE coins combine this with the 8 red coins that are easily obtainable when time is stopped (16 COINS), along with the multiple exclamation boxes that give you 10 COINS, the level totals to 126 coins giving you more than enough room for mistakes

      @bl0cky64 It's possible I didn't stop the clock and inadvertently made it harder on myself, but I do remember coins falling into the void scores of times, and being unable to find any more in the level to get to 100.

      For me it was Rainbow Ride. TTC has a lot of verticality, so if you miss a jump, it's possible you'll land on one of the lower platforms, but there's less of that in RR on top of lots of long, boring carpet rides.

    Fun fact about this level,you don't see those boxes with faces again [called Tox Boxes] until super mario galaxy 1 or 2,they didn't really make appearances after that,same with the mummified thwomps inside the pyramid [called Grindel Tiles] .

      @cheezemonkeyeater Месяц назад +4

      @@stealthbeastgaming Fun fact: there is a glitch you can do with the hat and a warp that results in Mario carrying his cap around instead of wearing it. Makes you look like you slap people with the hat.

      Sorry, what? I need to look this up lol

    • @cheezemonkeyeater
      @cheezemonkeyeater Месяц назад +2

      @@NintenDeen What you do is you first loose your hat in a way that leaves it sitting on the ground somewhere. Then you use a warp repeatedly. Every time you use the warp, it multiplies the hat on the ground. If you pick up the hat, there will still be a pile of hats on the ground. If you step into the pile just right (do it slowly), he will try to pick up all the hats at once and it will glitch out the animation of putting it back on, resulting in him carrying the hat instead of wearing it.
      It's easiest to do this in Snowman's Land when the snowman blows you off the bridge.

    I don't really see it that way. If anything, Mario 64 was pretty well restrained when it comes to this type of game development style of the time. The collectathon games. They wanted to put meaningful content tucked away in the crevices of the game that not all players will, or even should, find. Understanding that some stars are more arduous for some players then others is the brilliance of their unlocking system. If you're frustrated with a stage, go to a different one to get the stars you need to keep making progress and come back when you're a better player with a cooled off temper.
    This is highlighted by the fact that proper completion of the game requires a measly 70 stars, and that the most arduous stars are usually loaded into the final stars of a stage, usually requiring intimate map knowledge to access. It's a beautifully elegant way to keep the skill floor low for beginners and the skill ceiling high for people who become passionate about exploring every nook and cranny to the level without going the Banjo Kazooie route of putting tons of meaningless shit over the surface area of every single map that you absolutely need to collect to make progress. And even Banjo Kazooie wasn't the most egregious example of its time.

      @roddydykes7053 Месяц назад

      As a kid I beat Banjo Tooie before Banjo Kazooie just due to how many notes you needed to fight Grunty. The Rusty Bucket Bay and Click Clock Wood ones were crazy for a kid.

  • @Yanmalover
    @Yanmalover Месяц назад +1

    Most definitely a challenging stage. Shifting Sand Land's difficulty is a 4/5 due to difficulty spike. ironically, Wet Dry World is difficult to lose a life in. Reason: Mario can simply jump in the water to regain all health and have nearly infinite attempts.
