Amazing. Skillz bud. Your paint videos are my favorite. Still can't believe you do it all with tape masking. I tried tape masking once. Quickly realized I have no patience for that kind of work. My girlfriend said I should take a break. Because I was cursing the whole time. It's an art and a skill. Thumbs up.
Very nice. More beautiful work! I love the desert foreground with the gorgeous sunset fade background. The look of this one really captures the essence of the KOH.
A cheep way to practice fades and lettering is to use a 2 L bottle of soda cut in half. So you don't waste a $30 body. And thanks for another great video Chris
Thank you someday I am going to have the money to pay you to do a body for me for my scx10 Dingo ....something wild and crazy...I love your work. And I hope all is well with you and your family also. I saw the pictures of you and your dad he reminds me of my dad alot but my dad still says I must be the mailmans kid because I am a foot taller than my ole man...lol
Thank you once again Chris your builds and paints are unbelievable i hope to see your DBXL get a new paint job very soon, keep it up your an inspiration to is all!
After giving masking a first try yesterday on my Traxxas Slash body I appreciate your masking even more, you don't see how difficult it really is. Was so depressing I had to have a beer, and then a couple more - then I got the brilliant idea of not bothering with putting the tape exactly where I wanted it and just cutting it instead. It's far from perfectly straight lines but this body is going to be the first one ever that I paint and its probably going to be smashed harder than a turtle in Super Mario before next weekend so it doesn't really matter all that much. :-) Can't wait until I'm done with my styrene D110 project and get to paint it.
You've convinced me to try a fade on my next body painting! I can't believe myself, that after 32 years in the Hobby, I've NEVER even tried a fade before. The way you describe it, it seems easy enough. I DO realize the level of skill is a big factor, but I haven't been in a competition in over 15 years! I don't care if it doesn't look perfect. I don't want to mess it up of course, because I really have very little money to spend.... I can't afford to destroy a body - UNLESS it's because of hard running! 😜😎 Thank you!
Things have changed drastically..... Internet will be shut off sometime today, and we'll be homeless within a few weeks. I lost this war. If you know anybody who could help, PLEASE pass along this link. I will keep my PayPal Debit card on me, and check at ATMs every once in a while. Just in case SOMEONE is willing to help us. going to be passing this one on as the RC Guys here in Vermont USA are going to be holding an RC King of the Hammers this next coming year not sure what month but will post some videos when we do have it and tag you as well thanks for the great post and looking forward to your next post
That's amazing & inspirational!! Great paintjob, I can't believe it's done with spray cans! I thought it's airbrushed when I saw it on instagram. LOVE IT :) !
You inspired me of doing my own painjob on a Telluride Shell that i bought for my first Nitro Buggy that is over 15 years old now. I want to bring it back to life again with a nice Battlefield 3 paintjob next summer. :)
I know this is an old video..... but in case you're still wondering, as a guy who's lived in the Southwest US for over 25 years, the correct plural term IS Cacti! 👍😉 Just FYI.
nice go Chris for doing it for the first time bro and again I repeated this many times my friend outstanding work man I mean it really is I mean pissing the hydro dipping and all that BS you got it bro take care wil
I have never been a fan of hydro dipping, at least not on the entire body. You can do a lot with a little, just using these simple cans and techniques.
Thays the MAIN reason I sold my Ex Terra,,Thing was Tough As Steel!!!BUT it's the Biggest pain in the BUTT to work on,, (Need little kid hands)GR8 RC though(Good for racing on the track)
Nice Job on painting !! I use my air brush only why it does not stink up my house and I can paint in the house with out the G/f screaming at me lol . Question did u cut all the details out using a hobby knife or did u 3 D printer cut them ? That's one thing I'm not good at yet I have a shaky hand lol but getting better lines are getting better my air brushing comes out very nice people say u painted that I say yes but just wish had a steady Hand would be more professional lol
Hello. Been watching loads of these videos as I am gonna try and paint a body for my dbxl. I thonk I am gonna try a gt40 style body. I just was wondering that when you mask it up, the parts that you cut with the knife, you do them on the body. Does this not affect the shell at all?
Nicholas Lovell Hi Nicholas, if you don't "score" the lexan, it's not a problem. Just try first on a scrap piece to see how much pressure you need to apply to just cut through the tape or the liquid mask. It's not too hard!
with talent like this how do you not have as many subs as rcsparks? you actually do all of the build yourself instead of contracting out and having other people do your builds.
I guess there are a lot of answers to that, haha! I indeed do everything myself and actually care about this hobby, I'm not in this for the views or subscribers.
That's so awesome! :D I've got a body laying around that still needs some paint.. But every shop I've been too sells the paint for usually €10 or more a can.. It could be just me, but I think that's a bit expensive... So the search continues for some cheaper paint or for the moment I just give up and lay down the cash :P
Thanks for the repy, , GREAT JOB on all your work and time you put into your vids. THANKS AGAIN.. really big help to me.., Still have not pick a truck or brand to buy yet new at this ...

Amazing. Skillz bud. Your paint videos are my favorite. Still can't believe you do it all with tape masking. I tried tape masking once. Quickly realized I have no patience for that kind of work. Very nice. More beautiful work! I love the desert foreground with the gorgeous sunset fade background. The look of this one really captures the essence of the KOH.
Thanks Heath, it was quite an easy one to paint, but a very fun one at the same time.
I said it once...and I'll say it again...your skills are sick!!
Definitely the best exo terra I have seen.
A cheep way to practice fades and lettering is to use a 2 L bottle of soda cut in half. So you don't waste a $30 body.

Hey there just curious as to what tires and wheels you're running? They seem pretty versatile and planed on putting them on some of my bashers.
mylife972 Those are the ProLine Super Swampers, a very grippy and good looking thread.
Awesome build as usual :)
What kind of tape do you use for masking? Is it a special kind?
Dylan Borchert It's regular 3M masking tape, code on it is 2367.
excellent
Wow nice paint job. Goes to show you don't alway need an airbrush to do nice work. Just a very steady hand and sharp blade. Ha
Victor Pitones Indeed, imagination is everything.
