For those wondering why they should buy an Xbox One S instead of just waiting for Project Scorpio, well let me brake it down to you: Not everyone has a 4k TV, some people dont even have HD tvs and are playing on older tv's. Those people wouldnt benefit much from Project Scorpio. Another thing is how much do you think its gonna cost? I would not be surprised because of the hardware talked about, that it would be about $700 or so at a minimum, specially if it comes bundled with an Oculus rift type VR device dont be surprised if its even more than that, so not everyone has the money for that. Its not going to be like jumping from the xbox to the xbox 360 where it was a totally new experience and had to buy a new console with new games and peripherals. Project scorpio would be more powerful hardware and i could imagine the games being the same other than the Scorpio npossibly downloading a bigger file when first installing the game to have the 4k graphics. Why buy an Xbox One S? well this nex Xbox one s will have an UHD Blu-ray drive, which is $300- $400 if you were to buy a stand alone player, so thats a plus!

Did you add HDMI CEC? Would've been a good opportunity to do so, but I kinda doubt it. The PS4 is actually more integrated into my setup because it has CEC. PLEASE at least add CEC to Scorpio.

it bugs me that they slowly removed the LED's from the controller which were originally used with Kinect to auto recognize who was holding the controller. That was a feature, and it was removed without notice and without reason. I realize they decided to kill the kinect without actually saying they were - but I can't imagine that's a huge cost to keep including.
Guys i have a problem. I've been wanting a xbox one S for a while but one thing that bugs me is the HDR stuff. Do I need a HDR TV in order to see the difference like phill said or do I just buy it and se the difference without a HDR TV? all answers are welcome, thanks
If you don't have an HDR compliant set you will not be able to take advantage of the feature sir. It's like watching a 4K Blu-ray on a 1080p tv. Will it look good yes, will you see it after down scaling? No.
If the Scorpio is 4K supported and like $499 then I'm not gonna buy. Just buying a console for more pixels I feel isn't worth it. Plus I don't think I'll be experience VR anytime soon. One s probably my option.

As Phil said, devs can leverage the console's power as they see fit. Some will use it to achieve 4K, and others, as I would prefer, will use it to allow larger worlds, more detailed textures and effects, longer draw distances, and smoother framerates in 1080p.
Please use GDDR5X RAM instead of the standard GDDR5 RAM for the Xbox Scorpio. Please build it for the future I have already preordered it...if not using GDDR5X, please explain why. Thank you :)
The console will have 12GB's of GDDR5 ram anything else is overkill due to them sticking with a APU single chip system with unified ram and a beefy GPU. The CPU is the bottleneck of they utilize the same jaguar cpu or even if they use the new Zen cpu from AMD.

Now hopefully they learn from their mistakes for their next console. No outdated hardware, make the size smaller and less bulkier, put the PSU in the INSIDE of the console like they did here. This shows that Xbox has learned from their mistakes, if not a little too late.

Xbox is saved from that disastrous reveal 3 years ago. Well done. But if what they say is true and all future games will release on the original Xbox One, I think I'll stick with that until they stop doing that. Buying a 4k TV and a Scorpio is not something I'm prepared to to just to get higher performance from games I can still enjoy on my current console. Fully happy for anyone else to go and do so though.

its so transparently clear that xbox is saying that they don't care which platform you have, they aren't giving you any real incentives to upgrade. they don't even care about the sales of there consoles. what matters to them is that you are buying there games, doesn't matter where you buy it as long as you buy it through them. x360, xone family, and windows 10 as long as your buying content from one of those platforms it doesn't matter which one you have. as a console gamer i am used to exclusives giving me a reason to upgrade in the first place. if all you have is incremintal upgrades then there is no reason to upgrade at all. what am i going to pay 500-600 dollars on a scorpio just to play in 4k? of course not when i can play the same exact games on windows 10 or xbox one (original) that i already have! and play it in hd at that! hell upgrade your pc and you can already play in 4k. clearly they want to be like IPHONE. if you want people to buy a new platform for 400-600 you have to give them more reason than "you can play in 4k!"
The only reason Microsoft wrote down some #'s on some paper and showed a rendering of non-existent hardware was because they were expecting Sony to announce a slim PS4 and VR. So when they knew it would be an upgraded console they were like uhmm yes we will have the most powerful console ever well in a year or so don't buy a Neo or at least hesitate we weren't ready! Either Way I have an Xbox one and ps4 so hopefully the Scorpio isn't just hype because I can wait a year not buying an S or Neo.
I must admit i like this guy. To me he looks like the typical american manager who made the american dream come true. What i am now really interested in is the specs of the PS4 neo. And of course the price. I don't own a console but i will buy one in the next two months. Perhaps i buy a PS4 now and a SCorpio later? Or now a XB S and later the PS4 Neo? I don't know what to do. :)

No matter how they word it, I just can't see the point in buying an S now when they've just announced that there is a new box in the works.
It''d be like Apple coming out and saying "hey, even though we just announced this new iPad Pro, we just want to leave you with a quick tease for next year's more powerful iPad."
Sure, we all know iPad revisions are coming, but there's a reason they don't announce new hardware only to further announce the next hardware at the same time.

yes, but your tv will limit the resolution that you see.
As Phil said, devs can leverage the console's power as they see fit. Some will use it to achieve 4K, and others, as I would prefer, will use it to allow larger worlds, more detailed textures and effects, longer draw distances, and smoother framerates in 1080p.

The console will have 12GB's of GDDR5 ram anything else is overkill due to them sticking with a APU single chip system with unified ram and a beefy GPU. The CPU is the bottleneck of they utilize the same jaguar cpu or even if they use the new Zen cpu from AMD.

Now hopefully they learn from their mistakes for their next console. No outdated hardware, make the size smaller and less bulkier, put the PSU in the INSIDE of the console like they did here. This shows that Xbox has learned from their mistakes, if not a little too late.
I see where this is going it's like for example Samsung they have high end televisions,phones to low end so it's up the consumer. So having a low to high end xbox is actually a pretty good idea.
I think Scorpio is a bad idea. Consoles should stay simple and a stable platform for a longer period. I don't want them to become a steam box or a pc.

Xbox is saved from that disastrous reveal 3 years ago. Well done. But if what they say is true and all future games will release on the original Xbox One, I think I'll stick with that until they stop doing that. Buying a 4k TV and a Scorpio is not something I'm prepared to to just to get higher performance from games I can still enjoy on my current console. Fully happy for anyone else to go and do so though.

its so transparently clear that xbox is saying that they don't care which platform you have, they aren't giving you any real incentives to upgrade. they don't even care about the sales of there consoles. what matters to them is that you are buying there games, doesn't matter where you buy it as long as you buy it through them. x360, xone family, and windows 10 as long as your buying content from one of those platforms it doesn't matter which one you have. as a console gamer i am used to exclusives giving me a reason to upgrade in the first place. if all you have is incremintal upgrades then there is no reason to upgrade at all. what am i going to pay 500-600 dollars on a scorpio just to play in 4k? of course not when i can play the same exact games on windows 10 or xbox one (original) that i already have! and play it in hd at that! hell upgrade your pc and you can already play in 4k. clearly they want to be like IPHONE. if you want people to buy a new platform for 400-600 you have to give them more reason than "you can play in 4k!"
The only reason Microsoft wrote down some #'s on some paper and showed a rendering of non-existent hardware was because they were expecting Sony to announce a slim PS4 and VR. So when they knew it would be an upgraded console they were like uhmm yes we will have the most powerful console ever well in a year or so don't buy a Neo or at least hesitate we weren't ready! Either Way I have an Xbox one and ps4 so hopefully the Scorpio isn't just hype because I can wait a year not buying an S or Neo.
