Static Shock was a enjoyable show, should most definitely watch, would of been shocked if he had lost this. He did find Bruce was batman so hes on the list that deduced who Batman really was.
While I never read the comics I loved watching the show. While the show was obviously toned down for younger audiences they dealt with heavy subjects like racism, bullying and gun violence.
Funny thing. Static and his show were actually part of my childhood. But I forgot that he even existed until this episode was made. If you have an HBO Max subscription, the whole series is there to watch.
Electromagnetic manipulation is the same thing Magneto from MARVEL has only that he uses the magnetic abilities of it mostly while Static Shock uses the electrostatic applications. Electromagnetic force is a primordial force so has a lot of applications.

TRIVIA TIME!! As usual, these are from the DB Wikia 1) The episode's animation was heavily inspired by Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, as several shots contained halftones, Ben-Day dots, and onomatopoeia to emulate the comic book aesthetic of the film. 2) This is the 2nd episode where both combatants are African-American, after Balrog VS TJ Combo. 3) This is the 10th episode to feature an original track with lyrics, after Goku VS Superman 2's "Alive", Wolverine VS Raiden's "Exo", Meta VS Carolina's "Slingshot", Ryu VS Jin's "Fight Like A Devil", Optimus Prime VS Gundam's "Wings of Iron", Ultron VS Sigma's "Infection Perfection", Thanos VS Darkseid's "Kings of Infinity", Ben 10 VS Green Lantern's "Emerald Heroes", and All Might VS Might Guy's "Mighty", and with the next 7 being Gray VS Esdeath's "Lost Ice Storms", Sabrewulf VS Jon Talbain's "Blood Moon", Hulk VS Broly's "Ikari", Shadow VS Ryuko's "Chaos Unraveled", Blake VS Mikasa's "Thunder Shroud", Batman VS Iron Man's "Suit Yourself", and Goku Black VS Reverse-Flash's "Reverse Rose". 4) This is the 1st episode to have music by JT Music. Previously, JT Music also posted a rap battle between Thanos and Darkseid on the same day of the RUclips release of the episode to commemorate said episode. 5) This is the 1st episode to feature SWATS in the theme song. 6) This is the 4th episode to have OmegaSparx in the music, after Balrog VS TJ Combo, Ryu VS Jin, and Thanos VS Darkseid. 6a) This is the 3rd time OmegaSparx has an original song in the music, after Ryu VS Jin and Thanos VS Darkseid. 7) From this episode onward, Wizard and Boomstick gain new character designs. 8) The alternate universe versions of Wiz and Boomstick are officially called Jizz and Broomstick. 8a) This is likely a callback to Meta VS Carolina, due to the fact that Wiz and Boomstick were called Jizz and Broomstick in that episode by Caboose. 9) This is the 2nd episode where someone other than Boomstick makes an episode-ending pun, the first being Thanos VS Darkseid, which was said by Deadpool. 10) This episode marks the first time in which two vocal tracks were released within consecutive episodes, following All Might VS Might Guy's "Mighty". The 2nd time occurred with Batman VS Iron Man and Goku Black VS Reverse-Flash. 11) This is the 3rd episode where both combatants are fighting before the simulation begins, after Weiss VS Mitsuru and Dragonzord VS Mechagodzilla. 12) This is the 3rd electric-themed battle, after Thor VS Raiden and Pikachu VS Blanka. 13) The song, "Watts up Danger" created for this Death Battle episode features a rare sextuple entendre written and performed by SWATS as Miles Morales at the end of his portion of the second verse. TRACK!! The track for this fight is called "Watts up Danger" by JT Music, Omega Sparx, and SWATS. The track is a rap and hip hop piece which imagines a rap battle between the two combatants. Rap and hip hop are extremely prominent in the soundtracks of Miles' and Static's most popular media appearances (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Static Shock). SWATS portrays Miles while Omega Sparx portrays Static. The track's title is a reference to the song "What's Up Danger" from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, though "What's" is replaced with "Watts" to reference Static's electric abilities. The cover image features Miles' and Static's logos on the Static Saucer. Electricity is emitting from the saucer, which is caught on a large electrified web.
I loved the cartoon show Static Shock. It was really awesome. Static had to fight off a brain washed Justice League. He had to outthink Batman, be faster than the Flash, overpower Superman, and go hand to hand with Wonder Woman. Not all at once but he managed to beat them all. Good thing the cartoon wasn't canon or else this Death Battle would have been ridiculously one sided.
Superman and Wonder Woman weren't there, but Martian Manhunter , Green Lantern, and Hawkgirl were, which still makes it impressive that he handled them all at the same point and he countered Martian Manhunter, who is considered by Batman the only real to Superman if he goes rogue and has beaten an evil version of Superman before.
You not knowing Static Shock frankly isn't a surprise, and not for the usual reason. His first comic appearance wasn't until the early 90's, the cartoon came out in 2000 (one of the DCAU cartoons we keep saying you need to watch), and I'm not really sure if we've seen him in anything else since. Great character, but massively underutilized.
Ok so let me explain Static and milestone comics! Being black and growing up in the 90s, Super hero cartoons were a thing but to tell you the truth, there were not a whole lot of Black Superheroes being mentioned a whole bunch. Yeah you had the 90s X-men cartoon with storm and you had the old iron man cartoon with War machine. But ultimately you really had not a whole lot of people of color being really featured in comics or cartoons with super heroes. ENTER MILESTONE COMICS! This was a comic book company founded by black people who created super heroes who were people of color and even different sexualities too! These characters would inspire a generation of kids mainly black kids to show them that there are black super heroes! I grew up living in the ghetto and I was bullied as well. I didn't fit the black stereo type because I was a huge nerd and everything. One T.v show that really helped out was Static Shock! Static was literally me, a black teen who was nerdy and he showed to embrace and enjoy my nerdiness! But what makes that cartoon great was the fact it dealt with issues that were SUPER relatable to me! They did an episode on gun violence where a kid got bullied so bad that he tried to use a gun to get back at his bullies. There was the time Static met his best friends dad and his dad was super racist towards him and used slurs to refer to Virgil. Then there was the episodes about homelessness, learning disorders, losing a parent, and more! This show really helped define a huge part of my life growing up! You know fun fact Miles Morales was inspired by Static too! But yeah seeing Virgil be himself and embrace it helped me to really embrace myself and everything! Hell I've even started my own youtube channel to spread my nerdiness to others and show them that it's alright to be black and nerdy! Anywho I enjoyed this and seeing your reaction to it and everything :D
Milestone Comics was a black owned comic book company that distributed mostly black and African American based characters becoming heroes and some villains. The reason you never heard of them was most likely because in the 80's, 90's, and early 00's, it was heavily believed that black stories wouldn't sell comic book consumers, so comic book shops and media would often choose to not sell anything of the Milestone line, or most black stories in general, very big parallel from today. It was because of this, Milestone went under was bought out by DC, because they really wanted Static, but once the founder of the company, Dwayne McDuffie, passed away, the IP was shelved. Static Shock was extremely important for a lot of people at the time and dealt with major topics and issues in North America. Milestone sued DC a won a ten year long suit against them for shelving the IPs, and now Static has returned with a new comic series and a new movie coming up on the way.
@@rotciv557 They announced they were making one 2020 during the DC Fandome. Michael B. Jordan wanted to green light it and that they just started on production.
So in the early 2000's Marvel wanted to draw in new readers who they felt were intimidated by the decades of continuity following their main timeline, aka Earth 616. This led to a run of comics called the "ultimate" universe, aka Earth 1610. A LOT of the Ultimate universe can be described as: "What if everyone in marvel except Spider-Man was an unlikable a-hole?" That was the timeline the "Oz formula" came from, they used "failed Super Soldier Serum" for a lot of origins Parts of this universe that worked, like Ultimate Nick Fury, ended up getting worked into the MCU and 616 in various ways. At this point the only remnants of that timeline I know of are Miles and an evil version of Reed Richards.
"Anybody can make web shooters." No, they can't. It takes an engineering genius like peter parker. That's the point. But if it's part of his powers it takes away a large part of who Peter is.
static is like one of the OG electric heroes for me. i bet not many ppl even know the term "bang baby." (slang for superhumans basically. it also had some educational life lessons)
Heads up, one of the later episodes, Beerus VS Sailor Galaxia, is blocked on RUclips currently, so you might have to watch it on Rooster Teeth. Unless you wouldn’t mind watching a version on RUclips with Spanish subtitles.
Ouch. I really like that one. Mostly due to being a Sailor Moon fan. I think Saturn would’ve been better due to having similar powers to Beerus but I understand why they went with Galaxia.
Fun fact: Spider-Man has always had web shooters. The organic web shooters were introduced during Tobey Maguire run. The only reason why they were organic was because the filmmakers thought it would make more sense than a high-schooler knowing how to make that type of technology
Actually in the comics he got organic webbing after Queen seduced and killed him to have her children. Funnily enough one of them was Peter Parker he was now twice as strong as before and had organic webbing. It was a weird story but I'd love for them too bring Queen into the animated universe just for how dangerous she is too him.
@@matthewchristian9591 Did that storyline come out around the same time as the Tobey Maguire movies? I only ask because normally after the movie gets popular, they will change things in a comics to accommodate. Like Jarvis being an A.I. program when for years he was always Tony's Butler.
The “Ultimate Universe” was a reality where all possible heroes existed in the absolute pinnacle form they could be, all the powers of every other version, and none of the drawbacks not shared by all of them… unfortunately they saw every other universe as a dangerously inferior existence and began wiping them all out.
Lesser is kind of an insult. There are tons of people who remember Static Shock incredibly fondly to the point there were decade long petitions to get it to return, and the Dwayne McDuffie, the creator of Static Shock, passed away. In fact, Milestone Comics won a lawsuit last year against DC for not putting out Static Shock content when they were supposed to, likely because of bad management, it wasn't because the show and character wasn't well-liked. Actually, Static Shock was the victim of corporate meddling, which caused a lot of its products and scheduling were constantly switched and changed, sometimes coming on early at 8:00 on Kid's WB on Saturday mornings and toys and video games being delayed, it's what happened to Young Justice after season 2. A lot of black shows at this time were dealing with broadcasting issues; The Proud Family, Girlfriends, One-On-One, All of Us, etc.
@@yoder6162 it was though... it wasn't picked up and it didn't explode... Lesser known not lesser quality. I liked digimon more than pokemon... but its a lesser monster taming show... monster rancher was cool too
@@TnT_F0X No. Sorry if this seems a little long, but remember Jimmy? After that episode aired, the network began messing with Static Shock's schedule and programming slots and even had products in development pulled like the planned toy line and the Gameboy Advance video game, similar to Young Justice after season 2. A show needs merchandise to stay relevant. It's the same thing that happened to Yu Yu Hakusho when the Chapter Black arc began. It's why most people in the West had no clue the series continued long after Sensui's defeat and a lot of context about Demon World being much sturdier than planet Earth was lost to a lot of people when Sasuke vs Hiei was resolved. People were still pretty sensitive back then too when it came to theming and topics that got personal.
Love Miles. He's an amazing character. I'm sad he lost, but he still put up a great fight. Definitely my favourite spiderman episode if we don't count symbiote episodes.
There was a short clip during Static's analysis of him messing with the Flash, and that's all I really needed to see. DC's the safe bet. Everyone in the Justice League has to scale to Superman in some way, just like how everyone in Naruto gets to be compared to that blowing up the moon feat...every time
"Wait so Captain America and Spider-Man are related?" ...I can't even begin to keep count of how many things are wrong with that sentence. "What makes [the main Marvel Universe] so much better?" Simple: it's the MAIN Marvel Universe, where most Marvel media stems from. It's mainstream comics, where meaningful developments will stay ONLY if they catch on in pop culture as a whole. And keep in mind, while comic book characters are insanely popular, comic books themselves are still an incredibly niche market. So for Miles Morales to not only survive the destruction of the Ultimate Universe physically, but _editorially,_ is quite an impressive feat. "I've never heard of [Static] before." He actually managed to get his own TV show in the early 2000s as part of the much beloved DC Animated Universe. I highly recommend you check it out at some point, even if you don't react to it on the channel. "He doesn't have a special suit or anything, does he?" No, he does not. Neither of them do. Spiderman's suits are usually just cloth and latex (maybe incorporating some unstable molecules if he's feeling saucy) while saving his more hi-tech suits for special occasions. His base outfit being nanotech is pretty much exclusive to the MCU version of Peter.
Here we go! Behind Deadpool and the Mask, this is the one I've been most hyped for your reaction to (just because I love these two characters). "Is that a Spider-Pig reference?" As much as I appreciate your thought process, the "Does whatever a Spider can" line is actually from the original 60's Spider-Man theme song. "I actually got reference." He got one! Add it to the list! "You're breathtaking!" Was that a Keanu reference? I appreciate. VA Fun Facts! Miles in this was voiced by Kai Jordan. Not much under his belt, looks to be an up-and-comer. Curious as the where he's gonna go, though he did have a role in an official pokemon short. Static was voiced by Zeno Robinson. This is actually pretty impressive, as Zeno has been gaining quite a bit of traction lately. In things I don't think you'd know, he's Hunter in The Owl House (Highly recommend), Nino in Miraculous (slightly recommend), and with a hint of irony, played Miles Morales in a video game. One that you absolutely would know, however, is his recent role as the Pro Hero, Hawks, in My Hero Academia.
Spider-Man, Spider-Man! Does whatever a spider can. Spins a web, any size; Captures thieves, just like flies. Watch out! Here comes the Spider-Man! My favorite thing about that classic theme song is that a later verse contains the lyrics "Is he strong? Listen, bud, / He's got radioactive blood!" As if that answers the question in any way whatsoever. 🤪
If you don’t know Miles Morales made his debut in the Ultimate comics. The ultimates is a alternative comic universe that came to the early 2000. In that version of Spider-Man died and brought Miles as the new Spider-Man where got his powers from a spider but it wasn’t some radioactive spider from the current marvel universe though, this one was genetically made to replicate the super soldier serum. It’s a long story but this universe is more semi realistic than the current universe. So no Miles isn’t related to the cap. You should listen carefully what they say. You have a lot of trouble to pay close attention. So yeah Miles made his debut in the ultimate universe where his world later got destroyed in an event series and then they brought in the current marvel universe. It’s the same as Statics but static came first. He’s the first black teenager. You should definitely watch the static shock cartoons.
Static wasn't originally DC but was bought by DC later. He had a TV show called Static Shock in the early 2000s. Loved it as it tackled things a lot of kid shows wouldn't back in the day including: homeless kids with mental disabilities, abusive family, racist family, gun violence in school brought on by someone pushed into a corner mentally and the guilt of people who survived, gang coercsion, and more.
Not going to lie, it was a fair fight between the two shocking characters out there 😌 so can’t wait to see your reaction to a very siren screaming episode.
I grew up on DC more so I love Static Shock more, but I still love Miles Morales, so I didn’t really care who won,and to answer your question(is the season the best?) in my opinion the answer is no,but because you like speed I’ll say yes for your sake, but that’s only because of this season’s future death battles for you.
So already, this playlist is missing quite a few. After Leo v Jason is Genos VS War Machine and Grey VS Esdeath And after Cable v Booster is Obi-Wan Kenobi VS Kakashi
He should be good to watch genos Vs war machine sense he watch tatsumaki Vs mob and Obi-wan Vs kakachi sense he isn’t gonna watch Naruto But what about gray Vs Esdeath? He watch Erza Vs Zoro and Natsu Vs ace
My new year's resolution is to do more writing. This is the 21st year for one of my fanfics and I wrote two chapters last year, so I plan on doing two more at least. I'm also working on an original story and I want to do a bit of that every two weeks. And do a stand alone fanfic at some point.
my favorite dc hero and my favorite iteration of spider-man there was no outcome i was going to be disappointed with so hands down one my favorite battles
Also, in the Ultimate universe, Miles was trained in the art of webslinging by Ultimate Spider-Woman. Ultimate Spider-Woman was actually a female clone of Peter Parker with the original Peter's memories(up to a point).

The “Ultimate Universe” was called that due to being part of Marvel’s Ultimate series. Honestly Miles is the good one out of the bunch. The Ultimate Universe had the Avengers have a party where they watched Iron Man’s sex tape right after he died, Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch were in an incestuous relationship with each other, Wolverine who was implied to be their father in that universe spied on the twins while they were... well let’s just say the Ultimate Universe didn’t do well and the blowing up thing was agreed on.
dude static happens to be my most favorite super hero out of all the DC. he may not have a movie- (which is bullshit since he should have been had a movie.) but he had an unforgettable animated series. yeah static took on the some of the members of the justice league (batman, hawk girl, the flash, martian manhunter, and green lanturn.), fought batman beyond equally, worked with superman, worked alongside batman & robin a couple of times, and has a big list of rogues gallery.

Oof... i see why that first clip was facepalm worthy. Can't believe you thought Captain America and Miles were related just due to the fact that some group of scientists tried to make the Super Solider formula like Cap.
Look it's Static and next to him is Black Arachnid which should be Miles out of the shadow of Spider-Mans new hero name it is time for him to be his own spider Marvel 🤨
Spiderman and Cap are not related, They just put a spider in a radioactive serum that made Peter into a superhero. Have actually read comics, watch a few shows (including comic book adapted shows), and anime besides the anime you are reacted to that isn't abridged when you were a kid. Make a video with 2 video of Nostalgia Critic in a day, first Sailor moon and then Toonami to learn
I love Static a lot. It's hard not to like him when he's one of the few people Batman likes lol But yea, I feel like Static is not just a hero but also a symbol. A lot of the morals in his stories always has something to do with real life problems, gun violence, gangs, drugs being offered to kids, blm and more...Miles Morales is fun, but I find Static to be more inspiring and relevant.
Sir...did you just say "anyone can make webshooters"? The webshooters are an innovative piece of technology the Peter Parker made using his genuis intellect. The web fluid, which he designed and created himself is highly durable, has a very strong tensile strength and able to support tons of weight. It's an engineering mastery and you think anyone can make it? Webs from your own body is cool and all but it takes a real genius to amke webshooters and the fluid to grow with it. It's a part of being Spiderman, for the most part.

@@danielwilson8604 yeah plus al the years of experience with his powers since WW2 but my point is like you said the power of electromagnetism is a wide spectrum with a LOT of capabilities.
TRIVIA TIME!!
As usual, these are from the DB Wikia
1) The episode's animation was heavily inspired by Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, as several shots contained halftones, Ben-Day dots, and onomatopoeia to emulate the comic book aesthetic of the film.
I'm convinced your childhood was nothing but sitting in a corner and occasionally coming out to play Kirby.
i use to get up every saaturday morning early so i could catch static shock, like this was one of those cartoons that i couldnt wait to catch
WAIT, they are making a Static Shock movie?!?
@@rotciv557 They announced they were making one 2020 during the DC Fandome. Michael B. Jordan wanted to green light it and that they just started on production.
So in the early 2000's Marvel wanted to draw in new readers who they felt were intimidated by the decades of continuity following their main timeline, aka Earth 616. This led to a run of comics called the "ultimate" universe, aka Earth 1610. A LOT of the Ultimate universe can be described as: "What if everyone in marvel except Spider-Man was an unlikable a-hole?" That was the timeline the "Oz formula" came from, they used "failed Super Soldier Serum" for a lot of origins
Parts of this universe that worked, like Ultimate Nick Fury, ended up getting worked into the MCU and 616 in various ways. At this point the only remnants of that timeline I know of are Miles and an evil version of Reed Richards.
"Anybody can make web shooters." No, they can't. It takes an engineering genius like peter parker. That's the point.
But if it's part of his powers it takes away a large part of who Peter is.
static is like one of the OG electric heroes for me. i bet not many ppl even know the term "bang baby."
(slang for superhumans basically. it also had some educational life lessons)
Man, you should watch some animated series on these characters. Static Shock was a major part of my childhood
This is one of the best episodes, amazing soundtrack, best cut away gags, research, and amazing fight, love this episode
I liked the comic words during the fight
@@theduckgoesmoo yeah wish miles death had a more visual flair
Heads up, one of the later episodes, Beerus VS Sailor Galaxia, is blocked on RUclips currently, so you might have to watch it on Rooster Teeth. Unless you wouldn’t mind watching a version on RUclips with Spanish subtitles.
Ouch. I really like that one. Mostly due to being a Sailor Moon fan. I think Saturn would’ve been better due to having similar powers to Beerus but I understand why they went with Galaxia.
17:26 "Okay I think it's two people I don't really know" duck, I could count on one hand how many characters from this show you knew.
HEY NOW! YOU’RE RIGHT
Fun fact: Spider-Man has always had web shooters.
Like Jarvis being an A.I. program when for years he was always Tony's Butler.
i think it was around that time i remember it was a 2000 story. just thought id bring it up since it held revelance.
The “Ultimate Universe” was a reality where all possible heroes existed in the absolute pinnacle form they could be, all the powers of every other version, and none of the drawbacks not shared by all of them… unfortunately they saw every other universe as a dangerously inferior existence and began wiping them all out.
Nice joke
@@chrismanning2888what?
I remember Static as one of the lesser Saturday morning cartoons. It didn't last long after new episodes stopped
There's a high resurgence of Static Shock love coming in recent years. 0
2 of my all time favorite characters. Both relatable, funny, and tbh some the best examples of what a Hero should be.
Btw, Static did the impossible by resisting Darkseid's anti-life equation.
That’s…. Kinda insane
Love Miles. He's an amazing character. I'm sad he lost, but he still put up a great fight. Definitely my favourite spiderman episode if we don't count symbiote episodes.
“So wait Captain America and spider-man are related”
Only in the ultimate universe
Ooooooh
Dude, I can't recommend you watch "Static Shock" enough. That show was amazing.
There used to be a time when there were good shows on Saturday morning and after school.
I agree. Static’s powers grew by leaps and bounds in his show,
There was a short clip during Static's analysis of him messing with the Flash, and that's all I really needed to see. DC's the safe bet. Everyone in the Justice League has to scale to Superman in some way, just like how everyone in Naruto gets to be compared to that blowing up the moon feat...every time
"Why have I never heard of him before?"
I mean... that's your thing; having gaps in your knowledge the size of galaxies. 🤷♂️
I’m honestly confused how everyone knows about all of these people like I’m sure 80% of all of my irl friends are as clueless as me
@@theduckgoesmoo cause we grew up watching this stuff while you grew up watching nothing but freaking history channels
"Wait so Captain America and Spider-Man are related?"
...I can't even begin to keep count of how many things are wrong with that sentence.
"What makes [the main Marvel Universe] so much better?"
Simple: it's the MAIN Marvel Universe, where most Marvel media stems from.
"He doesn't have a special suit or anything, does he?"
No, he does not.
Which Pokémon short was he in?
@@BJGvideos "Pokemon: Twilight Wings." I've not watched anything Pokemon in many years, so it's lost on me, but he played Leon in it.

My favorite thing about that classic theme song is that a later verse contains the lyrics "Is he strong? Listen, bud, / He's got radioactive blood!" As if that answers the question in any way whatsoever. 🤪
I love Static Shock so much. He is such an iconic hero, and deserves WAY more love.
Goro vs Machamp is coming up and that is hands down my favourite fight they have done
All of us who know static shock knowing why he doesn't know who static shock is
Not going to lie, it was a fair fight between the two shocking characters out there 😌 so can’t wait to see your reaction to a very siren screaming episode.
It was more of a wash actually. There were a bunch of feats missing for Static and they did lowball pretty hard here.
Did someone say speed??

I would say Season 8 is the best season of the show, 7 may have some amazing episodes, 8 is just more consistent in quality the whole way through.
