It's interesting to see the similarities and differences between the forests there and those here in CA. We were in Yosemite Valley for a blizzard two weeks ago. I live farther south, so it was a novelty to experience the snow falling off the trees and the magical vistas of snow covered meadows. I'm quite impressed with Allie's wood chopping chops, lol. :)
we've tried essential oil before but definitely need to try that!! they probably dry out pretty quick though.. we just can't keep these critters out no matter what we do
They still come in, but stay away from the areas with cotton balls/peppermint oil. I have been doing this for years. The oil lasts months if you soak it well.

next time you leave for an extended period of time, cut up Irish Spring soap and put it on plates around the cabin. It will help keep the mice out. It works in our camper over the winter.

When you split wood, start towards the outer edges of the stump, preferably along an age ring. Then work your way in towards the middle, breaking off pieces as you go. I noticed you and Ally try to split those stumps in the middle, which is the hardest way to chop wood.

Kyle it's like we live almost parallel lives🤣 Here in Northern Idaho about 2 wks ago, our big snow fell over 3 or 4 days, about 4". Then this past week up from -9 to 45° and all the snow is gone and it's raining! Poof! You kids have the right idea! Enjoy life in between working hard on your futures! Beautiful video as always! Love your videography, I’ve been watching for a while ( COVID) I use Irish spring soap to keep the mice away. Rub it on all the sills and leave a bar in the bed and places where they might come in.. have a wonderful winter!
Put a whole lot of mouse traps out and bait them with PEANUT BUTTER. Not cheese. Gets them all the time!!! We used to have a big problem with mice. We live in the country in Alberta Canada and every fall we get ,mice. So after we use the traps and peanut butter there are NO mice.
You must have been reading “A Moveable Feast” by Ernest Hemingway. Wonderful book and I read it when I lived in Paris is the late 70s not too far from where Hemingway lived in the Latin Quarter. Love your videos and look forward to seeing what you two are doing. You do have some Ernest in you 😉

I don't know how much help this is, but cotton balls soaked in peppermint oil, will keep mice away. It does work.

Put a whole lot of mouse traps out and bait them with PEANUT BUTTER. Not cheese. Gets them all the time!!! We used to have a big problem with mice. We live in the country in Alberta Canada and every fall we get ,mice. So after we use the traps and peanut butter there are NO mice.

You must have been reading “A Moveable Feast” by Ernest Hemingway. Wonderful book and I read it when I lived in Paris is the late 70s not too far from where Hemingway lived in the Latin Quarter. Love your videos and look forward to seeing what you two are doing. You do have some Ernest in you 😉
