Patri sir, you made a single handed jugalbandhi of your own. Wow. Superb to hear that. In mridangam, left side is termed as shiva and right as vishnu. He metaphorically made a jugalbandhi between the two. 😍🙏
@@dantegaming7406 I don't think any high on it for mridangam. Except the fact that mridangam can make high variations in notations with base which could create magical experience upon hearing. The arithmetic jathis are all complex and spontaneous improvisations make a performer different ( same can be applied to tabla performer)
@@dantegaming7406 Bro, I had studied mrudangam at school level but wasn't a good student. These are the things I observed from it. Most song compositions prefer tabla as base. When the music goes classical mrudangam gets a place. But when mrudangam is used , the song is enhanced like being boosted than tabla.
@@dantegaming7406 That's because pf the deeper tone and sound variations that can be produced . Tabla can also be improvised in various ways , it all depends upon the artist who plays . All the patters , arithmetic formulas can be played in any percussion instruments including drums .

Where can I learn more about this type of music and what the hand signals mean?
Evan Templeton They are keeping time through those hand tapping gestures .. I am sure you may have figured it out by now
It is know as thalam which means time signatures. They are in multiples of 4,5,6,7,9. In this case this adhi thalam which is 8 aksharas multiple of 4.
Evan Templeton it's the rhythm calculation. In Indian classical music its very significant to have hand signal so as to measure the meter
