It is amusing when companies respond furiously over negative comment. They are in fact more often than not missing a learning and growing opportunity. You learn far more from failure than you ever do from success, if you fail you tend to look for better ways to do something but if you succeed there is no incentive to improve.

Polestar is selling in over 27 countries and are selling a lot more vehicles than the likes of other EV startups eg., Lucid, NIO, Rivian etc

I was in Frankfurt last week, there was a Polestar dealership along with Nio and Genesis next to my Hotel - none of these three brands are in Ireland where I live so I was curious. The Nio team were really great, Genesis were so so. The kid working in the Polestar dealership had all the doors closed for the full 3 days I was there. Just him sitting at his desk. None of the automatic doors were functioning, stuck closed - one had a plank of wood wedging it closed. The manual sliding door on the side was closed, and seemingly only opened to let other staff in and out. I'm really put off the brand now for the reasons in your video, for them recycling ICE chassis with transmission tunnels, and for the behaviour in the Frankfurt branch. They don't seem keen to actually want to appeal to EV drivers.

Polestar is a very small brand globally, not uncommon in Southern California, but far less than Tesla. Polestar was something of an experiment by Geely to see if Volvo could design competitive and compelling EVs for the global market, based on the high EV sales penetration in the Nordic countries. Honestly not a bad bet based on Western EV market conditions 5-10 years ago. It just turns out, Zeekr was the better bet to go forward, as it's more Chinese, catering toward Chinese tastes, where the EV market is now growing in huge volume.

I have a Tesla 3 highland, and right now a rented Polestar 2 in NZ. I cross-shopped the two, and on value chose the TM3. The split of equipment across 2 option packs made the P2 far more than the TM3 to get what I wanted, and having spent some quality time in the P2 I’m pleased I chose the TM3. The P2 looks great and has lovely steering, but the TM3 is just better at everything else and heaps more efficient. I suspect the “strategic differentiation” package pricing (and inefficiency) is because the P2 is still on the old CMA platform, not a dedicated battery one, so they can’t make money at Tesla pricing. If that is so, they need to hurry up and roll the P2 onto SEA or something before it dies. And also, dump the “traditional” business model of deliberately enshittifying a price leader, Tesla and the Chinese brands have broken it.

    • @user-jt4fy4od9r

I arrived at the same conclusion, the Tesla was just better in every department whilst being cheaper and there was no compelling reason to go Polestar. I do know the Polestar 2 started life as front wheel drive (in single motor guise) but the latest revision is rear wheel drive. They are improving the car but what they really need to improve is the value proposition.

    Chick bait? What email?
We've seen it in the US and here in Europe where Tesla has dumped prices. Establishing a new brand is tricky and if your segment ambition (and you have a product that fits into that segment) says premium price the last thing you do is to dump your prices i.e. follow Tesla. So I guess Polestar is fighting tooth and nail to manage it's segment ambition - which includes a price point. Car packing has always been and ever will be a method of making some profit - Porsche will be doing the same. If you find the pricing not to your taste or you dislike their packaging (content, price and positioning) perhaps it's not your segment. I'd love a Polestar 2 - I can't afford it, that doesn't mean that I whinge about it. You either have the money or you don't. Either you can afford the packages or you can't.
New market entry is hellishly expensive. Newcastle, somewhere in Australia, sounds like it's not prio 1🤔
I can't imagine its personal decision that they haven't got car over there for you to test. I am sure there will be an opportunity for you to test one at a later date - it may not suit your RUclips though. I happen to live in a Central European Market, where Polestar isn't represented either - there's not a lot I can do about it. I drive a Ford atm if you are interested.

Here in Massachusetts they rust so if you get 18 to 20 years out of a car your lucky. So if I needed to replace my 20013 VW Beetle it would be. New Manual VW Jetta which would be about $26000 or a slightly used one for under $20000.

Sam. And you people who want a top quality, premium, luxury car for the price of a mass market budget car. ...... It doesn't work that way! ... The option packs offered by Polestar allow those of us, including me, who cannot afford a top tier premium brand, with all the bells and whistles, such as premium audio, Nappa leather, fancy wheels, high performance 400 plus horsepower etc. etc. to own that same top brand, premium car, at a price a lot more of us CAN afford, without some of the less necessary features. You may not be happy to be missing out on some features, but Polestar offers extremely good value for money if you choose wisely. I chose the dual motor, that's AWD 408hp with my selected paint, factory roof racks, and rubber mats, and the price came under the luxury car tax threshold. I don't have leather seats...... So what.... I still have a Polestar 2.... AND I LOVE IT!!!!❤

What a PR own goal from a desperate company. Keep telling the truth as you see it Sam. I personally like the look of Polestars but when I rented one for 3 weeks I found it really impractical, awful aduio quality and non-intuitive system. Hertz had it listed as a large car. There were only 3 of us with a medium suitcase and small bag each but my son had to sit with two rear seats down next to him jammed to the ceiling with bags and it handled like a barge, albeit a fairly comfortable one.

Up 80 per cent after they lowered their price back to what it was when they used to sell a shed ton.
Clearly raising prices by 20 per cent for the PS2 in 2022-23 was not a smart idea. They need to keep it sub 60k, that's where it belongs.
They also need to simplify the option packs. Ridiculous that for the plain sparse beautiful Swedish design they have such convoluted option packs.

That is cheaper then putting gas, so sales way up, and so is depreciation - what will happen in 12months?? IMO, the only part of a Geely 'luxury' car is the price. In reality it's probably cheaply produced just like a BYD. However, unlike a Tesla interior, at least the PoleStar looks like it was actually 'designed' by real designers, not just the children in an IKEA play pen (aka Tesla). BTW, I am a TSLA share holder, drive a Model Y, and have a Tesla charger and PowerWall battery in my garage.

Reviewer embargoes are the standard response to negative comments. You give an overall negative review, they cut you off, simple as that, and EVERY automaker does this. It's completely normal, and fully expected. The OEM marketing team has no way to know if you're a hater or what's going on, so it's easiest to simply not do any future business with you. If you didn't know that would happen, that's willful blindness on your part. That said, some reviewers push these angles to get "credibility", and it appears that's what you're doing, so congrats, mission accomplished. The only question is how far this will go, whether it'll just be Polestar, or will extend to the entire Geely group.

  • @chris27gea58
    @chris27gea58 2 месяца назад

Please stop suggesting. Let Polestar do things their way. 80% growth is not trivial and as Polestar moves to common platforms across the Geely group any commercial weakness in the brand becomes a more manageable matter. Profit is based on sales across the whole group (assuming there are common platforms, plant and production methods) so Polestar gets more breathing space as the total of Geely's EV shipments increase.
Polestar is making great EVs, so along with the headway being made by Geely's electric platforms in the EV market (with good reason), Polestar, too, is set to fare very well in the growing high end EV market that the brand is focused on.
You are having issues with Polestar because your reviews have been one-sided. You spoke of the likely withering away of the brand but instead sales are growing at 80% (and the annual growth figure could prove to be higher). Polestar, I would say, don't think they need your help to make sales.
