I mean to see how much light the 1200D can bring into a midnight outdoor scene just really shows that the possibilities are endless when it's used in easier scenarios, like every kind of indoor space or urban areas... it's very exciting! Thank you for the video!
In my mind, the only reason to shoot night for day in a forest, is to give it a very particular look. Which will look unmotivated. Cant even think of an example where ive seen that. But Night for Night, it would be nice to have a crane that can get the light up really high and light a large area evenly. I've never had the budget for that. But when i do low budget moonlight i make sure i get a really tall stand (Mambo Combo Quad Riser) that can go up 25ft. I would also put a 4x4 styro on top of that tall stand, then bounce my light into that. To create a shorter fall off, Since I cant get my light any higher. It works, but you're still limited by how much background you see that you'd have to light. I also like to place it so its a 3/4 backlight. When i sparked on Locke & Key, they had 3 genie booms, each with 2x 18k HMI's. They would use one at a time depending on the scene they were shooting and what direction they were facing. Each one...140ft in the air. Glad it wasn't me up there! The bucket of the lifts would sway 4-6 ft distances. Yikes.
Fair play guys! Of course it was always going to be a challenge to light up the background but for a few seconds in some of the tighter shots (and if you didn't know it was night time) it really does trick the brain to believe that it is actually daytime. So well done to you all for making the effort for us all to watch and enjoy. You are all very lucky to have what you have created so keep going, keep working hard and you will be successful but somehow I think that by doing what you are all already doing together can be considered a success. Mark from Ireland ... who actually lives in Italy : )
A couple of 8X8 bounces would have helped a lot as well as a bit of light shooting from behind the trees. Fall off and lack of reflective wrapping light is what makes it look artificial but you're comparing it to the sun and clouds which is a giant source so its really hard to artificially mimic that with a couple of lights. Also shooting through a giant silk might help too. Great video though, I loved that you guys got out there and did this as its nice to see what this light could do. Im on the fence about this light. I already have a 600D which is over powered for most stuff. I also have a light canon which Im not a fan of its size as its a pain to haul around. But I do like having the power of the 1200. Great job guys.
JESUS CHRIST!! Thats hell of a bright lamp I have an idea..Can this be used on day time to overpower the sun? I mean be used to fill the harsh shadows caused by the sun? That would be amazing test..To compare it with the sun
It's a little less bright than an Arri M18. If you use it without diffusion then yes, but with diffusion, no. On a cloudy day the M40 will do ( about 2,5 times brighter) On a sunny day if you're not standing next to your textile an M90 will be needed ( 2,5 times brighter than the M40) Ofc it will fill up your shadows a bit and depending of the situation it will do a decent job. For this price point there is no better alternative any way.
yeah would be along the lines of the setup they used on "twister" to get the dark and stormy skies. overlight everyone so they could stop back down. a lot of those scenes in the truck I remember the actors saying how hot they were because the scenes were so bright and so much power.
Am here since your GH4 videos like the one you used as an example in this vid. I started watching you when I decided to quit my job and go full-time freelance videographer. (2017) Starting with the (basically) manual GH4 taught me a lot of lessons in camera operating (most non-cinema camera's are so advanced and automated nowadays) All I hear from people starting today is .. what is the best autofocusing camera etc etc . I am still grateful for all your tips as it helped me so much in my startup! ( and still this very day) . I know you went to some tough times and hardship... So it sincerely pleases me to still see you out there doing your thing(s) with so much passion and devotion. Keep up the good stuff Andy! Much love from the Netherlands! Cheers Nonye
Crazy. I think a soft modifier would have helped to spread out the light a bit and make it more natural, of course you would lose some light. But thats the game of lighting.
Would be fun to see the 1200D positioned as far as possible and use the A7S3 and Laowa 35mm f/0.95 lens. Or would at that point the moon become bright enough 🤣
That is just crazy-bright. Love the van as well. I got a 200D for christmas. I think that is very bright. Would love to compare it to this one. Or if you have both in a video, could you test them side-by-side so we could see?
You should unroll all the way your electric winder, there's a huge exchange of electrons passing through the rolled cable causing heat, in the long term it will damage your cable and even melt it completely
Really cool. I think what's missing for it to truly look like daylight is that the shadows would have a blue cast from the sky in a sunny day instead of being desaturated. Maybe fixable with color grading?
I like the drone footage with long shadows, surely good photography and cinema photography is about light and dark, shadows add atmosphere. As a daylight bulb I wasn't convinced. Embrace the shadows dudes like in The Shining ;) Good vid and lamp, any colour gels...
all the forest creatures were like "the aliens have arrived! run!!" I loved the part about "nothing can brighten your life as much as playing in the forest with your friends". this is why you guys are successful. never lose your frame of reference.
What if you could have so much light coming from a drone designed to be a flying light source? I mean the huge ones used to carry cinema cameras take thousands of watts to fly, so it shouldn't be too hard on the batteries to have an extra 1200w as a load. The airflow from propellers can cool the LED pretty well so the body can definitely be made thinner and lighter. If it flies for 5-10 minutes per battery with lights on, that is good enough for fake moonlight and sunlight because how high they can fly. p.s. I know helicopters have search lights, but they are expensive to operate and really noisy, while huge drones will be quiet 100meters away unless they are directly overhead.
you'd need a massive drone and you've be constantly landing and taking off to change batteries. Might as well just invest in a stand that can get you high enough.
In the daytime sky itself should be a much brighter as you said, but in addition to that it would create bluish soft ambient light from the top, and you are unfortunately missing that effect here :) The lamp is super cool tho. Thanks for the video and keep up the good work, cheers from Finland!
Have you guys got any bts or tutorials from the footage you showed earlier of lighting the firelight scene with the 600ds and 300ds. I’m trying to do the exact thing at the moment.
Hey yall im a bit confused about the ecoflow batteries. Can you power a 1200d pro with a ECOFLOW BATTERY? i have a desert shoot this weeek and have no idea how i will power my lights lol or should i go 600d? Shooting in day but also evening on sony and red
My next step to power up this kind of unit in this conditions is to buy the Kia EV6 and get right from the battery car a huge power of 70+Kw with a mximum output of 3200W :-)
Wouldn't (and can you?) add a warming type filter to give the effect of sunlight? The light while powerful still had an artificial look because it didn't have that golden color that sunlight would give.
It's pity your channel turns out to advertisement shitty :( When there was some great small video production even with worse equipment it happen to me much more interesting. I'll give you time and then I'll check out :(

Thank you for the video!
I remember all of these old videos. This one is also very magical! ❤️

So good thanks ! I was just thinking about replacing HMIs !

This video was a lot of fun 🙂
So jealous you got one early! We want to get one of these to add to our production and rental inventory. Amazing, amazing light!

BEST 1200D "review" video I have seen. Chapeaux
Would be fun to see the 1200D positioned as far as possible and use the A7S3 and Laowa 35mm f/0.95 lens. Or would at that point the moon become bright enough 🤣
Really great way to show the power of a lamp like this :)
The 1200D on a big drone would be cool
Iam from India your video very helpful thanks you for all team members ❤❤❤
So glad I found your channel. Love this. Thank you!
I could see a dozen different ways to use this at least. Very realistic use of this lamp.
This is one of my favorite channels.
wasn't ready for that little comment bit about brightening up your life
Thank you for this video!
Greetings from Germany :)
That is one hell of a light
This is one bright light :D.
Unfortunately in my country price is ridiculous ...
That is just crazy-bright. Love the van as well. I got a 200D for christmas. I think that is very bright. Would love to compare it to this one. Or if you have both in a video, could you test them side-by-side so we could see?

Very creative and professional as always 👏🏿
Great effort topped with a beautiful message ❤️❤️😍😍😍

Stunning light 💡
Thank you for this video. Very handy 👌😊

Wow, this is really cool. Thanks for sharing 😁
Wonderful, as always. Thanks so much.
Wickedly power lamp!! Great review
Wow i love this
make a video about the most cinematic Red you can achieve, A Red Room scene or something would be great
This is fantastic
Awesome lamp.
Is it possible to change the temp/color of this light?
All the animals in the forest: "Hey we're tryin to sleep here, pal!"
that was unneccessary but a lot of fun :D

Greeat content guys!
he is a giant!!!
great vid! light looks crazy big haha
love the video.
We should collab! If you guys have some spare time in between clients, bring the lights and let`s go night death diving.
,,,,,a cool video keep up the great content.. Thank you….
Nice video! Where did you get the transsparent bukhead for your van?
Have you guys got any bts or tutorials from the footage you showed earlier of lighting the firelight scene with the 600ds and 300ds. I’m trying to do the exact thing at the moment.
god damnnn thats so nice
I bet if anyone passed by this forest at that time they would think there was a freaking UFO up there 😂😂😂
Imagine how much brighter that could be with a fresnel
Why don't you guys build a mount on top of the van to make the light go way up. If it's properly fixed on the roof then you can take it pretty high.
Maybe a BYD truck will help you guys out. The battery inside the EV can work as a regular battery
Woow! Its strong.😵
love my gh6
great
Superb
couple shots did look like daytime. perhaps a better grade could've made it sweet! Love your videos guys, keep up the good work!
Could you name those music tracks you used in this film ? With credits ? How many tracks you used ? Thank you
I'm Black kleaf best. Perfect filmeking, i'm living Anse-à-Galets(Haïti)
Hey
It was amazing
Who can fined different between neutral light and 1200D
Nobody!
🔥🔥🔥
what brand and model is the battery power station?
How much Light do you Want?
YES!
Love this channel!!!!
Did you guys get to keep it?
10:20 lol nice!
Guys, the good old day for night times are gone. Night for day is the future!
Look up the Simpsons clip where they turn the lights on at night to force daytime all the time 😂
Hey yall im a bit confused about the ecoflow batteries. Can you power a 1200d pro with a ECOFLOW BATTERY? i have a desert shoot this weeek and have no idea how i will power my lights lol or should i go 600d? Shooting in day but also evening on sony and red
I dont need Aputure 1200D Pro, but i want one

Imagine slapping an f10 fernel on top of 1200d 🤯 it would 3x the output
every demon, every animal on that forest be like : DA HELL IT'S ALREADY NOON??????????
^^
14:10 and then all the beers atacks
It's just a bit less bright than smaller HMIs
I read 12000D and I was really confused
Hey, Arri makes 12K HMIs. It's not outlandish to have a 12K LED
Would you still recommend wearing gloves to protect your hands from the heat of the LED?
so what happens if you shine it into your eyes?
It was a little too cool to imitate sun maybe the grade a little waer
bro holding sun in his hands
How did you avoid getting snow onto the lens?
I think it’s weather sealed
Buy a lamp that lights up the sky hahaha
You should unreel your reels completely before plug in 1200W source.
Wouldn't (and can you?) add a warming type filter to give the effect of sunlight? The light while powerful still had an artificial look because it didn't have that golden color that sunlight would give.
🤩 WTF 😳
1 more thing its weather proof.
why do you want to create day in night if you still don't want to put the sky in the frame? why don't you film during the day? thanks.
but,, is this light really meant for such bad weather conditions? It doesnt look like it..
In Norway, this is good weather condition. But yes, it can handle rain :)
3100€
Fake time is Real time
oh please rent a lift
Sjukt
poor animals lol
It's pity your channel turns out to advertisement shitty :( When there was some great small video production even with worse equipment it happen to me much more interesting. I'll give you time and then I'll check out :(
In summary: Can you light up a whole forest with one light? No, but no one needs to do that anyways. Goodbye.
Lies, this is done all the time on large sets to create moonlight look over large areas in wides
I thought you were creating moonlight? Just hacking around in the forest. What a waste of my time.
