Good morning. Thanks for sharing good video, something to look out for in my build.
I think P-traps should be in the pipework even if one is built into the toilet. Stop the buggers before they get to the house.

I am glad that these plumbing mishaps can help others. Very disappointing from such a large and successful builder that I chose. Thanks for watching!

    Hey Greg,
I finally get to hear the story. Now, I need to understand what I need to do. Couple questions: Are there p-traps on the shower drains, either under the floor, or prior to the city sewer/septic tank? Are the no flanges for the toilets' wax rings to seal or are they sealed to the tile floor? I will be sending a link to this video to my contractor. I don't think they need to hear it in Thai to understand the problem, or the solution. Thanks for the video.

Thanks Kenny. I will assume that no p-traps are in the shower drains, or anywhere for that matter. The one Cotto flange that I did have was too a bit too large to fit in the pipe. You can see that flange in the video at the 2:13 mark. Given that is a very large and successful builder in the Issan area, it was very disappointing that some fundamentals are left out. I also intend to pass this video around to anyone I see building a home here.

I think you're missing P-traps in your drains. They prevent the back-flow of gasses and flies. Hope your trilogy does not turn into an epic saga. 🤣 thanks for sharing your daily life.

The flies would have driven me crazy. I just paid about $150 for a very ordinary toilet with no tank. Not a bad deal you found.

Glad you got it sorted! Sounds like they may have missed the water traps/P-traps in the floor drains, they basically do not add them unless you ask/insist...

Thanks. The P traps are built into the toilets.

I’ve had flies appear from floor drains, shower drains and bathroom basins in the past - upon consulting the font of all knowledge (Gertie Google), I learnt that they were drain flies (Psychodidae) and after doing further research it appears the best treatment is boiling water.
When needed, I now put a full kettle (about 1.7 litres) of absolutely boiling water down the drain and it works a treat. They occasionally return, and when this happens I simply use the boiling water again.
How you would do this with a toilet I don’t know, but for the floor, basin and shower drains, it would most likely work very well.
    Best of luck!
