    As a perpetually thrilled owner of a 24 cosmic yellow Striple the honeymoon phase won't go away. Riding in a flood? Yes, only a foot of water but the streets were flooded? Still a blast. Getting blasted by highway winds? A blast. Cruising through a neighborhood? You know my answer. Road trips? Absolutely. Fifth bike I've owned and I'm not sure how many I've ridden but the closest to pure joy another bike has given me was my Vitpilen 701.
    As for lessons on the road, I learned that a sports naked bike isn't a bad option for an adventure bike. Also, your Scrambler looks stunning!

    I have a Trident 660 and plan on getting the 765 RS as well in a year or so.
    My lesson on the road is watch out for the crosswalk paint at intersections. It's a lot more slick than you think. Even when it's dry. Had a bit of a scare and thankfully didn't dump the bike.
    Congrats on two beautiful machines!

    You're going to love the XC. Ive had mine for almost 4 years now. Its a 2019 with 28k miles. No problems. I do the oil changes every 5k miles. I got mine to replace my t120 and KLR. I use mine as a cruiser more than anything but i like the option to be able to do light offroading when i go hunting and camping. The street triple is a great usable bike. Nobody really needs a speed triple because there is nowhere to really use it. I rented a 765rs on a business trip a couple years ago and it was great getting in and out of traffic. Its a sport bike without the backaches. Yall have fun and stay safe.🍻

    • @justinfrombugzy
      @justinfrombugzy Месяц назад +1

      This is such a good bit of wisdom to anyone looking to get into riding because you can "save" so much on the RIGHT vintage bike, but the opportunity to get up and go on a modern motorcycle is what really opens your eyes to what motorcycle riding can be ❤

    What a great choice, going with Triumphs! (I picked up my third Triumph last Spring. It's a 2010 Triumph Speed Triple 1050. And I love it!)
    What I learned riding: When taking a turn at an intersection, just follow the rules of the road. There are times when a driver, trying to be courteous, will wave you on, even though it's not your turn. It's a bad idea.

    • @justinfrombugzy
      @justinfrombugzy Месяц назад +1

      100% agree with this statement. I couple this idea with a healthy dose of mistrust for everyone on the road and I go when I go based on what I know is the rule of the road because you NEVER KNOW who is impatiently itching to pass the person letting you take that left through the intersection

    • @donaldmathieu8804
      @donaldmathieu8804 Месяц назад +1

      @@justinfrombugzy That's exactly what happened to me! I was leaving work, on mt 2009 Triumph Tiger 1050. I came to a stop the end of the road, waiting to take a left onto a major road. A car was on the main road, waiting for opposing traffic to pass. Once he was clear to take his left onto my road, he waves at me to go first, and take my left. He had four cars in back of him, on the single lane road. So I take my left, and end up with a car aiming right for me. Another car went in the bike lane, around the line of cares, passing them on the right. I gunned the bike, and was doing 70 mph instantly down the road.

    • @justinfrombugzy
      @justinfrombugzy Месяц назад

      I was concerned initially about the 765 at highway speeds, thinking maybe a little more displacement in something like an MT09 would be better suited for power on the interstate, but the Triple has proven that it's just as happy in the twisties as it is at 75 with steady throttle. I don't know if it's possible, but if you were in the market for a newer bike with some more oomph then the Speed 900 is a really nice bike with tons of grunt to spare at highway speeds and it has the hawt pull of a parallel twin and retains the classic cruiser looks

    Buzzing for you! Triumphs are great bikes and I imagined you'd head towards them as they are a little special. My story would be the time i came off on lessons. I took a wrong turn ended up on a large roundabout. my nerves shot through the roof and I target fixated on the curb because the bike wasn't handling like i wanted it to. Thankfully I managed to stop before i hit the curb but the bike had attitude and threw me on my side into the grass. my take-away from that is: don't ride when you're nervous. :)

    The lesson I always return to is to trust your instincts and never assume you know what other cars are doing on the road. So ride defensively, unless you are trying to avoid a driver under the influence, or texting! Then try to create a safe enough distance away from them. As a fellow Triumph owner, I know that keychain would look good on my Tiger ;)

    I think one of the biggest lesson I've learned while on the road is always be learning. I had written a big long dumb comment about shifting weight in turns, but at the end I realized it was just part of the process of learning how to ride better. So that's my lesson. Always be learning about the bike, your abilities, and how changing things will affect all of that. That also means more riding and more playing. So it's fun too.
    I also wanted to comment that I had a good feeling about the Bonneville platform, for you. My T120 really changed my perspective on a lot of things, and they're really respected in the entire motorcycle culture because of how versatile and still powerful they are. Good choice.

    • @justinfrombugzy

    • @justinfrombugzy
      @justinfrombugzy Месяц назад +1

      I've yet to try this Triple with traction control off, which has proven to be a very good idea because even with "wheelie control" engaged, this thing reallllly wants to lift the front wheel when you're getting into the throttle in sport mode 😅 A goal of mine is to learn how to wheelie, though, so maybe that will happen in a few months lol

      I'd be the one to lose my bag at night on a winding road and get to the destination with no clean underwear ☠️

    🙈Nooooo You guys know how I feel and won’t go into it here. I do wish you and Justin the best of luck 🍀with the new bikes. I hope Justin has a good 👍 chiropractor after a long ride.😂
    I still think free is better 😎Dave H

      Bugzy 🌞If I watched for the motorcycles you both would be riding Harley’s Lol 😂. It’s you and Justin is the reason I watch. I don’t dislike the Triumphs they just aren’t my style.

      Nothing quite like that sound from idle to full throttle and back down again -- it's a completely different experience on the Iron than the Triple, and I love them both equally

      I want to lose😂Don’t use to much rear brake on a wet road, rear end will go out of control. 😎Dave H

    I Wanna Win👋 Around a corner hit gravel going down but saved it. Scared the piss out of me so i stopped at a parking lot, collected thoughts, got some perspective and moved on.
    Awesome bikes- great choice for both of you

      Remembering to take a moment and b r e a t h e after a close call, mistake, or drop is crucial for keeping your head on straight to prevent going down twice in the same ride -- glad to hear you were OK and able to continue on the ride 🙌

    Keeping the old bikes?

      @justinfrombugzy Месяц назад +1

      Forever. We both built these up and restored them as project bikes with the help of my dad, so very high sentimental calue for both or us.

      Yeah it was kinda nice, I was surprised we had it pretty much all to ourselves. We've gone back there since to practice slow speed maneuvers and stuff.
