Places in the Heart was released during my junior year in High school, but I did not watch it until the early 1990's on VHS. It is a truly remarkable movie that must be seen. It amazing that some of the original structures are still standing like the Spalding home considering that they were most likely already old when the movie was filmed. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
Totally awesome video! My mom took me to see this when I was eight years old. I'm from Arlington, Texas, so I'm very familiar with Texas scenery and textures...this movie captures that very well. I think the ending is the most profound ending of any film ever. Thanks for making tis video. It was a fun watch.
What a great tour!! Did you love that movie just as much as I did? How about that ending??? I've never seen one quite like it. I would have liked to have seen the church, though...
So nice of you to do this..i remember that film fondly especially the opening hymm/scene and ending..you made my evening bringing back scenes from a movie i loved so much..THANK YOU!!
Pretty cool. A lot of stuff still looks a lot the same. I haven't seen this movie in years, but it's a great one. I wasn't expecting to come across a location video for it.;
One of my favorite all-time movies, thanks for the tour. My wife and I actually just watched the movie again, and I found your video while searching for the house where Wayne and Viola were having their affair. There was some large lettering on one side but I couldn't read it. I was just curious what it said.
Thanks for visiting my town. My friend Robert Condor and Wess Winn were also in the movie...Did you remember them they were about your age when you were a stand in..
It would help if you write down the title of the movie. I actually live here now and I love my town. There's nothing much to do her but eat 😅 or go to the lake.
I believe the Chautauqua auditorium was used in a scene. The tornado destruction was a set put up at the end of Marvin Ave. I was living there at the time, saw Sally Field pumping her own gas at the gas station.
This was interesting. Laura Spalding Aka Edna was my grandmothers aunt. She lived with her. Maybe you should find the actual home etc... where they lived. That would be Incas well.
I’d love to go check out that house!! I’m filming a music video in town this weekend. I wonder if the owners would let us film the outside of the house :)
Hi! I currently live in Waxahachie. The courthouse was filmed twice last year for the Yellowstone series.

Good video. I grew up in Rocket and went to Red Oak HS. I remember watching the film the storm scene. So neat!

I signed up to be an EXTRA at the Brookside Inn but never got called. I do remember a local man named Horace Hawkins who was in a couple of scenes.
Best one yet, good memories

They don’t sound familiar. Waxahachie is a great town with some great history.

You can go down to the city cemetery and see all these names of the actual people on tombstones.
