You shouldn't just stick the RAM where the board manufacturer recommends. They do not know your particular RAM's needs and feelings. Your super-fast RAM will let you know how it chooses to identify itself, in this case the RAM obviously self-identifies as single channel, and feels threatened if inserted too close to the CPU as CPUs have been known to gang-stalk RAM sticks in the past. To insert it any other way would be disrespectful to the RAM, and by all means a microaggression which further perpetuates the RAM patriarchy and the associated oppression that it brings.
Hands down some of the funniest ish I have ever read 😂😂
It doesn't always work out sadly. When I was building my PC the ram identified itself as a gpu, my sexist motherboard didnt let me plug in the ram though so I had to throw it away.
Brilliant

You guys are so whipped. I have my ram make me a sandwich.

I love youtube comments.
See really it's just a $1000 PC but they spent another $1000 on thermal paste
Tommy Platter I legit walk all around on carpet and back to my computer when I’m working on it and I just rub my hand over the case or a chair leg that’s metal and this guys freaking out with his bracelet
No, it's a $1000 PC, but they destroyed the first one.
Brandon Inkel and it's not even a proper anti static bracelet
because "much" helps much.
I hope they didn't mix AS or other metal based paste with something else. You risk vastly accelerating oxidizing metal based paste with certain non metal based pastes. Kinda utterly ruining the reason to use metal based paste.
Now I kinda want to see that guy delid his super special ultra exclusive CPU and put liquid metal on it XD
I strongly suspect this guy would use a CD tray as a cup holder
Wait...
Those are CD trays?
lena pistone I mean it makes sense
and here ithought they were just plastic thingies so there isnt an empty space in the pc case on the front
Based on his idea of tweezers you're probably not wrong.
25yrs of building custom pcs and I've been doing it all wrong. For a start I didn't know I needed a "breast cancer awareness" wrist band, and it just got more depressing from there.
@Wade
Just make sure the PSU is blowing the hot air inside the case.
You want to to keep the electronic components hot for best performance.
@@bestdjaf7499 damn thats hot and seski
@Wade I've never seen a pro use an anti-static wristband at all. It's as simple as holding one hand onto the metal case as well as not building your PC in a carpeted room.
I always thought that a pea side of thermal paste was enough, now I learned that I should soak my cpu in thermal paste
Wade problem is the guy who made the video didn’t learn anything, to this day he claims he did nothing wrong and the PC worked so that’s all that matters. I would like to see an update on that Pc to see if power supply died from over heating

I've always found it's better to install your CPU from high orbit to maximize the damage to your pins when you drop it.
need to maximise the pin-angle for extra LEAN XD
😂😂😂
"Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."
-The Verge, probably.
Screw a nuke, just blow up the fucking planet with guys like this walking around just makes the world dumber everyday
The insulating pads make sure that it doesn't short circuit against the case.
2 seconds later...
Make sure the power supply is jammed right up against the case.
Lol I was about to point that out too
dont you screw it in?
i have a Azza hurrican case that has 8 in case fans
its so loud and its like a 5 year old cyberpower build im a secondhand owner
hooray for having to switch to windows 10
Also, make sure you jam it in with the fan facing the back plate of the motherboard. Wouldn't want it getting anything other than the finest flow restrictions and south bridge heat.
@@VincentGonzalezVeg Research getting to the motherboards UEFI screen from booting up your computer. From the UEFI screen you can adjust your fan speed, so that when your PC is idling at the desktop it'll be quiet, but having it ramp up the fan rpm when playing a demanding game. If you use your gpu's firmware that come with downloading it's drivers(that you should keep up to date) you can monitor the Temps in your gpu, so you can see if it's too hot or not and adjust your in-game graphics settings. You should avoid Temps over 90°C.

Personally, they could have gone without the wires. They could have just poured in 5 litres of water into the sealed up case, and because water conducts electricity it's a natural, free wire.
This is verge logic
It'd be whack if someone developed a computer to work that way tbh.
You also wouldn't need the cooling fans
They would manage to use distilled water
Put some fishes in there too, just to make the pc feel more alive 😂😂
🤣😂😭
25:22 "So right now I'm playing league of legends, It's one of my favourite games"
As a league player I would like to point out:
You don't (can't) spam buttons. You have four abilities, meaning the player would usually keep 3-4 fingers on the qwe, qwer or 1234 keys, instead of holding his entire hand up and only pressing 1.
Ignoring the fact he's playing yasuo in the bot lane, he clearly doesn't understand how to use abilities. this can be seen from how during the recording you can clearly see that he was trying to spam a ability judging from the notice prompt above his ability UI that repeated "the ability is not ready yet!" and "you cannot cast that right now!". Yet he continued to spam the same goddamn key. Nope im out.
Pause the video, he is playing against a bot. Losing. his favorite game. I can't imagine how many hours it took them to record this and cut/edit out the parts where he wa sweating all over the place.
or ignore it that he is bragging about 120fps while LoL literally can play on a 1 core CPU with a motherboard built-in GPU and 4gb of RAM XD
Yeah I was like what are you doing, spaming the mastery 7 on Yasuo, jesus, four abilities my guy, four buttons QWER, I don't know maybe some new challenger technique where you usse all four abilities with one button. Plus everybody knows that you can play League on a fuking toaster laptop the only issue would be your wifi and the roit servers and the client, so basically those games have proven shit
I mean that's a normal yasuo player in bronze V
Yeah. This guy doesn’t play League. He doesn’t play games period…
Other things that went horribly wrong:
1. He didn't attach the fans to the radiator. You can clearly see one of them is being used as an exhaust fan for the case.
2. He didn't use his "tweezers" to manage the cables.
3. He didn't use the Allen wrench for anything. Not that he needed to, but he did say it was absolutely essential.
4. Arma 3 runs at 70-80fps on 1080p on highest settings on my GTX960. It's not anything that would tax that gfx card.
5. He's playing against bots in LoL and thinks he's cool. In reality, he's getting wrecked by bots.
6. 300 fps on LoL? Well, that's nice, but I bet he's only got a 60Hz monitor.
7. THE RADIATOR HAS NO FANS!
If it is the monitor I think it is (samsung C27FG70... or something similar) it has 144hz
Better yet he says League runs as '300fps' while at the top right of the league window you can see he's manually limited it to 120fps anyways lol
If you look at their publicity shot at 31:37, someone eventually attached 2 fans to the underside of the radiator. However, going by the expertise embodied in the build, I'd wager they're in pull instead of push.
is this the real life
is this just fantasy
8. He put the PSU in BACKWARDS. The fan is facing inwards and not facing down where the exhaust would be channeling out the hot air so it's just recycling the hot air in there.
The best part and that NOBODY has pointed out yet is that THAT "anti static wristband" is just a regular latex band like those "fight cancer" bands that came with the motherboard as free merch and this guy was stupid enough to think it was an anti static band
That was probably one of the funniest parts.
yeah he is that stupid. You can tell it by his work on that build.
Han Lockhart
Confirmed. He's THAT stupid. Doesn't even get the concept of static, where it is, why it's bad, etc.
And it's super laughable, "all out" is 2 grand. Lol my video card alone would be 2 grand. Pretty sure my memory would be close to a grand.
It's wrong. It's a cancer band.
I mean... it TECHNICALLY is a anti-static wristband... in that it, itself is resistant to static... But not in the sense that it would protect you from static.
Gundam was out here showing us joe exotic before he was even big
My thoughts exactly.
This guy clearly went into a shop and said: "I want to build a gaming pc."
The store owner then said: "Sir, this is a fishmongers."
Apparently, Linus tech tips staged an intervention for the poor idiot about 5 months ago. 😂
That anti-static band moment made be cringe so hard
edit: holy shit it got so much worse
dont you know it's one of those wirelless anti static bands XD. When you have it in your hand, it zaps all that static into the components and to the ground, no more worrying about static band wires getting in your way.
tbh, this person in the video shouldnt be allowed near PC parts
He not fighting static, he fighting cancer.

I cringed at how he was holding that GPU, hes lucky he didnt short the damn thing.
Jiepers for me halps best when I ground my toe into the socket and after that install my cpu.
But it aligned his chi to the computer's chi, thereby making the electrons run so much faster. Then he forgot and put the computer facing north, which completely violated tech fenging shway.
It's wireless! This is why he got a board with wifi and bluetooth
the verge is 99% rich people who own MACs and other best buy pre-builts. it's not surprising they wouldn't know how to build a PC.

NO! Do NOT "carefully" lean the CPU down onto the motherboard! If you aligned it correctly the CPU will just fall into place. If you haven't, leaning down on it "carefully" will just bend the damn pins.
And that's the most disastrous thing someone can do!
This guy is dim.
lol
I know!!! I was yelling at the screen!!! "Stoooooooop!"
RLODJOHN yeah, though I'm not quite decided on whether it is more disastrous to bend the pins on an LGA motherboard or a PGA CPU.
I also liked how he touched the heatspreader. a lil skin grease does wonders for cooling I guess....

Basically, you need to put twice the amount of ohms on your main wire for maximum amperience. Also add an extra ground wire for double safety.
He didn't know it was for vibration damping not insulation. I suppose he would have been smarter if he'd read the manuals but that would imply he could read.
I bet there's thermal paste all over the place.
The cpu's Temps are 15° hotter because of so much thermal paste.
I bet there's thermal paste in his butt crack 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@mojondro ooh dude don't even joke about that , getting thermal paste between your crack is the worst !!
@@imleonwhoru or thermal paste and a bounty paper towels 😂😂😂😂
It gets everywhere 🙄
There are so many wrongs with this build that's baffling.
1. He didn't make sure there weren't any bent pins on the motherboard. That's the first thing to do before seating the CPU.
2. When correctly aligned, the CPU just falls into place. No more adjustments needed, or chances are that further adjustment would bend pins.
3. Preapplied thermal paste/pads on AIOs is usually fine. No more paste needed.
4. Going overboard with the thermal paste is not going to impact performance, but it's a waste anyway.
5. The NVMe SSD placement will impact performance, because the closer the slot is, the more bandwidth it'll get. It's not about aesthetics.
6. The AIO mounting orientation is wrong. The pump must always be on the lowest point of the loop for durability. Besides, the tubes are pressing to the back of the graphics card, causing GPU sag, and that could ultimately kill the card.
7. I wonder how he screwed the fans to the radiator, if he used the long screws to seat the radiator, and he wasn't pressing the fans with his hands against the radiator while installing it.
8. The only case when the power supply is installed before plugging the cables is when the PSU is non-modular. But that PSU was fully modular, so...
9. Speaking about PSUs, he said that he needed the headroom for RT cards. The RTX 2080 Ti draws 250 -260 W, the same as the GTX 1080 Ti. The recommended PSU for those cards is 750 W. Moreover, the RTX 4080, which is way more powerful than the 2080 Ti, has the same PSU requirements. So, a 850 W PSU is a waste of money.
10. The case had ample space for cable management, but he didn't even bother to do it. Admittedly, this is the most tedious part of building a PC.
11. The Intel Core i7-8700K is a 95 W CPU. An AIO is utterly wasteful. A decent air cooler makes more sense, because it's easier to install, it's cheaper and it requires less maintenance.
12. Indeed, 2666 MHz isn't fast, but it was the fastest speed that specific CPU's memory controller supported, so it was impossible to use faster RAM, but the RAM placement is wrong. For dual channel, the second and last slots going from the CPU socket are the correct ones. This is especially important for Ryzen CPUs, because they are very sensitive to memory bandwidth.
13. The order of installation is all over the place. Building a PC in the order shown in the video is actually very problematic for troubleshooting, because it'd mean to disassemble the whole PC in case something goes wrong. Besides, it's pretty inconvenient for the installation of key parts, like the CPU.
14. Instead of using an unnecessary cooilng solution and overkill PSU, he could have save money on PSU and AIO, and gotten a 1080 Ti instead. He did said he was going all out, after all.
You'd think they'd just watch a Linus PC build and just copy it
I think this verge video shows the fact that building PC's are borderline idiotproof, contrary to what console fanboys claim. This guy makes so many mistakes in the build and yet he ends up with a working high end gaming PC.
Yup but sadly running in single channel mode will affect performance.
@infamousentnyc it's the same for the left tho no side is different they have good and bad that's it
just for a bit .. maybe with intense gaming not more than 2 weeks .. and the parts will just melt ... from the inside ....
Hell I recently made a PC and it works great. I ain't no rocket surgeon.
i think he had to swap out the ram in dual channel mod first to make in work behind the scene and he did a lot of changes as well behind the scene and he got lucky that the radiator didn't leak on the system after he use long screw without the fan, the irony is he is computer science student how the fuk did he even take computer subject and not have a single clue basic idea of computer is mind-boggling.
That gender studies degree comes in handy when building computers. I mean it's so complex to put together.
Well, there is male and female connectors, master and slave drives - gender studies certainly comes handy.
It's worse than that - he's actually a CompSci student. It's in his profile on Twitter and LinkedIn.
Hey, if someone can memorize all 135 genders, then building a computer should be EASY.
Oh wait, they just added another one.
Someone should contact his collage an informing him he is not ready to graduate an link them the original video.
Well I get what you said but honestly I build PCs since I was 14 years old and I was at the beginning better than this dude.
You don't need anything to build the PC other then logic. If you don't know how it works read the fucking interwebz but those gender dudes are way to stupid for it.
"And now we put on our anti-static band"
*Pulls out slap bracelet with googly eyes*
I'd never realized they'd suggested you need a Allen wrench. Only thing I've ever needed to put a computer together is a Philips screwdriver, preferably with a magnetic head and maybe some needle nose pliers if trying to pull a cable through a tight place.
Also, anti static bracelet to keep your pc and YOU safe? wtf is this computer going to do turn on without power and shock you to death?
We wouldn't be so lucky.
Do you even know what static electricity is and how it works?
Yes, do you?
Static electricity could fry some components or if there was a problem with the psu that could fry him
dawson cox anti static barecelet will not save you from electric shock from a bad PSU.
Hes obviously never built a pc before. He reminds me of the girl I went to college with who actually got A+ certified but then asked if she needed to open the computer case to put the files in.. Unreal
Jim26D My female friend in college have 3.0 GPA in. We majored in IT, but she didn't even know how to install an OS or even a simple things like how to copy a file from a CD to the hard drive. And my other female friend even asked me how to access windows explorer. When i tell her to right click on the start button, she literally move the mouse to the right and click it. True story.
@@b4ndrol oiii that's not funny even 12 year olds know how to do that
THe CØld But it's the truth. I was speechless when i found out that some of my friends didn't even know the very basic of computer. Especially the right click one.
I couldn’t fit anymore pictures in my pc so I had to buy a bigger case.
i made a spelling mistake while i was using a word processor.
thank goodness i had some whiteout on hand to cover up the mistake.
I don't know anything about building pcs, but I feel like if I stuck a potato, a mouse on a wheel, and an alarm clock in a cardboard box it would still look nicer than that.
Using a Joe Exotic clip before it was cool. Nice
Friend. You're right! He assembles a computer as an amateur.
1) Anti-static bracelet is useless. And sometimes it can even harm someone who collects. (Modern motherboards have a range of static protection)
2) It is better to install the processor before placing the motherboard in the case, since it will be very inconvenient to install it with the cooler inside.
3) The choice of a case for a $ 2000 computer is wrong. Ventilation is weak.
I have experience in the assembly and maintenance of computers for more than 9 years. Along the way, he has a Cisco essential certificate in which he believes ... That's how certified amateurs are bred.

Gundam is an oracle.
The RAM will work like that, but just not in dual channel mode, effectively halving the available bandwidth.
Ummm did you listened?
Han Lockhart's got it right. There's a reason he "benchmarked" with Arma 3 (older game that my way lesser-spec'd PC runs at max with better than "pretty smooth" performance) and LoL, which is basically a mobile game ported to PC. Throw in something that eats some resources.
Yeah it'll boot like that, but it's still pretty unbelievable he did it. Also SSD vs HDD not a big difference? My experience tells me it's a world of difference in loading times for gaming. Taking something like Warhammer: Total War off the SSD makes the game almost unplayable. 15 minute load times between starting a battle and loading into the battle map.. there's a lot of battles you're going to have to do over a Warhammer campaign.. not viable. Anything open world where you have to keep loading more resources into memory? Why would you settle for HDD speeds on that.
Not always, some pc's will not even post if you have the memory in the wrong slots same goes for the graphics card.
I know because I have experienced both before(1st one I have seen and 2nd I have done myself).
Again I said some not all
I have a Xeon at work. It literally went boot with the RAM in the wrong slots.
That ram should work in the wrong slot. it will just run single channel mode instead of dual channel, iirc. which defeats the purpose of having 2 exact sticks of ram.
Two decades of computer builds and I can't for the life of me think of what he is using the allen wrench for. At first I thought standoffs, but no that's not right. Now it's driving me crazy, wtf is the allen wrench for - I didn't see him use it?
LMAO that he's actually using that damn swiss army knife to build a pc.... what the actual fuck
The allen wrench is actually used as a pry tool in case...HA pun intended (is he a comedian now?)...in case the Swiss Army knife is being used with one of the long screws that take forever to screw in to the wrong part. An allen wrench is also used to "hammer" pieces in as well...The tweezers are used to cut the circulation from his dick to help him use his brain better for learning to use a Swiss Army knife and an allen wrench together
What Does It Say About A Tech Outlet That Dosn't Even Own A Screwdriver Outside A Swiss Army Knife?
I could buy a $6.99 PC screwdriver set or buy a $69.99 Swiss Army knife just for the purpose of building a PC. Which one you suggest I buy?
@harrythebarry by going dual Channel AKA being in the Right Slots with multiple sticks, you're essentially doing the same thing as hyper threading or multi-threading. But if you put it in the wrong slot you lose that capability not to mention your PC may not even start. Of course if your PC only has two slots then it's not difficult to know which one to use.
@harrythebarry the instruction manual LOL. In a 4 slot motherboard it will usually be the one farthest from the CPU and the one two to the left, as the first two that should be used. If it is 8 motherboard then you should probably ignore the 4 to the left of the CPU and apply the same logic As the step above. A 2 slot motherboard is obvious and if you're using only one stick of RAM then simply put it in the slot marked number one, which is usually farthest to the right of the CPU. But again this may vary from motherboard to motherboard so check your manual to be sure.
I like coming back to this vid for the laughs and because it's one of like 3 videos not demonetized for Gundam

Joe exotic may be from Oklahoma, but we dont claim him. My family lived 45 mins down from his park in Paul's Valley. Fun story, my school went there for a field trip one time, one. We were there probably about 20 mins before the teachers suddenly said that we needed to be back at school. (Keep in mind i was in 6th grade or so at the time) I overheard one of the teachers mention to another about the gift shop and stuff whispering. Wasn't until I saw Tiger king before I had any idea why we left so soon. We all figured it was because one of the girls in my class got sprayed by a tiger through the fence.
This reminds me of when we used to tell new Privates to PMCS the Humvees in the motorpool to check the levels of the headlight fluid then speak to the mechanics and order a new headlight fluid pump. We made it sound so official they would spend the entire day arguing with the mechanics afraid to go back without a pump because Top needs it done before end day formation.
All I had to hear was "Battlefield V" as the example game... I already can't take these guys seriously xD
