Harloff is one intense guy
+AlphaWolfTV what you his work husband?
LOL OMFG... Im laughing so hard right now....
That moment when he asked if they were alright they said "NO!"
The thing I noticed between Crown and BD is that BD had fun on their finals warm up with a lot less coaching. Crown was a lot more serious and still coaching on music up until the end.
+crazynova23 If you haven't noticed, BD is probably the most relaxed top corp out there.
+Kevin Seidensticker ThatWasPhilosophical
+crazynova23 yeah and Crown sounds ten times better because of it
+crazynova23 Crown shoud've won
+Deacon Ridley Crown isn't better than BD they're pretty much at the same level and if you watch a BD lot they're still being coached after pretty much every time they play the difference is in all the Crown lots you basically just see them do their really small sections with runs to perfect them and their brass captain (I'm assuming) says something after every super small sections they do so it seems like more coaching
5:13 SCV goin ham on The Canyon
1999 was one of their best shows. Im glad someone else heard it
That one trumpet player girl is pretty cute cx
ThatWasSmooth
its awesome how you can hear all the other corps in the back round lol
brassman84 I'll show you a background that's round
I've listen to Devils and Crown back to back over and over again. There is so many soprano weaknesses in the Devils horn line. It is an astonishing thing to me that the horn line of the Devils even got the placement they did.
+Robert Runyon Be specific. So many means nothing
+ThatWasSexyPit well just listen to the BD lot video you posted. At around 4 min. The sopranos are pretty thin and scratchy. Crown has a darker tone up in the stratosphere and it makes loads of difference.
+ThatWasSexyPit On the Lot video for BD the soprano's are just awful at the 4:30 mark forward. They are so scratchy and out of control. It is something that is quite evident. I do not notice any soprano deficiencies here. I have some problem's with the middle horn work here with CC they seem to be a bit early with their phrasing but other than that they are really solid.
+Matthew Berry I find the 7:54 mark forward to be the best work that CC does. It is solid, filled with depth and very expressive. If the competition was solely based on that alone, they would have torn through the competition. I've never heard horn work such as that ever before. The mello's really do some fantastic stuff there. But the true carry of the horn line comes from the baritone's. The baritone's are so solid and show off what it is like to carry the bottom of a phrase. They compliment the soprano's exceptionally well.
I agree. I much prefer CC's more balanced sound where the the upper voices blend into the low brass sound as apposed to BD's sound in which the sopranos are the dominant voice and the rest are there to support that sound (much like a jazz ensemble). I get that this is a viable play style, but to me there is nothing that can compare to the warmth and balance that CC plays with.
does crown march only baritones? I know it's a stupid question to ask but I could've sworn they marched euphs as well.
No. There are 3 baritone parts. 1&2 are on baritones and the 3rd baritone part is played on Euph.
Love the video quality 👌🏽
I LOVE how you can hear Bluecoats around 3:38.
5:48 too.
6:05 onward.
what did they say at the very end?
"We lucky few; We band of brothers."
