Abby gets 10 points for doing 360 spins and 15 points for a fantastic J-turn. Nate gets 15 points for a nice drift around the spot on the floor and another 8 points for the mostly complete drift around the garbage bin. I'll give Nate an extra 2 points for jumping it.. Pretty Even ;) .. Nice vid as always :)
It's a good toy for a kid, but it's pretty useless for drift, you really do need proportional steering and throttle to control the car other wise like in your video, you'll just be spinning all the time. People have different ideas about getting started, but if you're not up for building a kit which takes a fair bit of knowledge to set it up correctly, something I'm still learning, then you could grab something like the Kyosho Mini-Z AWD. Runs on AAA batteries, has proportional steering and throttle, it run straight out of the box so you don't have to worry about figuring out the settings. A bit expensive, but they look amazing and run really well. As for the tyres, from what I read, the common practise is to heat the tyres either through hair dryer/heat gun or in a hot water to allow the plastic to expand (drift tyres are all plastic of some kind or other).
I'm already subbed to him. For drift I have the atomic DRZ, semi drift with Mini-Z RWD and I've got wltoys k989 on the way. Also if I feel like switching wheels out, I can put the Kyosho AWD rims on the Carisma GT24B I have and drift that too. Love the micros.

I've got an HPI E-10 Drift. Fun for sure! Lots of room to grow to go from power sliding [4 wheel drive] to drifting [RDW] with a locked up rear differential. But its fun to learn the techniques. I plan to change and upgrade it as I use it more.
Steering and throttle input are key in drifting. Proportional is key. RWD only, all wheel is power sliding. I slide irl, drive a BRZ coming from a 240 w/skyline motor. Great Video!

What I did is convert it to a rear wheel drive. Drift tyres on the back, and rubber on front, you will be able to control the drift.

did you ever get this running with two batteries? i got one today but only turns on with the bottom battery plugged in so cant tell if the second battery is even connected.

i found one like this on amazon for 1 dollar 5 dollar shipping and i had extra money so i bought it and i think who ever searched it played with it because one of the batteries where dead and the other was charged and the body was bent and the package was crumpled but then the steering motor went out and no other ones worked for it so i took the leds off and wheels and tires and i kept the spoiler and mirrors
The alternative is brushless. Don't really know the difference between the two but usually brushless is faster and more reliable but brushed is better for crawlers or torque (I think, I am not entirely sure so don't quote me on that)
brushed is old tech and generaly slower and wastes electricity cuz of the friction of the brushes pressing on armature transfering the electricity and the brushes wear out over time because of this
some good advice already, nothing to contradict, there's no perfect answer to your question. if your style is taking a rock crawler on a hike ignore the snobs re brushless. if you are confident your are going to take the plunge into the hobby after hanging out w your Buddies . . . brushless might be the way to go. if you are just dipping your toe and aren't sure you may or may not take to like a duck in water a good brushed that offers a path to upgrading might be the most cost effective in the long run . . . and buying a $75 brushed setup that you end up replacing nearly every damn part and ends up 2x+ might not be the way to go. Or you simply don't want Jr crashing into Grandma at 30 MPH w a 1/10 brushless, or brushed. or eye have to run this by the Mrs before getting permission. For most of us budget would some part of our goal? to that eye would say take what you think it is and divide by 150% because you will underestimate all the not so extraneous stuff = spare parts for the weak points likely to break, tools to fix, upgrading batteries, etc. The Etc, etc adds up. Know yourself, is it your style to pay the local Hobby shop to fix it or eye am going to low ball via the slow boat from China? has its own hidden costs = stockpiling parts / anticipating weak points before it happens. And there's folks who just like tinkering, build a shelf Queen if that is what you enjoy, Bling out a WLToys < that replacing nearly every part applies to if you run it. if You aren't part of the 1%, take your budget and multiply by 67% and reserve 33% for parts that are going to break, And upgrades you will likely wish upon since there are few perfect RCs, most have some weak point. weak Servos, sloppy steering, better tires incl they wear out, oil filled shocks. Etc, etc is the point we don't devote enough attention to in deciding what the best path is.
I was going to comment that the body by itself would cost nearly as much as the price of this car, then you said it. --- That's cool that you are able to drive an R/C in a mall. I imagine if I tried that here, even when there were no people there, I would be threatened with arrest. --- One of our local malls had problems with barn swallow building nests over the entrance, and making a mess. So they put up some plastic owls to ward the little birds away. --- If I had a place like that were I could do some drifting I would tape the tires of one of my desert buggies, like the WLToys 10248, then maybe buy some drift tires & wheels to put on it.
Noice! For me it's a "kids toy" whenever the they have trim like that on the underside. Butt! for being able to try a different r/c vehicle for cheap like this, i'd say it's good enough to try out. then if you're not into it. I'm sure you can always find a good home for it to pass along.

I reall want a good starter but want want better than this. There are the Mad speeds for 160-250 rtr. Apperently they used to be alot cheaper years ago but guess they have went up. Also i think HPI makes some rtr 1/10.
I was drifting my first 4wd rc buggy in the early 1990's...before it was popular in Europe or America. Great winter fun indoor's with bald off road tyre's.

There’s a special tool to put them on and get them off. You need to get a Yokomo YD2 SX3, has boost/ turbo you can program it into the esc

Boil the tires then remove them its the best way to remove them TIP: leave the wheel and tire boiling for 45 seconds then remove them

you need warm water to change tires, take off the wheels and put them in water. after a few minutes you can push them off

Looks good. Plastic rims❔❓. You need a smoother surface for a speed test. Less chance of cracking the rims which seems highly probable. Good review.

Take front plastic tires off and put on the rubber ones on the front for more steering control and leave the back plastic ones on

There's a reason why drifters use proportional steering. You have much better control over the vehicle.

This is toy grade. Get a Sakura D5 and it's electronic around 300. You actually need to assemble the kit.

Heat the tires to get them off the rim. Not something you would know unless someone told you.
You could of just used a hair blower or like a heat gun to get the tires off and to stretch them

For me it's a "kids toy" whenever the they have trim like that on the underside.

I reall want a good starter but want want better than this. There are the Mad speeds for 160-250 rtr. Apperently they used to be alot cheaper years ago but guess they have went up. Also i think HPI makes some rtr 1/10.
